I definitely agree with Sleight how footage of the Operator != working with the Operator. He's been filmed so many times. Why would TTA having footage of him mean they were on this side?

However, I do think TTA is way more concerned with Jay than Alex. They attempt to communicate with Jay by putting their videos as video responses (at least, they used to... I don't know why they stopped.) TTA--through videos and physical violence--attack Alex. Alex is definitely not with them now.

As to how Masky could have been behind the camera, I don't recall having the camera move... but he could have been behind it. I believe they just left a camera somewhere. Where ever that moment happened.

Please just consider what I am proposing. The plan is in three phases and makes perfect sense if you allow for the fact that we have been mislead by the perspective of MH, meaning we think Jay is important because we see him.

Phase 1: Marble Hornets proper- Tim and crew (choose to) work with Alex and Marble Hornets, now whether they knew about TO ahead of time is irrelevant to my idea. Somehow they figure out about TO and that Alex is important, important enough that TO follows him. They do everything they can to get Alex more sucked in, but ultimately he bails and gives the tapes to Jay. I theorize it is at this time Masky and co are born.

Phase 2: Jay begins piecing thru MH footage and posting online. TTA (Tim and crew) start replying back to Jay to draw him in in order to draw out TO. Why? They need TO to harass Alex to bring him back in. Why masks? Jay knows at least part of TTA. How better to goad him in then with the mystery and not feeling like he had any power/info on TTA? It works. TTA scares the shit out of Jay and TO comes back, going after Alex shortly after.

Phase 3: A lot of time has passed with Jay on the run. TTA brings Jay back in to draw Alex back in. Right now, where we are, is TTA trying to stop Alex from working with TO and instead fighting against him. Why does Tim still wear a mask? Tim knows about the memory loss. He keeps wearing the mask knowing that both Alex and Jay could potentially not remember what they saw, for one, and maybe it helps against TO. During those month long periods, TTA worked on Alex, unsuccessfully. Why did they take the videos? They realize that Jay doesn't remember who TTA might be, and want to keep their identities quiet to prevent him from chasing them IRL, so to speak.

This accounts for Tim's motivations and why he/TTA seem so hot and cold with Jay and Alex.

Problem with phase 3: Jay was about to give up when Alex sends him a tape, making Alex the one to bring Jay back in (entry 26).

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I remember somewhere someone was saying that, in the same entry, Amy was the original person holding the camera, that the camera was hidden during the first few frames, and then Amy holds it really shaky.

I don't personally see this, seeing that the timestamp is from 3:57 - 4:01 where we see amy, but if you can work TTA into planting the camera, you might be going somewhere with your theory

I talked about the inconsistency of the camera work during that shot a week ago.

It starts off really smooth and deliberate. It looks at the sink and out the window, then cuts off right before it heads to the closet. Three minutes later the timestamp shows that Amy is talking and has it shaky, prefacing TO showing up.

I am arguing this IS evidence of TTA planting it. It fits with my theory. This is part of my evidence. Please rewatch the video if you'd like to see how significant of a change the camera work is and the feel of the shooting for several minutes.

Also consider this: They NEVER use timestamps! How many videos have a native timestamp in the corner? Go look... EXACTLY! They wanted us to see it jumping so we would know that it wasn't linear.

Ha! what are the odds of that happening. anyways...

Where is it going into a closet?

3:57= in some sort of hallway
3:59-4:00 = in kitchen looking out window, end with backing up from window and turning around
4:00-4:01= strangely cut to looking at tile; Im thinking its the same room as the kitchen sink.
4:03= seeing Amy and walking up to Alex

the only minutes not shown are 3:58 and 4:02. You think that TTA hid the camera in a closet AND Amy picked it up and start recording in less than a minute?

Yep Smile. Give Troseph credit please. They show seemingly random shots for a reason. They aren't doing things for the sake of doing them. They were suggesting that it was being used before Amy had it. Why else would it be study, smooth, and silent. Then when she grabs it she INSTANTLY films herself and talks to Alex. Look at the camera work! She tries to hold it steady and can't for 10 seconds! The ENTIRE time it's shaky as all get out.

But before the cut of her? Smooooooth. It has significance. Someone planted it.

This is a really good theory, honestly.

