Super 8 monster and H20
hear me out

Has anyone had the idea that the three dots could represent a water molecule (H20)? I just had the epiphany that this creature could be some kind of water/mineral formation that has the ability to break apart and come back together when in close proximity. Also the water tower in the poster/trailer seems to point in the direction of water being a main focal point of this movie. With J.J.'s efatuation with the deep sea/caves, this could be a big possibility. Any thoughts/comments?

Also, if you get a screen shot of the trailer at 1:58, tell me thats not a big wave of water shooting through the store window…

OK, "That's not a big wave of water shooting through the store!"

Now, do you feel better?

Just kidding, I think somewhere among the reams of posts buried somewhere in one of the countless threads, a water connection had been opined regarding the beasty, and if the creature has the ability to break down into H2o, there's nothing stopping it from hiding any/every/where since moisture is always available within our atmosphere, and to have the ability to re/de/construct itself by that means would be quite formidable, but how it would maintain a body that could do damage is questionable, but in sci-fi, nearly anything is possible if you say it's so.

and speaking about the wave of water, there's the oscilloscope-looking wave throughout the trailer when you stop and go.

So, if there's a wave...

Surf's up!

Just another of the myriad of "wait and see(s)."

Just to clarify - the waveform is part of Adobe Flash Player, It's the DATA LOADING icon, similar to the hourglass in Windows or the beach ball on Mac.

Cool idea, but I personally believe that the individuals in the film wouldn't have looked so terrified if their attacker was simply a big wave.
My guess is that the creature is hiding in the water tower, coming out only at night to feed.
