For those who haven't d/l-ed the "Max 7z" file these are the "poem" codes that Louise is suggesting are a Keyed Caesar:

Ok, so a Keyed Caesar, with shift 9 ... but what keyword(s)? Have tried a few to do with Robert Burns (and particularly around his freemason links) but no luck.


In fact, no luck on ANYTHING recently. Feeling rather tired this week due to a hectic time at work.


Interesting thing from Zobot's messages - I had assumed the numbered was the Group... but seems I was wrong. We have the numbered... and the Group (or COPS - Commision of Public Safety)

The link I posted for Asimov's Foundation talks about Psychohistory .... predicting the future based on historic trends, and then influencing the future by putting in place particular trends. Interesting given our situation where future (or present) actions seem to be echoiing into the past.

Not having much luck with the Land Registry, I've let Louise look at it now. I'm going to see what I can find out about: The Corcas Four. That is what the press call them, you would think they would have a website at least but no, not a thing. As far as I can tell they control multiple businesses and pass on their research directly through these companies. It is a quite weird business strategy. The four are very public shy a little bit in the extreme I think, what are they hiding?

There are two plain clothes policemen outside the office now, I can only assume my phone is tapped too.

Bill told me about the Shen Ring information, so much for protection at least for Fred Sun. I will have ask Edward if they ever had a logo for their society. Any ideas or thoughts are always welcome.


Have tried many starting anew with the "poem" codes, always shifting at 9 and looking at other shifts along the way.::sigh::

I haven't opened it yet, it's likely the Foundation book she was talking about before, in which case I'll look through it tonight.

 		Yikes. Have much of the shift 9 keyed Caesar worked from reesylou's email (page4 on the thread) to Wallace. Not spoilered as it's incomplete, am befuddled, and will keep plodding at it when RL gives me a break. Rolling Eyes

Bill Cunningham Deane-Tanner was the next original key but here it doesn't track & the original Sun msg was only five lines.

EDIT 1::The Somerton Man=CHANTS OF THE BEAST. The last is a playfair cipher which solves with that key. OK.Done 'tho where does it lead?

ETA:: The last line is a playfair cipher which solves as CHANTS OF THE BEAST with the kay the somerton man


Wow! Great work. I had tried jacktheriipper with 0 shift and reversed alphabet 0 shift.... but didn't think to try again after we discovered the shift-9

Yes, it is. THe game is Shift and the postcoard had '(' on it... which represents shift 9.


It will likely be at least another 24-ish hours before I get to do anything more, but amandel has got most of it so it will likely (hopefully) be solved by then.

Edit: Wonder if it has anything to do with Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast (666) or not. Probably not.

Amandel gave me a hint ot this game. A lot of reading to catch up and probably I still have not understood everything.

Just to complete:
Nabis was a ruler of Spartan who invented an Iron Maiden called Apega of Nabis (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apega_of_Nabis)

The fourth line decodes (using shift 9 and billcunninghamdeanetanner as key) into "Iof" but metropolis of iof does not lead to anything. Did I something wrong in decoding?


ETA: Pure Assumption: the fourth line should decode to something like "dei" than "metropolis of dei" would lead to "city of god" the book where the also an Iron Maiden is described.

From the Iron Maiden articel on wikipedia:
"Inspiration for the "Iron Maiden" may come from the Carthaginian execution of Marcus Atilius Regulus, as it was recorded in a passage in Augustine of Hippo's The City of God (I.15) in which the Carthaginians "packed him into a tight wooden box, spiked with sharp nails on all sides, so that he could not lean in any direction without being pierced".,[8] or by the account of Nabis of Sparta's deadly statue of his wife, the Apega.

 		I'm gone for a couple days and you guys went on without me! Just got the password for Max.7z. Well, to be fair reesylou did.

Now that is funny Smile I only suggested it coz hubby is a mad Iron Maiden fan so it was the first thing than came to mind.

 		I don't think this Kalan Vitall is actually who he says he is. Not that he's lying though. He sounds like he really believes he is a baron/chief scientist/Grand Constable of the Order of the Snake, but then most delusional people do. I was looking for more information about this Granbretan Empire he belongs to and found this. Anybody want to play along and email him?
