Nevermind, I solved it. Although it still doesnt make sense...

The thing that helped me was

I went the other way, and found 5 valid stock symbols. Using their opening/closing prices on the dates listed as indexes into the alphabet doesn't yield a word, nor does shifting those letters by the changes listed. The first symbol seems to have been recently adopted by a company - on the date listed, their symbol was different, but I couldn't find another company with that symbol. Also, the data for the 3rd symbol is odd - for the entire week around the date listed, the stock was only traded once. Most of the data is 0. I also tried using the stocks' actual change for the date listed, but that doesn't seem like the right path either.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Don't bring real history into it. Everything's there in the picture they provide.

Oh, and instead of making another post: that Mapmaker on the site is our Mapmaker, right?

How do I use the dates? i'm so stuck

Well the thing about dates is that they're usually chronological.

This tends to be my biggest bane in most of these puzzles. I always seem to ignore this fact. In this case, I was trying to assign letters to the dates, adjusted by stock...

I have been slightly disappointed with the last few puzzles, though. Even though they've stumped me, in the end the answer was something that could have been easily guessed if you simply thought about the subject at hand (video games, stocks, etc).

Not sure if this needs a spoiler, but I will just to be safe...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Did you try highlighting?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Well, yes, if by highlighting you mean simply dragging the cursor over text to "highlight" it. Tried that in numerous places. If you mean using the actual highlighter tool like MS Word has, then no, because IE9 doesn't have such an option (and I can't remember if previous versions do). I take it there's somewhere specific that I'm supposed to be highlighting, or is it what I'm supposed to do with it once it's highlighted that matters?

Ne'ermind. It seems I no sooner post these things than I stumble upon the correct..."procedure" almost immediately. Thanks!

Source Seal

Hi there,

The only puzzle seal I need is the source one. I've looked through this forum and not found any clues other than it's harder than the Hacker one, could anyone give me a hint please.

No one else seems to be posting about it so I assume everyone else has got it and i'm being an idiot. I've looked through the source code but couldn't see anything obvious.

EDIT: Wouldn't you know it, i just thought i'd have one more go, and got it straight away. It was me being a idiot.

Given the quick solve time, I'd be willing to bet it is 'our' Mapmaker.

I need to get faster at guessing the solutions so maybe one day I get lucky and score Theorem Champ. This last one, I started to shift the letters the wrong way and it obviously wasn't promising. When 12:09 rolled around I just skimmed the text and guessed the answer just in time. If I'd only done that at midnight lol.

Hi Rogi,

I appreciate you taking the time to point these out. Though while they are indeed misspellings, I wouldn't quite call them errors. Also, there's still one more you haven't found. Six total if I remember correctly...

This is today,

ETA: NM. I forgot ARG Rule #1. Thanks, little birdie. Wink
Interesting that spellcheck didn't even find the one I was missing.

What is Rule #1? Can't find the last error.

I'm just stumbling upon the obvious procedures and getting nowhere. Can you help me?

Well: I guess Rule #1 is really, "CTRL+A". But, rule #2 would be, "Check the source".
If you're using LEETKEY, doing a "To Upper Case" on the page would be beneficial.

Hm, well, if you're anything like me, what you're doing is probably correct; it's more likely a question of where or potentially how you're doing it...

Now, I would have figured that ARG rule #1 is that nothing is a mistake; unless it is, in which case it throws everyone off on a wild goose chase.
