Help me start out please? Trying to get into ARG Hi, I only found out about ARGs last nigt, and would really like to get into this. I've read the QuickStart Guide, but I still don't quite understand it. This seems really cool, and I don't want to quit out of frustration because I don't know what to do. Are there any easy ARGs a n00b like me could play through so I can figure out how to play? Or should I just jump right into one? I'm really lost right now. Can anyone help me out?

Yeah, the idea of an ARG can be really overwhelming when you first start playing. Don't worry about it--we were all there at one point or another.
A great ARG to play if you're just starting out is Jamie Kane , a single-player ARG run by the BBC. It's pretty simple, but it has an engaging story.
You should note that Jamie Kane is a single-player, replayable ARG. In other words, whenever you sign up, it starts at the very beginning. This makes it easy to play.
After you've played Jamie Kane (it takes about two weeks), then you should have a much better idea of what an ARG is. There are a few key differences between Jamie Kane and most ARGs, but rather than confusing yourself with those differences now, you should just play Jamie Kane first.

Dave Szulborski did a little mini-ARG called Errant Memories which is a nice thing to cut your teeth on. If you get really stuck, there's a walkthrough here . Welcome, by the way!

I signed up for Jamie Kane a week ago, and haven't gotten an email yet, like the site said I would. I can't get it to work. What am I doing wrong?

Hm, that's odd; though I do remember reading about some auto-email problems they were having.
Email/message tech support, or just close your current game and sign up again.
Once you get past the first day or two, technical issues no longer are a problem. I promise, the game is worth it!

I'm new to ARG's as well, I've got an extremely stupid question. Since Jamie Kane is hosted by the BBC, do I need to be in Europe to play it? Or is it internationally playable? I apologize for the moronic question, I just wasn't sure...

Nope, Jamie Kane can be played anywhere, by anyone. However, if you're in England, you get a few fun bonuses (like phone calls).

Hi! Hi, I'm new too, and am totally hooked. It's wicked overwhelming, but everyone is really nice and helpful. It sucks being a noob though, doesn't it?

I think the best way to learn about ARGs and understand them properly is just by playing one. I started out last year with Kyle XY, not even knowing that I was playing an ARG! So when I found uF, I was a bit surprised that it all had a name... but I knew how they worked, a bit, so it was easier for me to transition here.

I signed up three days ago, and never received the starting email either. I unsubscribed/resubscribed as recommended, and then sent a technical problems email this morning after waiting another 24 hours . Still waiting for a reply.

Errant Memory Hi, another newbie here!
Have been lurking for a few days and have found this site to be a really good starting point. I would really like to have a go at ARG's but of course I don't want to jump straight into an ongoing one without knowing a little bit about how to play and how to have a go at breaking codes etc. So, after following advice on this thread I decided to try out Errant Memory as a way of getting my feet wet without looking like a complete plonker or stepping on anyones toes.
So Far I have made it to the Tunnels section without too much help from the fantastic walkthrough and now I am totally stuck. I know what the answer will be because I have read it on another thread, but I don't know how to achieve that answer myself - I cannot see that image within all those numbers and I cannot see anything in the walkthrough that tells me how to do it (unless I'm being totally blind). If someone could help me achieve this I would be really grateful as I kind of don't want to go to the next step of the game without knowing how to achieve the answer on the previous step - if that makes any sense!
Sorry if i'm sounding really dumb!

I'm in the same boat. I am a newbie and was just looking for something to cut my teeth on to get into this genre of gaming and I found that the Jamie Kane website no longer exists. Are there any more recent suggestions for a new player to look at to get our feet wet so to speak?
Thanks!
