No worries, Zobot. Interacting with IGs like these & solving a mystery is just as interesting. Don't you still owe us that read?

And Wallace in an email wrote:
Robert did not deserve to die. Maybe if I had acted sooner he would still be alive. Corcas did not exist before Tartarus was opened now it does, curious that. Had a friend check up on them. They are huge! Microsoft and Apple look small compared to Corcas and they have their fingers in every pie possible. Obviously they are involved some how.

Inspector Tomas Galesh is part of these 'Rocket Men of Shen' not sure I can trust the police either, a source inside the MET has told me that Galesh took over the investigation he came from nowhere but he is protected on high. Gets anything he wants. What have I got myself into this time?

PS. Read Foilhead's recent post, I do not like the sound of it at all.

No time to work on it now, but we could use the key for the part1.txt binary because of the way that each answer flows into the next key. It'd help eliminate what's been used and what hasn't. We still have 19980 and Richard Cox.

Hi folks. Apologies for my abcense but work got in the way. Just a few thoughts before I turn back to hammering at the password on that fred_part1 file.

Have been thinking about 19980 and wondered if it may refer to this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
19980 Barrysimon (1989 WF2) is a Main-belt asteroid discovered on November 22, 1989 by David H. Levy and Carolyn S. Shoemaker at Palomar

It is named for amateur astronomer Barry Simon.[1] Simon is the founder of the Deep South Regional StarGaze, an amateur event held in the south annually since 1983. He is also a multi-term past president of the Pontchartrain Astronomy Society of New Orleans, LA.

It would seem to tie in with what Foilhead wrote recently on his blog:

Foilhead in his blog wrote:

Haven't heard from this source in a while actually so I'm not sure about the quality of the data, the content is extreme to say the least. Apparently a big electronics firm (no name given) is involved in a plan to extract a newly discovered element, to quote my source: "…it will come from space, they won't be able to control it…" What this element is my source didn't say although the content of the email showed my source to be quite scared indeed.

I also got very excited when I saw "Cyclops" mentioned as there was a Project Cyclops which served as the forerunner to SETI and would have tied in nicely but I see I was way off the mark on that one Sad

Hmm the binary amandel translated and decrypted seems to have the correct interpretation, but the key I get to go with it is nonsense:

Also, regarding:

I thought the KLG could be

based on the foilshead post.

Um... I don't know if this is still relevant or not, but after I e-mailed Louise, I got a weird message back from someone else.

I'm not supposed to say where I got it from, and the message has to be edited a bit, but the gist of it is this:

Quote:
just a note to say Louise never received your email.

Her email is: LouiseDramSPLATgmail.com

"Reg ego - 2 fid

KLG" - You will need this to understand the next one or at least part of it. The rules have changed.

Again, I saw a mention of KLG before in earlier posts, so I'm not sure if this is still relevant, but I figured I should pass it on.

Coffee There's no key for the fred.txt binary. It's ROT 17. Am amending my original post made kinda late last night just to get the wheels in motion with my instincts saying (still) that this drop to Louise isn't related to our code/key sequence thus far.

Being a wheat from chaff girl have concentrated on the ZIP PW, part1 of Fred's work he told Roxie to deliver at the right time. Maybe it's "George" (autopilot) related? ReygaPrax, you were missed and your "19980" research is mega interesting. TGIF!!

Hm? Oh. Err... I did get a email, but it's not really that interesting of one after the interview with Professor Maad was put up. Still, a promise is a promise:

Quote:
Bill is fine young man.

I do know of Professor Maad (Not his real name, Wallace changes names to protect his clients privacy) but I've never met him personally. He is a physicist at Cambridge although I understand from a colleague of mind that he is currently on gardening leave due a recent difference of opinion.

I believe Wallace is due to met him tomorrow afternoon.

Bill.

Again, this is all old information, sorry.

I am going to try emailing Wallace and Louise again, and possibly pester Foilhead for an email address.

EDIT: Messages sent to Wallace and Louise, and a question asked on Foilhead's blog. We'll see if any of them bear any fruit.

After hearing mention of Project Cyclops earlier here, I got curious and looked into it. Interesting and weird stuff. It's probably unrelated but here's some stuff I found if anyone's curious:

TY, Zobot. <3 hearing from IGs. Doing the ZIP PW doesn't involve mad-cipher-skillz. Smile Just d/l the file & put in your quesses.

You are terribly sweet :]

Just dashing off into town to collect some tickets so won't be putting any real work into solving this thing until later this evening but something just occurred to me. I have heard the term Blue Zone before:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Zone

A Blue Zone is a region of the world where people commonly live active lives past the age of 100 years. Scientists and demographers have classified these longevity hot-spots by having common healthy traits and life practices that result in higher-than-normal longevity. The name Blue zone seems to be first employed in a scientific article by a team of demographers working on centenarians in Sardinia in 2004.[1]

Didn't somebody mention that our dear friend Mr Sun didn't appear to age?

I admit this may just be an interesting coincidence but thought it bore mentioning for the sake of completeness.

