Or the thing that preyed on people left out to die. Or a folkloric attempt to explain away uncomfortable events, the way Hansel & Gretel supposedly came from infanticide during the Great Famine, and child-eating witch Baba Yaga's house from food storage sheds that stood on stilts in hopes winter predators wouldn't raid them.

(In case it's not obvious, I'm hoping against an obvious Freddy reveal...)

I agree with this. Slendy didn't have to be human he could have been in that area preying on the people in the trees then one day a child enters his part of the woods. Slendy does what he does to children and the villagers decide to stop hanging people up so that slenderman will move on. Alex might have spent the past couple year just tracking Slendy's trail through history and was just showing Jay that he had been in this area before.

Can we go with this? I like this. Alex wandered into the territory where Seņior Operator enjoyed preying on things and this kinda pissed him off.

REVELATION! THIS ACTUALLY WORKS OUT WITH THE "DEAD ANIMALS" ON ALEX'S LAWN DAAAAAYUM. While Seņior Operator was stalkin' Alex, he obviously needed to feed on something so he nommed on the local pets and left them on Alex's lawn.

Definitely agreed, we jumped to conclusions way to fast. That God they're sacrificing to might just be the nonhuman entity we've been dying to see.

Lol thanks for including the dead animals into my theory i had forgotten about them!

What's happening is some creepy **** is going on. Some creepy **** going on is what's happening.

Yeah, it's coming back to me now. The story of MH isn't about being stuck in a SPOKY HAUNTED HAUS, it's about being stalked by a 12-foot-tall approximation of a human being without a face.

There's no way the operator is just a ghost. Last time I checked, ghosts don't cause coughing fits, headaches, memory loss, severe digital distortion, and teleporting doors.

It's more likely that he lived in this forest in the 1800s, and the villagers mistook him for "god".

People! He never said that the trees ACTUALLY stretched them out! Just that that was the IDEA. People in those times were kinda ignorant, particularly the common folk, who would have been the ones doing this. They don't know that you would have to tie them to the meristem or what have you, they just thought it would be a freaky way to kill people!

Case closed.

It's a matter of presentation. The door warping was introduced as being weird and mysterious. The tree stretching thing was causally mentioned by Alex like it made total sense.

If door warping had been introduced by Alex saying "And so I moved to a new state by passing through my closet door. You know, the usual way," people would also be raising some eyebrows.

I wonder what he looked like back then?
Has he always kept up to fashion standards, or is that a new thing?
Or did he just wake up eons ago and say "I just would look fabulous in this suit!"?

Slendy was the original hipster! He wore suits before they even existed then someone saw him in his suit and copied it and made it mainstream. This continues to anger Slenderman which is why his does what he does to humanity!

Fun fact- August 30th is an international holiday- International Day of the Disappeared.
Shocked

I'm willing to bet somebody saw Slenderman and subsequently decided to invent the dress suit

and according to the Entry 37 thread,

"Day after the boy near the Twelfth street depot on North Main street went lost, as written in an article in the August 30, 1891 Wichita Daily Eagle."

I'm about to log off so trout me if it's been said.

Remember those theories? Slender Man tries to approximate a human appearance by ocbserving one and then Chameleon-changing until he looked like one. But what if the ones he modeled himself after were stretched-out, horribly disfigured and elongated people with their faces burned off. And only those funeral suits to go by....

huh.. that does make some sense with the original mythos as well. I believe there was something about everyone seeing SlenderMan with a different face, if they saw one at all.. so perhaps he could shapeshift in the original mythos and in MH as well?

Ooh, I like this (maybe not enough to fully endorse it but...). What if the interpretations where he has the tentacles were modeled after the branches of the trees they were stuck to? He sees a black-suited, disfigured, faceless, shape with long black appendages sticking out of its back and follows suit...

Follows suit... Laughing
