Yes, it would seem Greensleeves is important... The only thing I could get from the video is that he made a mistake at 0:31. The lyric at that point should be "joy" I believe...but my timing could be off. Does anyone else have a thought on that?

Good on you for noticing the mistake - he's meant to be a concert pianist, so a mistake must be mean something. Unless he was imbibed. Hmmmm.

There are musical codes - perhaps if we can work out what note exactly he hit (or which he missed) we can work out a message from him. I'm not musical myself, so I won't be able to work it out. I did google to find a Piano Tab of Greensleeves with the notes he was meant to hit http://www.capotastomusic.com/piano_pages/resources/piano_tabs/greensleeves_piano_tab.pdf

Luci, can you ask Edward for more details he has overheard? Like what Ruthie is planning? Or I don't know maybe just an open ended question about wanting to hear snow towns juicy secrets? I just want to know more of what he has over heard.

I'm awaiting his reply Smile

My grandmother to the rescue, perhaps. The following information came from her.

She noticed two incorrect notes in the song. The first, at ~0:35, was a G that was meant to be an F#. At ~1:14-15, there's an E that's supposed to be a G. The song is played in E Minor.

Look here to see exactly which notes I'm talking about. Ignore what the notes actually are, this is probably in a different key and just to help me point out the suspect notes.. The first incorrect note is in the third bar of the second page, the note with the circled 3 directly above it. For the second, loop back to the first page. First note of the fourth line. Both notes are in the treble staff thingy, I guess. Maybe not?

What this all means, hell if I know. Probably need to line the incorrect notes up with the notes near them to see a message somewhere around there... and guess who just went to bed.

Update: on Peg's blog. Also, a quote from Hamlet on the Snow Town library page & this is in the guestbook (Yikes!)

I'm having a hard time getting in touch with you, Ruthie. Please answer your phone. I have heard about what Mother did yesterday. You must know, I had nothing to do with her plan and I do not approve. Peg Harmon came by and has invited me to the Library at noon. Will you be there?

ETA: imo Appears that Shakespeare quote is Ruthie's way of stating that she's not going down without a fight.

Your grandmother has good ears! I'm not sure what to make of the Greensleeves thing again.

Anyway, the library site has been updated with some lines from Hamlet.

Quote:
"My fate cries out,
And makes each petty artery in this body
As hardy as the Nemean lion's nerve.
Still am I call'd. Unhand me, gentlemen.
By heaven, I'll make a ghost of him that lets me!"

Hamlet by William Shakespeare

It has a rollover effect and looking at the source code, I saw that each line is "linked" like this:
Code:
<a name="90"}"My fate cries out,</a>
<a name="91"}And makes each petty artery in this body</a>
<a name="92"}As hardy as the Nemean lion's nerve.</a>
<a name="93"}Still am I call'd. Unhand me, gentlemen.</a>
<a name="94"}By heaven, I'll make a ghost of him that lets me!"</a>

(I cut out the style coding and had to change some > to } because it wouldn't show the whole code otherwise.)

I tried typing in "9091929394.html" but it didn't lead anywhere. This could be nothing and just a strange formatting thing but I found it odd that it'd be "linked" like that. (ETA: For those that don't know HTML, "a name=" is an anchor link. Usually there'd be another link like {a href="#90"} that you'd click and then be scrolled down to the matching "a name" link.)

And finally, Clare Triplet has posted in the guestbook. She is not happy with what NHT did.

I suspect that the 90, 91, 92 etc are line numbers from the source text that Ruthie copied the Hamlet quotation from. I did a quick line number count, and the quotation is 90 lines in from Act 1, Scene 4.

What might be telling about this scene is that it involves talk of drink and the appearance a ghost just after 12

...!

I am starting to suspect that Private is Clare Haynes. She fits the profile: a bit timid, seems scared, and reluctant yet conflicted about the snow people, while not wanting to incur Ruthie's wrath. What do you all think?

A friggin pine cone... seriously? *sigh* Confused

Maybe the Magician was post-imbibe when he stuck that in there? Screwy

Ok, well, on a more serious note... maybe someone got to the bucket first? If I think of spirals and pine cones, I think of the fibonacci numbers... but I can't find a starting point or reference to go from with that... Does the pine cone mean anything to anyone else?

Just that all pine cones grow in two opposing sets of spirals. Here's a fun Website showing how. Smile

I've asked Peg to inspect the pine cone for any marks. I'm hoping it's like the spiral that lead us to the howl page... markings of some kind on one of the two opposing spirals that will spell out something helpful for us.

This is light and probably not very relevant but I sent this to Private :
Quote:
Dear Private, what time did you notice the spiral on the hood of your car?
Hope you're enjoying the imbibing and festivities. Sounds like Snow Town is going crazy right now.
-Jordan

and received this back.
Quote:
Dear Jordan,

It was early. It was before sunrise. My guess would be around 5:30 or 6 am.

Voicemail changed,

"Drink," I said, presenting him the wine.

He raised it to his lips with a leer. He paused and nodded to me familiarly, while his bells jingled.

"I drink," he said, "to the buried that repose around us."

"And I to your long life."

then she said that she's gonna close the library early at 5 pm today (march 1) to prepare for the virtual book club broadcast at her house. She also said that she doesn't want visitors after 9pm.

the quote is obviously from the cask of amontillado.

Yeah, that was there yesterday in honor of last nights virtual book club. You should check out the recording, if you haven't seen it already. Someone posted a link... if I can find it, I'll add it here.

Did you notice they changed it? The a name links are gone and now the whole thing changes color on roll over. I wonder what that means...
