So are we all pretty sure that "Theorem Expert" is going to be awarded for 25 solved theorems?

First, I know what I said. You don't need to keep quoting me - all of this quoting everyone keeps doing is making this thread cumbersome and unwieldy to navigate.

Secondly, who is Paris? You criticize me for not reading other people's posts and then you can't even get the name right of the person you have taken it upon yourself to defend. And why do you think Pairs Royale is a male?

Finally, I think you are overthinking the proximity of my comment to Pairs' post to mean that I was specifically targeting him/her (when, again, I didn't actually quote anyone). My issue was not specifically with Pairs Royale at all, but with the rather open conversation about using js hacks to solve puzzles, which I do believe is outside of the spirit of gamesmanship (whether its M's idea of gamesmanship or not is beside the point). And you speak to M's intent (which I never was so presumptuous to have claimed to have spoken for), but was it not M who constructed the theorem with the 2 second time limit? Do you think that was done gratuitously?

Yes obviously I quote your post for your sake because you are the only one who reads this post.

And nice work on picking out my typo. "He" is quite acceptable as a pronoun when gender is unspecified until the feminazi showed up. If you are so careful with language, maybe you can explain to me how these two sentences are consistent:

"Anti-social took me just a few minutes to crack in the fashion that M intended."
"M's intent (which I never was so presumptuous to have claimed to have spoken for)"

As for the social network problem, does 2 second matter? Two facts:

1. M does not accept an "inelegant" solution that is completed under 2s.
2. M does accept an "elegant" solution that is completed over 2s.

I think the answer should be self-evident.

From my observation, M carefully checks exactly which tiles got clicked, but does not care about the time elapsed between each click. If he really cared about 2s, he could have easily imposed another check on the timestamps of the clicks.

Based on above, a js hack that allows the user to have some more time to submit the correct solution is totally okay with me. You might disagree, but that is extremely subjective. After all, there are many different ways to get to a seal or an answer. Some people click around and figure things out, others directly view the source code. Some people finish all parts of a puzzle to get to the final answer, others obtain a partial answer and do a dictionary search. To say "this technique is okay but that is not" is being presumptuous and imposing an arbitrary judgment.

Anti Social Media

The anti social media puzzle is possible without hacking js. Just got it with 5 clicks and 40 tenths of a second left.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The key is to figure out the elegant solution.

What I Do in My Basement...

I've answered all other theorems I'm just having trouble with this one "What I Do in My Basement...", I understand how to get the numbers I just dont know what to do with them.

and secondly I cant get the Automaton seal it's the only seal I dont have besides the ones that are not puzzles, I got no idea with this one, what rule to look at and/or what to do with it.

any help would be great, cheers, Jonno.

help arrives!

Hi,

You wrote "I'm just having trouble with this one "What I Do in My Basement...", I understand how to get the numbers I just dont know what to do with them.

Basement help:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You said you have figured out how to get the numbers... Like many of M's puzzles, it is a number-to-letter code. The word it basically spells out would give you quite the score in Scrabble.

Automaton help:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'll admit, I sort of brute forced it. You see that you can click on the arrows left and right to get different rules, then hit "go" to get the patterns... Read M's description very carefully ... When you get the answer, it's not immediately obvious, but instead spells the answer severaltimesseveraltimesseveraltimes.

 Dedicated Forum

I've moved this thread out from Timewasters to its own subforum under Diversions. Feel free to branch out into multiple threads.

Going through this thread to find breakpoints would be a nightmare but if anyone is insane enough to be so inclined, I'd be happy to split it up based on your advice.

I'll take a look at it and do my best to split it up based on topics.

And thanks.

First of all, you shouldn't reveal that much on a public forum. Heck, even hiding it as a spoiler (like I did) still reveals too much. You basically wrote out quite a bit of the solution (although the hints tell you exactly how to get this far). Second...why do you think that should that be the answer and not just one more clue?

I'm starting to get bloody annoyed with the massive US bias on TMT. (To be honest it's expected from an American, but it's just that much extra Googling for everyone else.)
