Will Flynn Lives be "riding again" soon?
Speculation regarding their final post and the leaked video

Just to ask, do you guys think that after Tron Legacy comes out on Blu-Ray or just beforehand at least, the Flynn Lives viral might have one last treat for us? I think with that video it's entirely possible. Again, remember their last message: Our ride subsides...FOR NOW!

I kind of suspected about Thinker. Very Happy

As for Mako
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I kind of hope it's Dillinger Jr.

I don't think it is because of
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the scene they have been talking about that shows messages between Dillinger and Dillinger Jr where Dillinger says everything is going according to plan

As much as I would absolutely love to see this start up again, I'm afraid they won't be doing much more with this. I think TRON: The Next Day is for all intents and purposes the final bit of closure for those of us who followed the campaign. Remember, while the fan service and the entertainment value of this campaign is important, the ultimate goal is to market TRON: Legacy, and I don't think Disney would do any more with the campaign after the Blu-Ray/DVD is released.

I'm also afraid that TRON 3, if it ever happens, won't have a viral campaign/ARG because despite Legacy's success it didn't make as much as Disney hoped it would, especially after all the effort and money they put into marketing.

All that being said, I'd be totally happy to eat my words if Disney proves me wrong Cool

while illusion of life has some good points, i think we will at least see a little something from FL. Maybe a shift from Zack to Sam, but Bradley stated that they should let FL go... Sam obviously supports it and has plenty of funds to do so.

I think that there is always a chance that we will get a last Hurra! for the ARG. If it does pick up again it likely won't be as "Flynn Lives" but something reflecting the plot of the new movie(s).

Maybe I'm reading to much into "The Next Day" but I think we "found" the thing we were suppost do be looking for: that bit of ingenuity and creativity that Flynn represents. It's more keeping the spirit alive than actualy finding a missing person (no matter how much we all, in universe, want it).

So if the ARG Lives on it will be with out that particular Flynn.

let's not forget that if the arg does come back, who's not to say that it will be led this time by sam?

in the previous chapter he was more on the tertiary, independent side (encom vs flynn lives, encom vs sam flynn), commenting that there's more to it than just t shirts and posters a la 'flynn lives'.

this time around, he's embracing the movement and taking back the company -working within.

spec:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

on a different speculative idea, note that on the leaked video, the matthew roth article was by alex dervin. alan bradley also mentions an 'alex' during his press interview. this could be coincidence or not.

also, if we extrapolate who we already know is zack attack and isolated thinker, perhaps lora(actress cindy morgan) is *cindygirl* or another female involved on the fl messageboard.

mako could be matthew roth, or however remote, dillinger jr. serving as a double agent, but that's just an unsubstantiated guess. Smile

I've been blasted by that piece of movie. Packed with memories, ending on what's to come, just perfect.

" I think it's time that we... put Flynn Lives behind us."

I think it's the end of this ARG for good. Flynn has been found, and he won't (?) come back. Doesn't mean there won't be another ARG for the next movie. It just means that we... should put Flynn Lives behind us, that's all. Wink

" Sign me up, Tron. "
"Good to have you back, Ram. "

That, plus the music in the background, just blew my mind. Come on, Disney, start working on TR3N already ! ^_^

Agreed. Flynn Lives is, for all intents and purposes, dead as Ram/Zach Attack is no longer holed up in a basement, but now an Encom exec. I think if there is another sequel, there will definitely be another ARG, but probably not with all the live events, since that's what made this one so expensive.

What would be interesting to ponder for a sequel is if Sam tells the "good guys" (Alan, Ram etc.) about his little adventure and the truth about his dad. If so, then the guys behind Flynn Lives would know that he indeed does live (kinda), and would switch focus to trying to "retrieve" him and/or expand on his digitization technology.

Sniff. Sniff. What a downer. Reality didn't really sink in for me until after "The Next Day". Tron Legacy made a ton of dough (397m as of 3/15) even before the DVD is released. I do hope they make a Tr3n, but even if they do, I am convinced that Flynn Lives is dead. Any new ARG will be exactly that: A new ARG. Thank you everyone here still reading. The FL forum threads are already dead, and it's time for me to bid my "daily checking" adeiu as well. Feel free to reach out for me at render_nfoSPLAThotmail.com, but renderinfo is signing off of FL... for now...

Well, don't give up hope just yet. They may do one last FL update when the DVD/BR is released with Zack officially ending it, or letting us know he went on to bigger and better things, or something like that.

One can only hope...

Ignoring the fact that I am quoting myself, here's my final thoughts on why I think that the FL Arg is very "dead" and has been for a long while.