I got a reply from Wallace! It has a lot of important info on the Red Ripped Club's history and what a Blue Zone is. More tonight when I can post it up here on a computer and not on my cell phone.

Wiki

I have created a wiki for this. It links back to the previous wiki. I made it members only to update to prevent spam, but can change that if people really object to registering.

http://mrkatisdead.wikispaces.com/

I am still adding everything to it, and that will take a while Smile

Hey! As promised, I am posting my most recent correspondance with Wallace here:

Quote:
David,

The 'Blue Zone' is an area in London (near Whitechapel but not in) it is a local name known only to those in the criminal underworld, police and investigators like myself. Police do not ever go near it, only really serious criminals visit its haunts and investigators only go there if all else fails. Have you read Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, he talks about a similar area in one of the cities called the Shades, same place different universe. Most people that walk in never come out except maybe in a black bag and that is rare because the police do not go in.

The Red Ripper sits in the heart of the zone, the bulk of the club is in a basement/cellar two floors below street level. In fact the bulk of the zone is below street level a true underground if you like. They have a tradition how it got started is lost but if you go in you have to wear an eye-patch so you do not see too much that's for the men, if you are not wearing one then you had best get used to having only one eye. Women are considered to be a sub human, they completely sexist in the zone. I heard a story many years ago now where name of the club came from: the owner's women had mouthed off to him in front of everyone so the owner literally ripped the woman's skin from her body using a fruit knife from behind the bar. The owner's name was Red Darkin, originally the club was just called: Red's

I understand that Red had a son by the lady in question he is called Red as well and he is very much like his father. Not my idea of a place to visit any time soon.

Your alternate angles sound good, thinking of visiting the suppliers that sold me my fridge, see where it originally came from although I think I already know. Best to check the facts though.

Murder sits on a three legged stool: Motive, Means and Opportunity. Means and opportunity are easy, motive however is a grey area. Obviously Kat had invented something that got in the way of someone's plan and he built it into a fridge design "...building something cold...". Question is what plan, does it have something to do what Foilhead wrote on this blog.

Who is/was Fred Sun? What is Shen? And what about the four that started Corcas. Many questions no answers, inquiring minds want to know.

Wallace.

On 18/03/2011 13:12, David Toboz wrote:

Dear Wallace,

I was wondering exactly what sort of club the Red Ripper club really is? You seem pretty nervous about going there, and in a recent email a friend of yours mentioned something about "The blue zone". I admit that I don't go to a lot of clubs, so I would like to know: What exactly is "the blue zone" and how does it connect to the Red Ripper? How bad IS the Red Ripper? I mean, I know some places are pretty tough, but is it bad enough that you're afraid you can't handle it?

If you're looking for an alternate angle on this case, maybe you should try investigating the other people that were in the 'The Rocket Men of Shen' club? You spoke with Professor Maad about it, but their names keep coming up in different places and it might be a wise idea to dig a little deeper and find out more events about what they've been doing in the past couple of years and stuff.

Pretty interesting, huh?

Phew. There is so much going on here it is hard to keep up... and more importantly, while putting the wiki together some of the little things in earlier posts and correspondence have now jumped out at me and there are all kinds of other things that we still need to follow up.

I'm still in the early stages of the wiki, but a few of the things that have jumped out:
    * The suited "fridge movers" who matched the description of Carrie Brown's killers referred to each other as Bill and Red (possibly the Red Ripper?)
    * 'The Rocket Men of Shen': a "secret" society at Cambridge- apparently name by F.P. Sun and having 9 members - we should ask Bill Rourke what he knows about it.
    * FP Sun didn't seem to age much (according to Edward)
    * The Red Ripper is in the Blue Zone where ppl seem to age slowly/live longer
    * 'The Rocket Men of Shen': included Joseph Kat (dead), F.P. Sun (now dead), Inpector Tomas Galesh, Edward Maad, Jeff Cox (recently died of heart attack), Dwight Sunderland, Johnny Howard, Max Drum and Dennis Stern. Jeff Cox was replaced by Robert Carne (Bob from the first game) who is now also dead.
    * Other than the Inspector and Maad, the only living members of 'The Rocket Men of Shen' are Dwight, Johnny, Max and Dennis who started an electronics company called 'Corcas', which is supposedly bigger than Apple and Microsoft.

There are so many other little things starting to jump out as well. This is REALLY getting interesting!

I don't think the blue zone age slowly thing is a real plot point, I think its just something a forumite posted up.

Ditto on the very interesting and THX bigtime for our Wiki. Also an update on Foilhead's blog with the code "atwemz oqzt"

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Answer: ROT18 gives "slower girl" which is an anagram for Will Rogers, the PW for fred_part1 7z file.

When opened the 7z file holds this MP3. FWIW: on my comp needed to extract the folder to a separate area to open it.
Laughing Album title:"What to do when you're dead" (2010) with addn'l comments. "I'm dead aren't I. This isn't my voice, didn't..."

I've shared the directory as well. http://www.4shared.com/dir/bkRF7U8T/sharing.html
PS. Just read Foilhead's recent blog - he is a bit weird don't you think? An odd perspective on the world.
