Flynn's Arcade open till the end of Summer

Just left Disneyland. Had a great few hours at Flynns Arcade trying to beat some high scores. I asked some of employees about how long they were keeping the arcade open till and was told that they would have it open tillthe end of summer - I'm not sure if they meant elecTronica. My girlfriend had asked another person there and they said they at least knew it would be open till the end of April. The person who said this Summer look more important.

I was also told that the whole thing about Flynns being moved Tomorrowland was just a rumor but would make sense and the top floor of the Tomorrow land arcade had been close due to earthquake situations that they had walked in that room recently - meaning it's safe now if it had been closed for that reason. But they still hadn't been told anything official and all they knew for sure about the area is that it was meant to have a ride use the area (the peole movers used to use this area I think) but nothing was there now.

Viva Flynn!

I REALLY want to get down there before they close it but it looks like I'll be there the 3rd week of Oct. Oh well, maybe they will reopen it for TRON 3.

Bob Iger said that they have a Tron light cycle ride well in development, maybe the old people mover track will house this. it makes sense after all.

I've had that discussion with a few people. It would make sense and be cool if it did end up housing the Flynn's Arcade area later. Zooming down a light cycle track through Flynn's Arcade.

Joy.

This would have to be a super slow peoplemover type ride. Unless Disney has some new technology we never heard of, a fast ride on that track a la Rocket Rods in the late 90's, isn't built for a fast ride and will be prone to breakdowns.

Still, a lightcycle ride in Tomorrowland would be sweet! They should gut Innoventions to turn that place into a Tron City!

I heard that was why that Rocket ride was always breaking down and I figured thats why they got rid of it so soon. Or, someone got hurt, possibly by jumping from cart to cart - similar to how people died on the People Mover. I dont know though that would just be funny in some horrible way.
I also read that there is a grassroots organization trying to get the People Mover back up and had been told that the People Mover could possibly be brought back in the future but would have to be redone due to new engineering and safety codes.
The most I've read about the new Tron ride is that someone told one of the Jonas sisters that they had already made up a 3D test of one.

I really wish WDW would have gotten SOMETHING Tron related besides trading pins. Hopefully for the next film, they throw us a bone!

They skinned their Monorails to have lightcycles on them. That was pretty cool. And WDW does get to have that sweet new Seven Dwarves mine ride - that sounds pretty cool. It would be even cooler if it was a Grid ride of course.

Well, now I have to go Disneyland again this July when I'm in California. Such a hardship.

This is great. I was bummed that I wasn't going to be able to get out there before it shut down.

Pretty much just like Foursquare. You just check in to the places you're at.

Disney made a deal with them and stuff.

I'm glad I get to see it again before the Summer is over

I'm planning a trip to Disneyland for D23 Weekend. Hopefully they have more TRON stuff there!

It was pretty cool seeing Bruce's suit in person last D23!
