First post! It's a bit of a gravedig though =/, but I was considering making my own topic about this until I noticed this 'un peeking out of the bottom of the page. (And profuse apologies if someone's already posted this one, I did skim down the topic to check...)

Marble Hornets has managed to ruin improve the following song for me:

Pointer Sisters - Automatic

YouTube: Link

"But this is a really upbeat song from the 80s! How the &^#$# does it remind you of MH?" I hear half a person say. Well, let's have a look at the lyrics (emphasis and attempts to explain my madness here added)...

Quote:

Look what you're doing to me
I'm utterly at your whim
All of my defenses down
Your camera looks through me
With its X-ray vision
And all systems run aground

All I can manage to push from my lips
Is a stream of absurdities
Every word I intended to speak
Winds up locked in the circuitry

Chorus:
No way to control it
It's totally automatic
Whenever you're around

I'm walking blindfolded
Completely automatic
All of my systems are down
Down down down
Automatic
Automatic

What is this madness
That makes my motor run
And my legs too weak to stand

I go from sadness
To exhilaration
Like a robot at your command
My hands perspire and shake like a leaf
Up and down goes my temperature
I summon doctors to get some relief
But they tell me there is no cure

They tell me

Chorus

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Slendy seems to be good at getting people "totally at [its] whim" with "all of [their] defences down"...

Whenever someone encounters Slendy, certain things (Slendy sickness, possibly being operated, etc) seem to be, well, *automatic*. Whenever someone's "camera looks through" him, systems (the camera's at least) *do* tend to run aground pretty quickly...

The second verse starts off lining up directly with Entry #43, Slendy being the cause of "madness" that makes Alex's "motor run" and his legs "too weak to stand". The whole production of MH seems to be Slendy making the cast go "from sadness to exhilaration", especially Entry #54.

Temperature changes being a Slendy sign aside, Tim notably summons "doctors to get some relief"... but we're not sure if they've told him "there is no cure" for his mental issues yet... And the idea of the MH cast being robots at Slendy's command is quite a common theory...

...Also nice to see other people picking up on "Smooth Operator" and Depeche Mode (out of their repertoire, it's A Question Of Time that's been "improved" by MH for me, "it's a question of time and it's running out for you, it won't be long before you do exactly what they want you to" indeed). Has anyone else noted Big Spender? "Hey, big Slender... Slend a little time with me..."

*shuts up*

Frank Black's "Men in Black". It especially reminds me a Alex's situation in the really early entries, and Jay's in the current videos.

Another good one is "Where You're Eyes Don't Go" by They Might Be Giants. This is a pretty freaky song:

This is the song that initially introduced me to the series. I was looking for this specific song on YouTube and the first video was a montage of Marble Hornets/totheark clips. In my opinion it was a perfect fit, and I got hooked.

This song always makes me think of Marble Hornets.
Interestingly enough, it was featured in a horror movie, 1993's "Amityville: A New Generation."

The name of the song is "Attention," which as we all know is the name of a A TTA video.
But that isn't the only thing that reminds me of MH in this song.
Look at these lyrics. Look at them.

Lyrics:
Hey!
Now that you have my attention,
What are you gonna do?
You might have good intentions
But they're not coming through
You're very pleased with yourself I see,
It's like a walk in the park
You aren't enlightened by anybody else, cause
You can see in the dark

Got a lock,
Got a key
Got some kind of vice-like grip on me
On a leash, by the reigns
Got a look that puts me in chains

I tried a subtle suggestion
A more direct approach
A can't make a connection
You're beyond reproach
No need for petty excuses
No need for thumbing around
I don't know what the use is
or what you're throwing down

Got a lock,
Got a key
Got some kind of vice-like grip on me
On a leash, by the reigns
Got a look that puts me in chains

Mixed voices:

Do you like the reflection?
Do you love the reflection?
Do you like what you see?
Do you like the attention?
Do you like the attention you get from me?
Hey! Yeah! Hey! Hey!

Now that you have my attention...

Got some kind of vice-like grip on me

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey... (etc.)

Got a lock,
Got a key.

If I can think of 10 ways to spend your time more wisely off the top of my head, why can't you think of one

It's not like I listen to stuff all day and tie it in to marble hornets. I was just listening to it once and I noticed that the lyrics seemed to mirror Jay's relations with TTA. Geez.

Mostly because of the drumwhirl (kinda sounds like sparkling like the distortion we hear in some entries) and the synth, but the repetition on the word "hunter" makes me relate to TO or possibly Jay in his "hunt" for truth
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
or whatever he's doing now days I don't even know any more.

I think explanation is kinda useless for this one. also has this distortion-esque sound. and the lyrics speak for themselves "come to daddy and I want your soul

He probably tiptoes to this with such intensity.

The video and the subtle creepiness of this song remind me so much of MH.
Nothing about the lyrics or anything in particular about the video, just the mood it sets.