Also, how Alex reacts to the camera fits in with this theory.

"We don't have a camera!"
"Yes we doooo!"
"....where did you find that."

And I doubt if Alex wanted to be 0 free, he would have gotten rid of that damned camera.

I haven't watched 26 in a while, but something just came to mind (and please correct me if I'm wrong), but... what if Amy had it the entire time but was being controlled by The Operator? We see a slow walk from Alex toward The Operator in 30-something--was it 34?--so maybe he affected Amy, too?

Prove that the Operator controls people. Then it can be an explanation for anything you like. Cool

I think the best we can prove of the Operator controlling his victims is in Return where Jay has dark rings underneath his eyes. Why would he draw black rings around his eyes? But even then that's a stretch since we don't know all that has happened. TTA could have done that to protect him from the Operator for all we know.

Also, I guess you could suggest entries 43 and 44 show Alex being controlled, but those are subjective as well.

oh i like that. interesting. rewatching it, and it is interesting that those 2 minutes are not accounted for.
I cant help but wonder why Alex would have taken the time to edit in the "help" at the end though.
also, probably nothing, but the timestap flips to 0:99 at the end, and a second visual tear occurs (similar to the ones that announce an incoming operator)

anyways, Sleight is on to something, since he is correct that there are never time stamps, and the jump in time must mean something. looks like that camera was planted to get Alex back into it.

I always assumed the video was planted before any of the taping. It explains why neither Alex or Amy knew about the camera, and Alex's confusion about why she has it. I think the intro before the footage in the hallway is to imply it was planted by somebody who not only had Alex's camera, but obviously some tapes of his as well.

I think it would be interesting if it was Skully who did it: he tapes himself in some sort of mirror then hides it. (Theres obviously no way to prove this, but it's my best theory and in the image he does seem to wobble a bit compared to the circle around him.)

You know what I wonder? If we'll ever see footage of Tim taping himself, the way Jay and Alex did/do. Considering that Tim was probably the first to be stalked by the Operator, and I know it's logical to think that cameras aren't necessary to be stalked by the Operator (although there's no other way to have concrete proof of Oppy sightings other than a recorded visual), but what if Tim has been recording himself at one point? Is that how he knows the tapes are bad news and tried to make Jay stop filming or attack Jay when he finds a treasure trove of tapes in the safe? Of course, maybe he saw Alex taping and knew that was bad too.

Also, I can't find the post, but someone mentioned Jay's apartment being burned down. Keeping Alex's version of the Operator's backstory in mind, I suspect that the Operator set the apartment on fire. Kind of like a ghost that gets powers depending on how it died (Operator was supposedly hung on a tree and burned, so now he can unleash his anguish by setting things on fire?) Although we still don't have proof who set that apartment on fire, and maybe we never will.

Also, I suspect that, even though Tim may be slendy-sick and crazy, I think he would still be able to pull off a "normal person" act while he is at the interview and in public in general. Kind of like the nice guy who you'd never suspect was crazy. At least, I think he could have done that in the stages he was in then. Not sure if he can do it now.

Sorry if my grammar doesn't make sense, kind of tired.

That was me.

In my opinion, saying the Operator set Jay's apartment on fire is just too much of a stretch of the imagination. We have never seen that the Operator is capable of either setting things on fire or of making things grow quickly (both of which were involved in Alex's 'spooky ghost story'), although the Operator itself has inhumanely 'stretched' proportions. There is no reason or motivation for the Operator to do such a thing, and, furthermore, we have seen only the barest indication that the Operator is able to interact with its environment in a directly physical way (Entry #14 is what comes to mind).

More important than that, though, is remembering why Jay left his apartment and went into hiding in the first place. Tim/TTA/The Masky Brigade posted a video to Jay's own Youtube account saying what amounts to 'The game is over. I'm coming for you, and you aren't going to like what happens when I find you.' I find it far more likely that it was in fact Tim or another member of the Masky Brigade that set Jay's apartment complex on fire.

I never said it was a fact. I'm suggesting that, because Alex seems to be drawn toward the Operator in 34 and then under its influence in 35 (due to the frame of the Operator aligning with the word "kill"), perhaps that's what was happening. Subjective, but I'm doing what the majority of people on these forums are doing: putting out a theory.
