Bah, they just wrapped that stuff in layers upon layers of plastic wrap so it wouldn't get wet, and then just dumped it in the water

O_O Maybe if that camera was cheap/old... but I wouldn't trust a hundred layers of plastic wrap around my camcorder XP </paranoidfilmmajor>

That said, the image would probably be a lot less... visible under that many layers of plastic wrap. I know it's distorted, but you probably would just see white with random blobs if you had that much wrapped around it.

Although encasing it in something airtight and plastic MIGHT work... just would have to hold it down, since it'd want to float.

(I'm still thinking 'reflection of water' though)

Or maybe it's not "submerged" in water, but they put like an aquarium or something over it to make it appear that way?

we'd have to get a super clean version to know this for sure, but i have the feeling that some of it is backwards and some is forward. the beginning obviously is forward, but the middle sounds like backwards audio.

i feel like this is another piece of evidence to the "something with water has something to do with slenderman" theory.

Good point... you could probably recreate this effect with some black construction paper, scissors, and a large plastic ziploc bag filled with water... *jots in his journal of guerilla filmmaking ideas* Idea

Watching the video a couple more times, I think reflection of water is very likely, the one gripe I have with it is that the angle just seems off for it to be a reflection.

Pretty sure nobody has brought this up in here, but I saw a YouTube comment that brought this up... to me it looks like instead of an underwater-looking-up view it's actually a reflection-off-the-water view. Seems a little more plausible to me, esp. because I don't think the guys have the budget for underwater hardware.

Yeah, It could be either now that I look at it like that.

As for the audio...

"In time...Alex...will...suffer...Do you know me/You will never know me. I will always know you."

Took out the pauses, pitched up the muffled part. This is about as far as I'm going. Hopefully other people can clear it up more.

Final thought.

Really guys? I thought someone might have gotten this by now. The image in "Broadcast" might be a closeup of the trees in "signal". Same 3D blue-red effect. A water effect might have just been added to it.

The video that was used in "signal" was a 1966 movie called "Silent Snow, Secret Snow".

The direct video source is here, and the voice used in "signal" starts at about 4:38:

I haven't seen the entire thing, Is it possible that the audio from "broadcast" is somewhere in this movie?

After I screwed around with the audio a bit, the first part sounds like a weather announcer saying "On Saturday..."

I can't make out the rest, but it sounds weirdly like a news report to me.

... yeah, I'm definitely going to agree with that translation. It's hard to disagree, especially with your edit. I'm going back through mine, and now I can't shake that translation at all. It's pretty spot-on.

Could be... that water effect isn't something easy to happen upon, though.*

I think there's a good chance this could be a clip from either that video or a similar one, though. The fake 3-D effect is a bit too similar...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I used to use Sony Vegas, the software Troy uses to edit MH, and I don't recall it having a plugin for that detailed of a water distortion.

Heh... now I'm thinking 'On Sunday, Alex will suffer...' Next TTA vid is uploaded tomorrow, showing Alex being hit with a rock. Razz
