Great job! But I think there might be more in there than that. There are some other scratched out or partial letters. I'll take a look through, too.

Also, did anyone notice that it says "grieving window"? Possibly a typo, but who knows.

As for the binary, I came up with 191 115 15

or

64 140 0 in dec/char

@ or ¿s in text

Not terribly useful, sorry.

I think thats all with the letters! In the whole text, even in the headline some letters are scratched up a bit, but I think that is only a relict of copying an old newspaper article! I didn't found any usefull thing in the half-readable letters, but maybe my eyes trolled me! Wink

I thought also the binary isn't the right way, but this was my first idea, because 2 different symbols in 5-symbol-groups, could have made it! Surprised

Not that this tells us much, but maybe someone will find it useful, here's my first correspondence of hopefully many with Pickman:

Hi!

My name is Zobot, and I just wanted to let you know I found your bloggish thingy and really have enjoyed reading it. You have a very distinctive style of art! I like it.

I hope things are settling in well at the windmill. It sounds like such a curious place to live! How did your dad acquire it?

Quote:
Hi Zobot!

Thank you very much. I'm hoping to get some of my actual paintings up soon, but I'm glad you like the digital stuff.

Dad didn't say much about how the mill came to him. Guessing it was just another of his real estate acquisitions that he couldn't flip.

Tom

Beastriker-I think you're probably right about the letters. I thought I'd spied something about "hate", but it was MY eyes that were doing the trolling.

The marks on the bottom could also be as simple as L or I and T.

There are also a mish-mash of upper and lower case letters there. Maybe the uppercase letters mean something? HITSIE or HITSVIE is what I'm seeing.

I can't imagine what that could possibly give us, though. Remember, guys, I'm still pretty new at this.

Asked about insulin and got this reply:

@JeztheNun Insulin? No, nothing quite that serious, but thank you for the concern. Glad you like the blog!
Quote:
This is Jezebel, the girl who asked about insulin on Twitter. Your response actually has me a little worried. If not insulin, of what are you giving yourself shots? Do you have a medical issue? Are you using drugs? You can tell me and I promise I won't judge you. If you ever want to spill your guts to someone, feel free to email me any time. Keep in touch, and take care.

I apologize in advance if this comes off as brusque. Yes, I have a medical issue. I don't really wish to discuss it, as it is somewhat a sensitive matter with me. I am just getting used to posting my entries online; I shouldn't have mentioned it in the first place, and will likely avoid the subject in the future, barring some drastic change in my feelings.
I appreciate your concern, but I hope you will respect my wishes and drop the matter. I promise it is nothing you need to be worried about

Pshh, don't people know that the worst thing they can possibly do is "accidentally" mention something then refuse to talk about it? He may as well shout from the rooftops "pry around in this personal piece of business RIGHT NOW!!" Laughing

I wonder what it is that he's injecting that's not insulin, is less serious than diabetes (but still needs regular injections), and is totally medical not recreational. I know there are some types of injections for severe depression, schizophrenia, ect. So maybe it's a mental health issue? Although I guess he could have an injury that "requires" continual injections of pain killers. It is technically a medical issue, although it would explain his getting defensive since users have a tendency to cross the line from medical to recreational without wanting to admit it?

Anyway! [/end babbling]

the first thing that i thought of after insulin was anti-psychotic.

long acting IM injections such as Risperdal are taken every 2 weeks, and are used to treat bipolar and schizophrenic patients. short acting injections such as haldol are used for the same reasons, but only last a few hours to a day at the outside, depending on the metabolism of the person injected.

horrific side effects notwithstanding, i hope that if he IS on an anti-psychotic injection that he doesn't just up and quit. coming down off of one can cause all kinds of things, from uncontrollable tremors and seizures to full blown hallucinations.

or... maybe he should come off of them. Wink

Anti-psychotic makes perfect sense, given the current knowns. Anything out of the ordinary could be attributed to a psychotic break, including visions and odd happenings.

I don't really want to be the one to bring the subject up to Tom again, though, since I promised him I'd lay off. Anyone else want to take a whack at it?

I've found that he's extremely guarded with his answers, but maybe I've just been barking up the wrong trees. I was wondering if I should ask him what he makes of the note on the bottom of the article, or maybe bring up the "Beware the men in black rings" thing.

What does everyone think?

Me and my boyfriend were asking Thomas if he would accept some photos from Brazil when this happened:

Quote:
Neozao @tpickman About the photos, we should e-mail then to the pickman@theabandonedwindmill or the pickman@theabandonedwell?

Quote:
tpickman @Neozao Windmill. Where is the well address listed? O_o

tpickman @Neozao Thanks for the heads up. The same damned mistake cost me $12 when I registered my domain.

I don't think it's that easy to mispell "windmill" for "well", but anyway. And JUST IN CASE, screenshots.

EDIT: since he edited the page seconds after that, maybe this can be an OOG thing, so I'll put it on spoilers to not ruin everyone experience.

I was going to send an email about the "hidden message," so I went to the blog, clicked on the "contact" link and Alt-C'd the email address. As I was about to send the email, I decided to check twitter and saw that he already know about the secret message, so I aborted my email. After reading the post above, I did a quick Alt-V to see what email address I had copied, and....

pickmanSPLATtheabandonedwell.com

Just checked the blog again and the email address is back to normal. Checked www.theabandonedwell.com and it is not a valid address.

Interesting....

EDIT: removed the evil "are" for redluckycharm Wink

Looked up Wayne County, New York on Wiki since it's the setting of the newspaper clipping. Apparently it's an important location for the spiritualism movement, which is cited as having began March 31, 1848 by the Fox Sisters, local residents of Hydesville, which no longer exists but "was a hamlet that was part of the township of Arcadia in Wayne County."

Oh God, daendil, you quoted me with that horrible "are". Damn english and lack of quick-edit skills.

Also, I don't know why I didn't think this in the moment when the "wrong" e-mail showed up, but there's a well on the Pickman's Model story, and with that photograph thing on the blog we can guess the way it is going.

I see a possible HITSVICE

And considered Bacon cipher for the lines, but it is only 4 letters if that is the case... hmm

Still only leads to a 404.
