Is Alan a bad guy???
I just want some thoughts

Ok so I have a theory but I want other peoples opinions. So I have a sneaking suspicion that Alan is actually a bad guy...has anyone else thought of this. I mean, since Alan was ISOlatedthinker (so he had to know something about the ISO's in the system) and was working with Zakattack, then that means they ordered the digital pulse to be sent out which apparently sent out the page...but what if there really was no page and Alan just wanted to send Sam into the system because he wanted Sam's shares in the company. Just wondering if anyone else has any opinions on this matter or thought the same way.

This discussion assumes that Alan knew about what happened to Flynn the ENTIRE time, knew about his secret office in the arcade, knew that Flynn was trapped in there, etc.

This then leads to the following questions (among others):
- Why wait all those years to send Sam into the system?
- How did he know that Flynn was trapped in there?
- How did he know that CLU would turn on Flynn?
- Why didn't he follow Sam to the arcade and disconnect the power from the servers once he was in?

I think all this is extremely unlikely. He could have faked a page to the arcade years earlier. In terms of ISOlatedThinker, I think he was the only person at ENCOM (i.e. he was 'isolated') who thought that Flynn was alive...i.e. he was an isolated thinker. I do not think he knew about the ISOs.

My $.02.

Who's to say Alan didn't know all this. He did create the Tron program, so wouldn't he be able to access that program anytime and figure out what it's doing? If Alan was saying he was the isolated person thinking that Flynn was still alive then why only capitalize the ISO part?

While I'm on board for any plot that's outside normal storytelling, there would have to be a pretty massive Rube Goldberg-que plot going on in the background for that to fit in directly with the story of Legacy.

If Alan was simply out for the controlling interest in Encom he could have gotten them by far easier means. He could have had Sam sign over his stock votes to him, he could have had Sam killed as he and Lora would probably be the beneficiaries of any Will Sam had, taken advantage of Sam's daredevil nature and caused an "accident".

However, I do think that Alan knows a lot more about what Flynn was up to in the 80s than he lets on. Or more likely he has no idea how much he knows, thinking all the things Flynn might have shared with him were merely visionary thoughts or hypothetical situations.

It's not that he couldn't be a bad guy, it just seems like to long a wait for to little involvement.

And, to "metagame" it a bit here, I doubt that Bruce would be on board with Alan being a bad guy. Especially after Tron was a 'bad guy' already, but turned back to the light side. Smile

No he wouldn't be able to access the TRON program because it was moved to Flynn's private server

Am I the only one who that thinks that Flynn could very well have told Alan his discovery was called the isos but nothing more?

I got the feeling that he only told Sam about it in the form of bedtime stories. Especially when Alan says to Sam "So?" That number has been disconnected for twenty years! Two nights before he disappeared, he came to my house. He said he was about to change everything - science, medicine, religion. He wouldn't have left that, Sam. He wouldn't have left you.
