So it is supposedly 2049 right???? Which would make Victor Garber 100 years old. But supposedly the president is rumoured to look like him only not like him THEN, like him NOW. I mean, I could have forgiven it if they had said a Young Victor Garber...no I can't....it's inexcusable :/

They just said Victor Garber, not Victor Garber now. Both phrases would be correct. If you met someone on the street who looked like Kirk Douglas, it would be correct to say, "He looks like Kirk Douglas," and also correct to say, "He looks like a young Kirk Douglas."

And oh, the other guy looks strangely like the character in Lost? That's like me saying, yeah...the notorious suspect looks like Chico from Chico and the Man...everyone who gets that reference (and can remember what Chico looks like) put up their hands.

Harold Perrineau is the actor's name, not the character's name.

as much as I love Lost as much as the next guy...I'm pretty sure it will be irrelevant in 38 years, especially in a futuristic dystopic state where America has fragmented to potentially warring factions

Lost will always be a relevant show to talk about. It ran for six seasons on a broadcast network, won multiple awards, and was the spur of much conversation in America for a number of years. Look back 38 years and many of those television shows have name recognition with American's regardless of whether or not they know anything about it.

I think it is a good thing that the game acknowledges the fact that these people resemble historical figures. If the purpose of the game is to incite change today, in the real world, then the future that is being portrayed must be our future and not an alternate future where Victor Garber and Harold Perrineau do not exist.

They are trying to appeal to the mainstream that has no idea what an ARG is, so weaning them into the world by making statements like they did is a good way to initiate the uninitiated.

I'm one of these mainstream uninitiated. This is obviously a large budget attempt at bringing ARGs (which I just learned about earlier this week) into society as a fun, legitimate pastime. I've played RPGs since I was little and I, for one, had a chuckle at the curtain flapping and name dropping. I mean, we're asking for willful suspension of disbelief, like in movies, right? That requires making connections for people, not alienating them with a completely foreign game world. I think we're in good hands here, and I'm pretty excited about giving this a shot. Hopefully we're not let down or led astray by some stupid viral marketing campaign, and we can all enjoy a great game! To all the veterans out there- I hope you can enjoy some groans at some things, and the inevitable noobs like myself that you're going to have to coach through this one. In advance, thanks!

wow people...I'd like to say that I pretty much agree with everyone on this issue. Though naming the actors did make me laugh I do understand why they did it. I hate curtain pulling as much as the next guy but pulling new players in is important and can only make the experience richer and since the game hasn't started yet I'm not going to hold it against them. Lets let the game actually get launched before we completely rip it to shreds. So everyone lets just take a sip of coffee and just try to relax a bit.

So, pretty confident another organization running the campaign was just revealed - tracking links from the email direct through (spoiled in case you want to avoid this knowledge)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Also, I set up a page to attempt to map out the regions/states/border/countries as existing in 2049
http://america2049.wikibruce.com/Land

and if you find any specific dates mentioned in any of the in-game content, mark it down at

I barely got started on the Good Day EveryDay News site, and had to refresh my Wiki formatting skillset. I still plan to spend much of today dumping info on the site pages, with the intention to add crosslinks later.

I posted something on twitter about the game, and I got a reply from this account talking about Serennco. Don't know if the name on the twitter account is relevant or not.

Annoyingly, the CAH was the one organization I definitely did NOT apply for a job with. I think if you put your email anywhere in any of the game sites, you'll get this today. Which doesn't make a lot of in-game sense, but let's see how it pans out.

On the other hand - we're all "chipped", Zooglio is aware of our every move online, and passes this information onto CAH. They may in fact be recruiting the world's population, every single citizen spying on every other, and CAH telling someone they got a job they don't remember applying for may be an effective recruitment ploy.... Yep - they've removed it. Mustn't have intended us to go sniffing through everything so soon. Can still find it all via Google http://www.google.com.au/search?q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fcouncilonamericanheritage.com%2F&hl=en&num=10&lr=&ft=i&cr=&safe=images&tbs=#q=site:http://councilonamericanheritage.com/&hl=en&lr=&prmd=ivns&ei=fwKVTZrIBMrQcbLExZwH&start=0&sa=N&fp=5cbc1c678812025a

Your article started it Wink getting everyone excited - and I am loving the weird stuff, I can not wait to read and participate in the wonderful debates I am sure will pop up with this - and there is so much to wade through that is out there you can find from the simple trailhead so not so bad that they are hiding some... I was on Zooglio and clicked the enoon button and it pops up you are at work and can not access HAHAHAHA

There is some nice dark, wry humor in this game

Is so far the zooligonews twitter account the only social media account? Anything on FB or twitter or other Social media sites?

I "accidentally" found a Facebook page which has a password-protected access to test a Facebook app for the game. (I couldn't see anything, so I can only guess what it could be for, such as an interactive map of the plague zones or a way to vote in the ballot initiative)

There is also a page out there which looks like it's waiting to be used (as it displays one of our known actors and character name), but it could either be for in-game reasons or a meta purpose to raise money for a cause. I'm reluctant to post such links. If you must know, the text there says:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We're working on writing something so riveting for this section that we recommend you sit at your computer and hit refresh over and over until our story goes live.
-- but now I see that it is the default text for dozens of pages on that site, so it's less exciting now.

Speaking of pages I shouldn't be seeing, I have inventoried over 50 unique headlines stored in Zooglio -- some of them read like a chronology of unfolding events, and at least one could be considered a spoiler. It saddens me to find such goodies accessible before we're intended to see them, which is why I am also reluctant to post my inventory to the Wiki.

I did some googling, twitter searches, etc. but didn't come up with anything. And no posts until they've formally kicked it off, obviously. How I hate the waiting game... Wink
