I'm sure someone has a theory similar to this, but i've thought for awhile now that Alex may potentially not be a good guy; Think about this: what if Tim is trying to protect Jay in some sense, what if Slender Man is a neutral chaotic type of creature and Alex and Tim originally upset it somehow, and now Alex has some type of ulterior motive while Tim is somehow partially enthralled, but is trying to save Jay as he knows he is innocent and may provide everyone some salvation from this epidemic.

I mainly think this to be somewhat likely due to the fact that in entry 35: Tim stabs Alex even though he was in extremely close proximity to Jay first.

*shrug* then again I could be completely wrong.

The problem is that isn't really coherent.

Alex had presumably been living a comfortable, quiet life after Marble Hornets; there's no real reason why he'd want to jump back into being haunted by The Operator. The events in entry #26 prove beyond a reasonable doubt that The Operator's return was a complete accident as well, and the fact that most of the plot concerning the MH tapes revolves around the fact that Alex was fucking terrified of him. Even if he's after Masky to get some kind of bloodlust or revenge, he doesn't really have a reason to work against J.

The Operator's motives aren't really identifiable since he's supernatural. All we know (and all we're likely to know) is that whatever he's up to is bad news bears. The most likely conclusion is that he wants to be left alone, and that his torment of Alex/Jay is a warning to others not to get all up in Slendy's business.

TTA's fucking frustrating. From everything I can see, he's nothing but a red herring. He hasn't aided plot development significantly, and everything he puts out tends to be nothing but bullshit and cryptic messages. It's like bad avant-garde poetry. It can be presumed that he's in league with The Operator because he's gotten clear footage of him multiple times (most notably in Return), something that's not easily done. Whether this is a relationship of active complicity or passive acquiescence on The Operator's part, it's unclear. However, it's clear that TTA aims to lead J to The Operator.

Masky's interesting. His reasoning for doing things is one of the big mysteries, and unfortunately we're probably not going to find out until the end (if we ever do). It's heavily implied that he's TTA, but again, not concrete. It's known that he is indeed Tim and that he has been stalking J/Alex since the beginning. His relationship with The Operator has about the same evidence to go on as TTA's. He's most definitely an agent of The Operator considering his magical powers.

The reason Masky didn't attack J is because J's, well, an idiot. Alex went through the motions and was able to get away. It seems to me that Masky's the one that has an ulterior motive out of all of this. The Operator can do whatever he wants, Alex and J just want to be left alone, so he's the only one that seems to be able to gain anything out of all of this. Note the "can do whatever he wants" clause also means he can control Masky, so The Operator might be using him as a puppet to ward off people that want to bother him. Or, alternatively, Masky's a sadistic bastard that likes seeing The Operator chop up people. Or finally The Operator and Masky are partners; Masky lures them to The Operator, and The Operator gives him something in return. However, it's a pretty safe bet that Alex isn't gaining anything out of this game.
