Top 40 Radio songs for Super 8
List the Top 40 R & R songs you think would be appropriate to S8

OK, here's what I was thinking—don't know when in the year (of 1979) that S8 will be set, but assume that it was the first of the year, and as part of the soundtrack we hear a Top 40 radio station (which for rock and roll is basically non-existent anymore) but in addition to oldies, they played current songs.

So, the songs have to have been in the top 40, and for the sake of narrowing it down, the songs have to be rock and roll. I know there are more appropriate songs (such as "Mystery Train" by the Band, Elvis, Neil Young, Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs, etc.) but either they didn't chart prior to 1979, or were not considered rock and roll. So, here's a list to start with, and if you haven't heard of them, perhaps you can hear them online.

I went with the themes of strangeness, trains, film/photos, loss, and themes that are supposed to be in the film.
So, here's my list, what would you suggest? Wink
