Definitely Marble Hornets.

Marble Hornets has the best storyline and suspense. TribeTwelve has the best visuals and editing by far, but Noah is FAR from a good actor. He is waaay to monotone.

I do have to say... In light of the recent discussion of Noah's overuse of expletives, his recent Twitterspam actually made me laugh.

He mentioned everymanhybrid in a recent twitter. Could we be looking at a potential crossover?

Not particularly. There's a thread about this over in Slenderman Mythos - people from EMH, Noah, and a few other Slenderbloggers had a discussion going on in-character online. Seems more like a 'gift to the fans' than anything else after reading it, though.

MH was my first, and definitely the creepiest. I've watched all the MH vids/read his tweets in the last 2 weeks and have spent more time lurking in the forum than I care to think about because of it Laughing

Just started watching and caught up to date with TT and I gotta say I actually really like Noah. I know everyone hates the swearing because it (apparently) lacks realism, but to me his latest installment (no spoilers) where the f-bomb is dropped several times whilst he's obviously creeped out the buggery seems more real to me than Jays almost polar opposite complete non-reaction. Gotta say it, but I was totally not ready for the awesomeness that is SLENTACLES!

Can't comment on EMH as I haven't started on that one yet.

I think a lot of people have rose tinted glasses for MH simply because it seems to be most people's first. Plus the 7 month gap where MH went on hiatus and TT 'filled the gap' probably skewed people's opinions and/or expectations of TT.

TT is great. MH is great. For different reasons though. I don't think a comparison is particularly a great thing anyway because its like comparing King Kong to Godzilla. Or something. Rolling Eyes

I really like Tribe Twelve a lot. To me, it's super freaky and suspenseful. I don't really think it's like MH a whole lot though. . . There are some similarities, but I think it's different enough to keep me interested and not just give it up for MH.

However, Marble Hornets is still my favorite. For one, I've been into it longer (I only just got into Tribe Twelve a while ago). Also, I find Marble Hornet's plot to be tons more complex. I could sit and talk about MH theories for hours. Tribe Twelve makes me think, too, but not in the same way. When I watch TT I think 'What's going to happen?' and when I watch Marble Hornets its more like 'WHY is this happening?' and those are the kind of questions that really make me LOVE MH. =D

I have shifted lately to liking EMH and MLanderson0 better than either TT or MH.

With MH, each step is the story unfolding, whereas with TT it's more, "So, finally got an idea for the next video!" And yes, it still feels that way post-Karl. It gets better, but not better than MH.

And, awesome as TT's video effects are, I wish he'd restrain himself and dole that shit out a little more sparingly, so it stays effective. Everyone loves tentacles, but meandering video essays with random threatening phrases sprinkled through plays to me like a PowerPoint presentation from a mediocre hell.

Marble Hornets by far. But I still like TribeTwelve's story and their version of Slendy.

^^ This.

Sums up why I love TT in a different way to MH. TT's Slendy is menacing in ways that far surpass MH's version of slendy.

MH's Slendy - Stalker/Otherwordly/Non confrontational

TT's Slendy - Stalker/Otherwordly/Highly confrontational and creeps slendytentacles up your nose when you're asleep.

Hands down, TT's Slendy wins.

And whilst we're on the subject (after watching all of EMH's vids)

EMH Slendy : Stalkerish-meh/Otherwordly/playing second-game to HABIT

Annnnnd I'm spent.

What I hate the most about TT and EMH is the stuff in some of their entries that's just totally irrelevant to the series, like Noah's Thanksgiving dinner/Wii Sports entry? And the ten minute walk in the park entry from EMH. I mean, MH has some filler, and a few entries where not much happens, but it always maintains the creepy/suspenseful atmosphere.

Yeah, i feel the same way in that there is just too much filler in both EMH and TT that is irrelevant and even relevant at some points that are just too far drug out (noah's circle cursing bush stabbing adventure around the exterior of his house)

In EMH the park video does prove to be significant. Later hidden videos and other events point back to that day. Something could have happened there that we are not fully aware of or the park itself is a significant location. With that, I don't tend to see the Day in the Life video as filler.

