How does Rocket Poppeteers fit into all this!?

Everyone's been kind of going on and wondering what and how Rocket Poppeteers fit into all this. At what point are the Film and ARG going to collide and connect (Like the train and the truck.) I've watched CEOT3K multiple times as it is one of my faves. I remember in the movie when the secret government agency transported the camp to wyoming at devils tower they used companies such as (Piggly wiggly, baskin robbins and coca cola i believe.) Maybe the train in Lillian is under the guise of Rocket Poppeteers! I know the container said airforce but maybe that was tarped and it got ripped off in the mayhem... I love speculating!

Interesting thought, but it would have seemed to make more sense if there had been bits and pieces of the RP logo that were identifiable in the trailer seeing as how the different associated web sites connected with the ARG came online at the same time (I believe--man, has it really been that many months back?). The RP site/product seems to fit the backstory (Josh's father's time) more directly than the Josh era of it... so far. Remember we first got linked to RP because of the vintage newspaper printouts from the Kennedy era in the early '60s, detailing his nuclear test ban treaty speech. Also, RP is based strongly on the Cold War-era idea of America vs. the Russkies, Red Cosmo and all.

Given how strongly Abrams desires to keep the film's secrets as long as possible, I doubt we'll be handed the one-to-one connection before the film opens. Though I expect we'll learn a lot more (than the little we know now) after we see the 3/11 trailer.

Connections gained? Yes. Answers, no. But I have to agree that the ARG has stumbled fitfully along since it started what now seems very early in its run, given how little we've progressed all these months later.

RP site

What if RP is this movies Slusho. It is a game for all to play. We stumbled across it via this ARG. But what if it is nothing more than a game to be played on-line like pac-man or asteroids.

You get what I'm getting at, the RP site is like a cereal box toy. We get a secret code and get to be Ralphie from Christmas Story. Maybe Captain Coop will give away a new car or trips to the moon or coupons for RP pops.

I've thought this all along - at best maybe we'll see some kind of commercial for it, or a flashback to Josh and his dad (if they are even characters in the film) going out for some rocket pop's AND that a RP wrapper is used to help bring them together.

But I dont expect RP's and Captain Coop to be a predominant part of the story.

Exactly. I also have a slusho!-like feeling about RP. And we won't perhaps know more about Coop or Cozmo, like we didn't really knew about Noriko Yoshida, just from the story on slusho.jp.

But it will be perhaps a wink to us, as we will see some RP appearance in the movie.

I agree Kosmo, there was a pic floating around somewhere showing RP posters in the store.

Again, I wasn't involved in the Cloverfield ARG, and don't know how big Slusho figured into the ARG, but there seems to be more substance with RP (the initial letter, the mailed certificate, and the follow-up pdf) and now the gearing up for the launch, than we have really had with Mysterio, Josh, a map, badges, mp3, photos, chat, and whatever else that has lead to nowhere.

Sure, we'll have fun playing the RP game, buying RP promo stuff, but do the PMs have to be soooooo slow with providing the dots (no pun intended) that connect and make sense? Rolling Eyes

To be fair, has an ARG ever provided clues/game progress at *just the perfect pace* to please its players?

They're always wanting more, faster, now. Very Happy

I just want a clue that wracks my brain for more than five minutes. The best thing to that was the chat password, and someone already solved it...

 Watermelon salad....

I will be following this ARG till the end, as slow and painful as it is...maybe just lurking.

I do feel that unless JJ Abrams comes to my house himself... wearing a RP astronaut suit...riding a giant lion while handing out popsicles that I have been a bit let down.

Did I mention he should be singing the RP song on a megaphone?

Maybe we will get free tee shirts? So we can Identifiy each other in public and give the "knowing wink"

Not that you won't see me coming with my gigantic foil hat. Foily!

I guess what I am trying to say here is...uhh... I dunno..nvm