It's actually possible (and I believe LIKELY) that the entire FL SWAG and ARG stuff was done BEFORE APRIL 2nd, 2010!!!! This includes "The Next Day" video clip!

I think the FL ARG took a wierd right angle turn after Alan's live encom press conference and Sam's "parachuting" stunt, which happened April 2nd, 2010. I think "The next day" video was filmed months before the movie was actually finished, possibly even before April 2nd 2010. My guess is that the ARG had a LOT of "grander plans", but the direction was changed immediately after the parachute jump. I think the "original grand plan" of the FL Arg involved a lot more interaction with the encominternational.com and helloflynn.com websites but was changed midstream by "disney corporate".
To me, it felt like the ARG "ended" after the parachute jump (around April 2nd). I beleive that all the other FL ARG work and SWAG had already been previously done but not yet released. (Like space paranoids online, tracking Sam, Encom postcards, media/pictures yet to be released through helloflynn.com, the final "digital pulse" ARG puzzles, and all the unreleased SWAG pins and posters). They were just already finished FL ARG "assets" released in a "rush" or "differently" after April 2nd even though ALL those "assets" were already done and paid for, in my opinion. The final ArcadeAid puzzle in Oct/Nov, and the Digital Pulse puzzles activies (Gygax/Epiphany/16 city operatives) and SWAG could have been "mostly" planned and completed prior to April as well.

Here's my supporting reasons for thinking this way:

1) FlynnLives used the ArcadeAid.Com website and the puzzle back in March 2010 for entry into the Encominternation website. This site wasn't touched again until OCTOBER 2010.
1) The http://www.encominternational.com/ website had a bunch of information that was never used after Sam parachuted down. Pictures of Encom staff, Present Info, Future Info, Office locations, etc. info with no purpose in the ARG or movie. To me, it seems like a LOT OF DETAIL for background info to just make Encom look legit.
2) No more Hardington (he wasn't even in the movie), no more Intranet, no more employee intranet emails, no more RDP Desktop. Just a sudden halt, with Zack Attack just "archiving" everything on April 8th. Everything really felt half done and abandoned after this point concerning encominternational.com
3) I think the release of spaceparanoids online was planned well before the parachute jump, and it's release was sloppy and kinda of the "last hurrah" of the Encom website (except for that wierd ASUS promotion that was marketed to seemingly no-one).
4) Even though July 2010 was when the postcards and encomgames.jp badges were released and awarded, it's not a stretch to assume that these assets were finished well before April. Relatively speaking, a LOT of badges and SWAG were earned from CircuitCycle game completions. I truly beleive the CircuitCycle website and postcards were done well before April, even though they were presented in July.
5) HelloFlynn.com was handled "wierdly" in my opinion throughout the whole ARG. Although we got badges from unlocking media, HelloFlynn was just used as a backdoor way of releasing Tron Movie artwork and media IMHO. It was a very wierd tie-in to the FL Arg. It continued well after encominternational.com was abandoned, but to me, it's obvious that ALL the media was made well before the movie was finished. I'm guessing even before April 2010.
6) Between July and October 2010, NOTHING happened within the ARG. The pacing is weird, because between Feb and July EVERYTHING happened, then silence, until Oct-Dec, when they "cleaned up" the ARG and awarded the final SWAG. I think this time period is when "Disney Corporate" stepped in and changed what the FL ARG was doing.
7) It's possible that the Gygax and Epiphany puzzle sites of FlynnLives.com were done after April, but there was NO NEW INFORMATION in the puzzles, just releasing links to new trailers and SWAG. I still think all those assets were created PRIOR to April 2010.
Cool The original ArcadeAid puzzle happened way back in March 2010. The followup, which was when the ARG "woke up" in October 2010 was identical. Very identical.
9) The DigitalPulse puzzle MAY have been the only new ARG material originally planned prior to April that was new work done by 42E after April, since it included the 16 city participation. The whole execution just felt so different than the ARG direction created from Feb-July.

My "Arg is totally dead" theory is summarized here:
My opinion is that "something Disney corporate" happened after the April 2010 parachute jump. Disney seemed to do their "right-angle ARG activity turn" after April, and the preplanned Space Paranoids and circuitcycles content release was just the residual deliverables of the ARG content already finished. They (Disney, not 42E) used the Jul-Oct time period to figure out how to "clean up" and finish the FL ARG using assets already paid for and finished. Disney directed 42E's final "clean up" of the ARG with a totally new direction using the Digital Pulse puzzles and activities. At least they saved the best ARG swag for last.

In my opinion, the FL ARG has been dead for a while, we were just living off of 42E's original work (pre April 2010) up until the movie's release. Man, I miss it! Smile
