With the way Jay reacted I can't see him agreeing to leave Tim there.

Why would Alex say "He's not going to follow us" all pissed off-like and then bring him with them?

I'm almost willing to believe he went back for Tim...

Watching Alex break his leg obviously left him guilty already. But just to part ways and LEAVE Tim there...

I'll bet he went back to the house after Alex pulled away.

I could definitely see this happening.

That would make for a creepy video. He goes back, finds Tim missing, searches the area (there are lots of woods around) and BAM- entry 29?

I'm REALLY excited about Jay's new involvement with the audience. He seems to have finally realized that we're entirely capable of helping him. And that if he helps us more (like with the subtitles), we can be all the more effective.

EDIT:

Maybe... But 29 was mostly in a tunnel, was it not? Plus I don't imagine Tim would have bled that much... The amount of blood in Entry #29 seemed more like... human sacrifice.. Alex broke his leg, not his skull.

Total agreement. He's being a lot less of a silent cameraman and a lot more an active player in the events.

Also we see more of him talking "to himself" when he's frustrated this entry, just like in 35. It gives us nice insight to his head.

Re-quoting myself because of page explosion and to add a theory.

Good god! That was awesome. And straight up answered questions, rather than posing a whole lot of new ones.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So we now know that Alex sent the tape (and has some serious disdain for poor Jay's on-the-run skills), that Tim is not dead (just crippled) and that Alex WAS stabbed.

Also that Alex is a cold mofo.

What do you figure about the distortion, guys? A lot of it, most of it really, seemed quite similar to distortion seen in Entry #24, right before Jay gets up and leaves through the mystery door in his apartment. It also didn't seem dissimilar to Admission's distortion, and the colors were doing similar things to some of the high-color distortion we've seen elsewhere. Where else have we seen that particular effect? I'm'a do a quick go-through of the entries in a bit, see if I can't figure out if there's some common thread.

It persisted as they were driving, so I can't help but think that it wasn't Operator-based. It didn't start in 35, so I doubt it was Alex, and didn't seem to be tied to anyone's emotional state or it would have started earlier too. What if it was not distortion specific to the events in the tape, but damage/distortion caused to the tape during a later Operator encounter?

I agree with this. Assuming the point at which the tape from #35 ends is the exact place that #36 starts, there doesn't seem to be any reason for the distortion to occur.

1) Since Jay's driving, The Operator probably isn't THAT close.
2) If Alex were able to cause that kind of distortion, we would have seen it in 35, not when Jay's driving.

Also, this distortion looks pretty similar to what occurred in #23, after Jay's run in with the Operator in the slender-basement.

That said, I think signs point to the distortion being caused DEFINITELY after the fact, and POSSIBLY by the Operator.

Also, I think it's interesting that while Alex doesn't have a camera, he also doesn't say anything about Jay having HIM on camera.

Perhaps pointing to the theory that the Operator is only drawn to Alex when filmed by that one specific camera?

OR Alex didn't realize that Jay had captured the Operator on this camera in the past.

Who wants to take bets on whether or not a tall, and some might say slender, man appears in Entry #37?

Wait, why was the camera zooming in and out and facing the opposite direction for a while? Was Alex playing with it out of boredom?

Holy crap we actually got some answers this time. I forgot what that felt like!

Theory: Alex is not causing the 8-bit-FMV distortion we're seeing here. If he were, something would have happened when he showed up in the building. I'm betting that something happened during the section that won't play that distorted the rest of the recording, and only by providence of it being the furthest from that event was Jay able to pull out the clip he shows here.

Odds are not terrible that, at some point, our ol' dependable TTA will show us what that is.

Broadcast: "I enjoy watching you suffer." Alex seemed fine with Jay freaking out; "I will always know you," -- Alex said that Jay wasn't exactly hard to find. "Will you know me?" Does Jay have any idea that Alex might be TTA?

:I HMMMMM

Then again, Alex was suffering with that stab wound. Broadcast could be melded to fit anyone's point of view. Except maybe Jay's.

I'm almost willing to believe he went back for Tim...

Watching Alex break his leg obviously left him guilty already. But just to part ways and LEAVE Tim there...

I'll bet he went back to the house after Alex pulled away.

One or two of you have already quoted this, but might I just say THISSS. Jay was freaking out, and still probably way in shock that it was Tim, even though Alex didn't seem nearly as surprised.
I don't think Jay would find anything there, however. At least not Tim just bleeding out on the ground. Maybe a cryptic message? Maybe a Slendersighting?

I'll bet even more that that's where ALEX went.

One thing I'd like to mention about the whole "How did Alex find Jay" is that we don't know much about Alex other than he and Jay were friends before. It could be possible that he knows his way around a computer and could have gotten Jay's I.P. through one of his Tweets. Just a thought.

I ENJOY THIS THEORY.
