I've started some discussion on the Facebook game site - anyone else joining in over there?

Love that Victor Garber is in this.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Anyone live in Chicago? Looks like their hinting that we need to attend this event http://www.uic.edu/jaddams/hull/_programsevents/_upcomingevents/_2011/_human%20Trafficking/apr14.html

Not sure how well this is gonna work out... VERY guided, and I don't like connecting to my facebook to play. I'll hang on for a while and see how the game progresses though... It's got such a great team, budget, etc. I'm reluctant to let it drop.

This is a real event..

It is listed on there website... I do not feel it would be any special benefit - For the game, but if interested it would promote the causes the ARG is promoting.

Mmm, I agree that I don't like the fact that it automatically slots into Facebook. I don't play any of those Facebook games and I'm not much into video games in general. I like ARGS because they are alternate reality, not virtual. But I'll follow along for a while, to see how it plays out.

I don't belong to Facebook; I guess they don't want me to play along. I hope people here post some summaries of what goes on inside that walled garden, for us lurkers. I'll check the wiki for screen shots and puzzles, I guess. The rest of the external sites should still be accessible, but they might not update much. I knew a Facebook app was coming, so I'm really not surprised this is their platform of choice for building a community around their game. To be honest, I think I just wanted to watch the videos, like a web series. I assume those won't be private links.

Yeah... I am on the fence about the FB part - I've been working on the wiki and will try to make sure to share stuff there and here.... maybe I can ask you for help with the FB stuff as I am not the best puzzle solver, I am much better research and talking about ideas and cranking out wiki stuff Smile

store secrets.
not a moneymaking scam

turns out theres a nifty little store for swag, yes they want to make money off of this. wonder what it will go towards...hmmm. ooh! charity efforts? maybe keep this afloat? sarcasm but i thought that should be made clear before anyone started ranting about how they just want to make money etc. now, the interesting part, after some snopping around, i found a shirt with a emblem for an apparently un anounced group, called asp.
http://www.cafepress.ca/America2049 i dunno bought you but im getting a serrenaide water bottle XD

*the asp emblem can be found on tshirts.*

Question about the "hidden codes" in the facebook games

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
has anyone made a list of all of the little codes you find hidden in the assorted files. The ones that when you type them in the search zooligo box, they lead you to a continuing message between people... and on that, anyone have ideas what that is about??? I am guessing the one avatar is Ken and one is M - who is the other, Cindy??

ok... so... I did the 3 parts to Portland, made note of all the little codes in the content, and kept notes of most everything that showed up (save extended text content in images and whatnot), and non-FB links where available...

If you want it all spoiled and just get to the finish for this week's mission, read on. There are no images here, as they're all embedded in the flash, so will either require screen caps or scraping the flash/web requests to get them; haven't bothered with that..yet. =P

On the map you can keep clicking the boxes, and chances are you'll get 10 capsules before you run out of energy, so it's easy to replenish and finish the entire level in one sitting...

Note: that's how they spelled both instances of 'graffiti'

Lots of stuff to (perhaps) get archived on the wiki. video/audio as well.

But yeah, not sure what to think just yet. It may end up that the facebook portion of the game is the linear, guided experience, which extends to other sites with other arcs, but I'm not convinced yet. It does seem very linear and episodic so far. And definitely has potential to be preachy... Confused

Thanks! I can help put stuff up - I made a America 2049 on Facebook page on the wiki - not sure how you were thinking of organizing it (by mission?) I can help put this into that page...

I've noticed the recent string of ARGs and similar are trying to reach more people and thus are "teaching" how to play....

Ugh, this is just daring to go meta Razz
I'll just say - IMO, a good ARG shouldn't have to "teach" anything, unless it's part of the story itself.
But anyway... heh
