Distortion at text level/across Alex's head right out of the gate, around 11 seconds.

One thing I don't understand--how does being tied to a tree stretch a person out? Unless they're also secured to the ground or something, I'm not picturing how it works.

Yeah, for real. Bones don't work that way.

Honestly, this comes from the sorts of people who held witch trials. They wanted to punish people, and they wouldn't let science get in their way.

They probably just tied them to the tree by their arms or hands and then secured a weight around their feet. With a decent amount of weight their joints would start getting dislocated, kinda stretching them out.

Bend two trees in. Tie the criminal's top half to one tree, their bottom half to another. Let the trees go. It's stretching like on a rack, or by horses--not physically deforming but torturing.

Also, the description is "Unalbeled". Intentional misspelling?

i was just about to mention this. it looked odd to me.

May I point out that every single video Jay has uploaded in the past just had a number relating to the entry and introduction?

That is simply incorrect.

Anyone else feel like this entry seemed a little corny? The way Alex told that story and all?

I could be misunderstanding, but from what Alex said, to me it seemed like they would tie the guy's arms to the branches and tie his feet to the ground (maybe to roots) and then the crazy fast growing tree was supposed to stretch them out like a rack as torture.

Is it? Because if it is, I apologize for my mistake and I will correct it accordingly.

Exactly. They thought, "Hey, these trees grow fast! Maybe we can use this to bring suffering! Lets tie people to them, and maybe it'll stretch them out, like a rack. And let's not feed them just to be mean. 'Kay? 'Kay."

I suppose being tied up on a tree left to starve/die of thirst wouldn't exactly be a fun way to go, but its dar from stretching someone out, unless you tied limbs to different branches and expected the growth to stretch them (except, wait, how would you get it to not be attached just to that specific point? Unless you figured out how to somehow get them onto the meristems, which would probably block the growth if you attached it in such a fashion...meh, witch hunters is easier just to go with starvation)

Weights are not necessary; the weight of their own body would stretch them out if they were hanging by their hands. People who were crucified died of suffocation because their body weight stretched them so thin that they couldn't inhale.

Imagine you give a baby a tattoo. How is that tattoo going to look after the baby is an adult? Stretched out. Does't have to be tethered to anything. The idea is that the entire tree grows.

Which I don't think is true. I'm a bit confused about that. Were the villagers that...stupid, or did the trees grow so fast that they would actually kill someone that way?

The funny thing is, I was just about to praise Marble Hornets in the TT vs MH thread for using an understated 'show, don't tell' method of storytelling, and for how they use tone and setting as a substitute for specific detail. I don't need to know that his real name is Kid D. Diddler and that he's from the Pedostar system and that he's a Lt. Colonel in the Hebephile Spacemarine Corps.

Except that now they basically did just that Sad. He's the ghost of a murderer, or a child rapist, or perhaps a murdering child rapist that got tied to a magic tree :/

They didn't grow that fast, Alex said that most of them died of thirst or starvation. The people hoped for a cool death by tree-rack, but settled for starvation.
