Final Countdown - San Francisco

Thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for us in San Francisco! So on the Final Countdown Thread, the list for SF includes the following:

SF
Gazbot
tronlegacygirl
noel0023
meefo42
grifta67
Uwila

Anyone have any ideas on where to meet up? I was thinking maybe the event might happen in Downtown San Francisco or Embarcadero since the Wonder Con event happened in Justin Herman Plaza. Any suggestions?

Let's do this! Very Happy

Hmmm

That area is probably our best bet and Union Square isn't too far. I'm trying to think of all the arcades or bookstores that are concentrated in certain areas. No matter what, I'm tuned in along with arielfournier and awaiting coordinates on FL! btw thanks for making a thread for this coast Wink

Thanks for making this thread! I'm about 30 minutes outside of SF, but I'm free all day and ready to book it up there at a moments notice Smile

I'll be free all day as well, I'm planning on heading out to the downtown area just in case haha.

So, I was assuming when the countdown ends at 8am (our time) we need to be in SF ready to go right then. I was planning on heading in early and finding a diner or Starbucks or something to wait at, checking my Droid for updates, and heading out from a hopefully close locale. I don't know the city well, as I am new to the area, The only arcade I know of is in the Metreon.

I was thinking of heading early also around 8 and checking my hunch of a bookstore. New to SF also and the only arcade I know of is metreon as-well. If anyone wants to set some sort of more concrete meet up I'm down. Don't get this excited to run around outside on a winter, early morning, Wednesday much Very Happy

One more (maybe) in

Assuming nothing happens in the morning, consider me in for a meet up (live in East Bay, but work in SF). Can't wait!

I maybe in too (depending on work)

Hi all,
Based in the Bay Area, I'll be in SF for Wed if it works out, just a block from Moscone convention center downtown. Please include me in any comm that go out. Getting really excited to see how the game will end!

I'm not sure who has the phone for SF but hopefully we get someone! Since mostly everyone is agreeing to the downtown area, I was thinking we should all just meet up at a starbucks there? The one near the Metreon. There's a starbucks across the street from the metreon, it's close to Mel's Diner. Do you guys want to meet up there?

My god! I just moved up to SF and haven't figured out the latest on FL until today! If the Unfiction gods are listening, can someone PLEASE catch me up on what is happening. I just moved here and don't have a clue. I work @ 3rd & Market which I know is close to Union Square, but i do not know what is happening with the whole final countdown thing!

PM me if needed. I'm glued to my work computer as we speak!

Thanks to all in advance ,
AlanOne

I live right in the Union Square area, so I'm about a 15 minute walk from any probable spot.

You guys mentioned the Metreon, bit of a landmark and there is indeed an arcade there but is there a bookstore nearby?

Embarcadero seems to be also a key spot, but again, no bookstores there that I know of.

Union Square has a Borders, but I'm pretty sure this isn't going to happen at a big box chain store. It wouldn't fit the theme, ya know?

My best guess, and where I'll be heading first, is City Lights on the border of Chinatown and North Beach. It's a well known, favorite bookstore in SF and I believe it's been around since the 80s.

I'd love to meet up at 8, with my iPhone ready just in case, if everyone thinks that's the best plan.