With EMH, everything has a bit of significance. There really doesn't seem to be any filler.

I had assumed the locations would be important later, but still..... did it have to be a ten minute boring video just to show an important building or whatever it was in the woods? I just can't help but compare it to MH, which does it so much better. Like Entry #34; it's a four minute entry of Jay walking around a house that's not important until later, but it's chock-full of suspense, and it answers at least one question brought up previously. #31, the ToThePark entry, is the same way, and it has, in my opinion, one of the coolest parts of any entry.
EMH is by far the least accessible of the Big Three, but thats because they're trying to be as immersive and realistic as possible. This means they never admit to it being a fictional series or hang lampshades, they *don't* give the viewer all the information, they even get irritated at the viewers. Evan gets annoyed at the fans' insistence that they share everything. And finally, this means you get a lot of time with nothing happening. The beginning of the series is particularly intolerable...the horribly cheesy fitness series. The sleep experiment that took *forever*. The day at the park which took forever. All the time they spend literally just yapping at each other about insignificant shit.

From an OOG perspective, they're perfectly aware of how annoying that is. And they don't care, because it's necessary to make it seem as realistic as a Slendervlog can be. But all this time watching yap about stupid shit means you understand them and appreciate them as characters more. And this is why the four major EmH threads have almost as many posts in them as the MH subforum (a series with 8 times as many subscribers on Youtube). And why the fans sent them christmas presents. Because of the focus on characters.

So yeah...that's why A Day in the Life is so intolerable Razz

EDIT: to answer the question

EMH is best because of the focus on characters and well developed--and rather trippy and mindfucky--back story. At first watch, it seems very unfocused and busy. And then you start to realize....everything appears to be meticulously planned out. And I have a lot of faith in Jeff's writing that everything will fit together perfectly.

MH is second. It's the scariest of the series and the best directed, IMO. I don't know what else I can say. It's also, really, the most professional series. Like these guys are actually good filmmakers.

TT is third. Something about it bothers me....it seems too simple, and there is no basic goal, no basic driving plot. The frequent Slenderman appearances are great though and the effects...fantastic. Really gorgeous eye-catching stuff.

Out of the big three, MH is my favorite. TT is visually the best, and I love that their slendy is actually menacing, but the characters and story leave a lot to be desired.
When I first started EMH, I loved it. Even more than MH. But then I just got confused. That Damsel video was the last straw for me. I had no idea who the character was, what was going on, and I just gave up on EMH. Shortly after, I found unfiction, and realized that there was like 2 blogs, a few twitters, another youtube account, and livestreams going on that I just didn't even know existed. If it takes that much effort to just have a basic idea of what's going on, that's when I get out.

So for me, MH = MLA > DH > EMH > TT

I prefer MH, but TT for me is a really close second. At first TT was way too much like MH (especially with the operator symbols on the railing), but the nature trail video is my favorite slenderman video in all three series. It has amazing effects and has constant suspense, making you wonder where slendy will show up next. I think EMH is just dreadful though. I'm still confused what they mean by "their slenderman character" in the first couple vids. The most recent one I've watched is when
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
they find all of the bags with dead animals hanging in the woods
. I'm probably going to watch more EMH to see if it gets better though.

EMH - I'm lost already. Brain frazzled
TT - still awesome, brain can cope with this one, hella good eyecandy!
MH - still waiting (grrrr) impatience coping not so good

But I found a new love in MLAnderson0 (insert throbbing heart emoticon)

The point of that (from what I remember - I followed EMH when they were starting out for a month or so before I stopped) is that they were originally doing a fitness series on YouTube and as a joke (because they knew about the Slenderman mythos) made a fake Slenderman to put in their videos. Then they actually started getting Slenderstalked, and shit just went downhill from there. Time travel, the Rake, Habit, the Seven Trials, something about four children... it's crazy detailed, but if you do your homework on the wiki you can figure it out pretty easily, at least the main-series stuff (the Trials of Habit is sort of a side-game).
