I contemplated it, grieck, but every time we're nice they just treat us like we're children and they're the adults that we need to have hold our hands. I felt this was blunt enough to get the point across.

This message is offensive. I'm trying to offend them. Because being nice has not worked, obviously.

Not a perfect letter. If asked by a mod, I'll certainly take it down. I just hope someone over there does see it and takes it into consideration.

I only believe that those Goons who this does apply to would hardly take it in the best of spirits, perhaps even an impetus to antagonise moreso (from/to both sides by how things seem).

Keep in mind there were some good Hybrids who were goons, some of which now lay low, if not having left completely, due to all this.

Honestly though, any message to Goons of the more negative dispostion would be taken badly, so really it can't be helped.

While I think I understand the impetus behind this thread, the message is not particularly in keeping with our "everybody is welcome, diversity is essential" ethos around here.

Most people do not respond particularly well to antagonistic challenges. I would be interested to see a rewrite of the above as an invitation with constructive ideas for how to work together.

The only way to be the adult in a given social dynamic is to act like an adult regardless of the provocation.

Understood. I can re-write and add a friendlier tone, or just disband the thread entirely. Whatever you prefer.

I ran it by a few other forum members who thought it was appropriate enough, if a little strong. Understandably overall feelings are not the strongest. I worded it the way I felt it would be best received by the SomethingAwful members, seeing as how any friendlier tries have been received as jokes. Speaking in their language seemed appropriated enough.

In the end, I take responsibility for my own actions. If preferred, I'll just erase the thread or do what I can to remove it. I did what I felt would get a point across to them. I never claimed it to be the right way.

Trying to offend the Something Awful goons is like trying to put out a fire by dousing it in gasoline. I fully acknowledge that I'm not a part of the trials, and therefore don't really have a horse in this race, but can't we just let them do their thing and you'll do yours? Are they hurting anything by not taking it as seriously as Unforum does? And, as someone who has lurked/posted at Unforum in some capacity since Year Zero came out, could we not stand to be slightly more like them? We tend to think the internet is very fuckin' srs bzns in this neck of the woods.
