[OT] "We must party" t-shirts
Interest check

So, I've decided to have a couple of t-shirts printed for myself. Well, since the screen will just be sitting there, would anyone be interested in buying one for themselves? I haven't had a chance to calculate costs or anything yet, I'm just throwing this "out there".

Why should there be an officially unofficial t-shirt?

It's subtle enough for the people "in the know" to instantly spot one another.
It just has enough text to turn heads.
People will ask what it means.
    We must party.

Mods feel free to close the thread if you don't want me peddling fabric here, I just thought it would be a nice idea Smile

Exactly! I was thinking about adding a "www.unfiction.com" link on the sleeve for good measure, if it wouldn't be stepping on anyone's toes.

I love the idea. Maybe you can collaborate with TPTB at unfiction. This would be a great way to help advertise/sponsor the site.

Can you post the design? I might be interested.

I don't know, sounds like a cool idea personally, but will check with someone more important and get back. If you want to use the Unfiction logo though I would definitely get permission from SpaceBass, there are already T-shirts with the logo that help support the forum.

Yes! Laughing Maybe you could put "Super 8" on the front (perhaps even with the Super 8 camera/logo?) And the back with "We must party". Heh.

You mentioned putting www.unfiction.com on the sleeve, but I think that would be too long. Maybe just "unfiction"?

We must party. Rock On

Yeah, that's what I meant about not wanting to step on any toes. I mean, I'd love to collaborate with Unfiction on the t-shirts and donate whatever proceeds there might or might not be to the site, but I'd be equally happy to ditch the idea of the link so as to not cause any confusion about which t-shirts are official.

Regarding the design, I'm thinking of keeping it minimalistic and text only. "Super 8" on the front and "We must party." on the back in a font that closest resembles the one used in the trailer.

Hey! I was the one who actually said it. Razz and Thebruce was the one who first picked up on it.

Behold, the first posting of "we must party" Laughing

edit: drat, eleven, you got there first Smile
I was actually the first responder to the "We must party" comment from eleven72 suggesting its continued use as a meme Wink

*cough*anyway

Yeah, if using Unfiction's logo, definitely get permission, but it would be a great way to help support the forum!

As for Super 8 - I would strongly recommend against using the name if tshirts will be sold. If the tshirts are for those 'in the know', there's no need for Super 8 to appear on it. If it's to advertise and being sold at a price, then you could run into some legal risk if using the Super 8 name, especially if driving traffic to Unfiction under Super 8's name.

I say keep it an insider thing, stay away from trademarks entirely, and see if spacebass is open to having Unfiction appear in the design.

I think a shirt simply saying "We must party." would rock just on its own merit Wink

Although I somewhat agree with you, I really don't see us getting into trouble at all. There are fan t-shirts EVERYWHERE with "Serenity" on it, and they never caused anything. I think if we're going to make this tee, then we should do it boasting what we support proudly. And it would make it easier to spot. =]

Although I doubt JJ would go after his fans, we have to consider the movie company. They tend to get picky about copywrite.

An option.... instead of using the words Super8, why not just use a picture of a Super8 camera? Or even just a snippit of film that says "We Must Party" on it.

Kinda goes around the copywrite and still has the Super8 association.

We could just use the camera from the website without the text?
