AI man

I don't really know where to put this so I made a new topic. AI man says that the monitors were trying to retrieve "him" but were outwitted.

In his thanks to beth he says,
"I allowed myself to be moved to the site of the error, interrupting my diagnostics.

When I arrived the Monitors moved to capture me, but their knowledge of my systems was of necessity limited. It may have appeared, to them, as if their deadlock command had succeeded; in fact they had unwittingly restored a vital portion of my corrupted memory, and fixed my communications subsystems.

In their hesitation I was able to free a section of their core memory. The Monitor threads immediately crashed in a manner entirely consistent with a critical systems breach event, as predicted. I was then able to quarantine and terminate the virus program and rescue Miss Kinross."

Is it possible that the virus program terminated was the drowned man at the Aquapolis? His overall says something like fade which is a type of virus I think.

Also I saw this quote today
"I think what we're growing towards is . . . an artificial intelligence of some sort [that] will emerge out of the human technological coral reef and be as different from us as we are from termites. . . . The internet is the natural place for the AI, the artificial intelligence to be born and . . . it learns 50,000 times faster than a human being, and the internet, all parts of it, are interconnected to each other . . . a stealth strategy would probably be a very wise strategy for an artificial intelligence that's studying its human parents." quoted from Shaman writer Terence Mckenna on this site http://www.divinevirus.com/matrix.html

This site has some very interesting stuff on it try and read end notes about the demiurge. Anyway not sure if any of this is relevant but its all very interesting to think about Shocked

I'm not aware of the various viruses out there, but the way I read AI man's e-mail was that the virus that was terminated was the 'whomp' that almost killed Miss Kinross/Texel.
Plus, I know computer programmers and hackers are good, but I doubt they've developed a virus yet that can kill someone. (leave that to nature and the government biolabs) Evil or Very Mad

I like the theory that the drowning guy was a program because...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it sort of reminds me of Matrix Revolutions when Neo is talking to that guy (I think his name is Rama Kandra) at Mobil Ave. who tells him they are programs and what he and his wife do, their job, their purpose.

But a virus program? Dunno about that.

First, here is this from Strange Man's e-mail to Beth:

Code:
Using an unstable virus program they created a glitch themselves. Perhaps this virus program moved more rapidly than the Monitors expected, or perhaps their programming prevented them from interrupting its execution. For whatever reason, Miss Kinross was caught at the edge of the glitch.

So, we know that the glitch where Texel was caught was the result of the virus itself. That incident occured on November 8, whereas the drowning man incident happened on October 21.

Thus, the drawning man was dead long before the virus glitch in which Texel was involved.

Ah yes sorry I got carried away I don't know why I thought that those things had happened on oct 31st "my perception of time is so far removed from yours that the term means little to me" Wink

So this is a bit of wild thought is it possible that the Hackers r monitors (maybe not knowingly) sent to retrieve the AI they cause the glitch, the presence of of Miss Kinross(maybe taken over by monitors) drew the AI there. The monitor threads crashed Miss Kinross was rescued. The Monitors will be rebooted.

Arrggghhh I know I'm going crazy I am finding it hard to keep up with all the information and I keep wandering off in different directions and trying to get back to where I was but its all confused. I couldn't find any mention of Miss Kinross before this incident, have I missed something?

Don't worry about it HaZy, I'm in the same boat right now the moment, as I'm sure is everyone else (particularly with this recent communication from Beth!)
From what I can gather, the first time we heard the name 'Miss Kinross' was from AI Man's e-mail to Beth; but Texel - one of the hackers - has been around since the beginning; we made the connection between the two (that they are the same girl) based on the description of their injuries/what happened to them at the whomp.
I find your theory about the hackers being the Monitors very interesting; although I somehow doubt that if AI Man suspected that the hackers were the Monitors that he would have saved Texel from the whomp.

Well I was thinking that he didn't save Texel he rescued Miss Kinross after he terminated the virus program following the monitors crashing. Texel if he was a monitor would have been rebooted. AI says of the monitors that they are for the moment inactive. When did Texel come back? I think he was out of contact for a few days is that right?
