Well, the title of module 8 is "artwalk", so that would make sense in conjunction with that ^^^

Also, first thing that hit me when I saw the words you unscrambled was Escher. Wonder if that'll have something to do with the pword?

Might be slow on the upkeep, but I'm guessing therefore the "be, being, been" doesn't have anything to do with this module but referred to the last module?

This is the text of module 7:

Quote:
Be, Being, Been

Where would you go, if you could only go one place?

Would be a place in space or a place in time?

Time travelers.

Space travelers.

Ocean voyagers.

Cross-country trekkers.

Did anyone every find what they were really looking for?

Will you?

Yes, but equally on the list of modules: http://learningonthemoon.wordpress.com/2011/01/01/introduction-to-the-modules/

Just went back to check, they've all had the titles, as appear in the list of modules, at the top of the page of each respective module. So I'm not sure how much of a clue it is to get to the next module, as it is about what's in this module. Looking at module eight for example, we already know it's called "Artwalk", which fits in perfectly with what amandel decoded.

Oh, yeah, forgot that was the title. In that case, it likely isn't a clue to anything. So far, the titles have just been descriptors of the module's text and it's general theme.

Except for that last one...

That's still really bugging me. All of the past modules have had text that could be somehow related to the answer. That last one, History 101, however, had absolutely no relation that I can find between those letters (or the people they represent) and the answer. I would Email Lane, but I have no time to do that sort of thing right now. Could someone else maybe? Since we've already technically solved that one, I doubt he would have a problem with shedding a little light on the matter.

Sorry, I'm just really detail-minded and stuff like that bugs me.

on a whim, I Googled: ""luminescence of the sun" ism" and got four results... two of which were this site and the WOTM site.
two of which were related to... ions!

I'm doing more searches to see if I can locate the connection, as the page behind the result I clicked on supposedly contained those words, but I couldn't find them.

So far, I've just noticed a number of pages that have the word "mechanism" written as mechan- ism or similar. tried "mechanism" and it didn't work.

I'll keep looking.

ETA: Nuts, thought I had it! I found a page (http://iopscience.iop.org/0004-637X/633/1/262/63007.text.html) referring to the "interstellar medium (ISM)" Interstellar, as in throughout space, and medium, as in something you make art on. I thought I had it so strongly that I tried using it as the password multiple times thinking I had simply mistyped it.

ETA2: I'm so convinced the ISM has something to do with this, that I found this page: http://espg.sr.unh.edu/ism/what1.html we can reference it later when we get the inevitable second clue, which I'm sure will be asking for something more specific about the ISM.

Good work on the interstellar medium! Makes a lot more sense than an ideological 'ism'

Now, part of me is hesitant to post this, in case I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off base again like I was with the Ayn Rand guy... but this can't be coincidence, surely?

http://www.artwalkny.org/Auction.php

This art gallery is called Artwalk, the title of the eighth module.

Scroll down to the painting by Sarah Bedford. Note the title of the painting.

MUST be some connection, surely! I tried the artist's name as the password with no luck, but can that really just be coincidence?

It's a stretch, but I don't think it's as big of a stretch as the last time, considering this one has a lot to actually connect it to the puzzle.

Don't know what to do with it at this point, though. I think at this point we're just waiting for Lane's second clue.

ETA: Either Lane caught another tagging mistake, or I just wasn't very observant last time. I'm now convinced the ISM is the way to go. thIngS i MisS is now tagged "ions" (just like that one with the blue orbs was). This solidifies the meaning behind the "ions" results I got after doing that search.

I would e-mail him but don't have his e-mail address?

Finally got an e-mail back from Lane. A couple of intriguing nuggets in his reply:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
All of the information will become relevant at some point, as the last modules require comprehensive knowledge. Every clue is not necessarily related to the passwords. Also, simply figuring out passwords is not your only task. There is more to the game than that.

Is it dead?

Well, this certainly came out of the blue, but, to quote a certain "SeaDevil" from another thread I've been reading up on...

"It would appear the universe has stalled."

Is it normal for ARGs to just... stop like that? Or has this thing died due to some unforeseen circumstance(s) that we will likely never even know about?

Hoping for the former, it would be horrible for the first ARG I try to play to just... die like that.

My schedule is beginning to clear up, so, once I take care of a few things, I might try sending an E-mail to Lane and seeing if I get some kind of response. If I don't, then, at least I've found another game I might play...

I don't think this is so much "dead" as we just haven't figured out how to proceed yet.
