UPDATE: new post on paintover.net - new site and contact so... ahem. this is my first post (lurked here for a while) so bear with me. Hope this is the right forum to post this in.
someone with the handle awake posted this on paintover.com:

I'm awake...
ask me & i will tell you what i know

I clicked on awake to see if it might be an in game post; the email address it links to is
awakeSPLAT lightspirit.com
So I had a look at
www.lightspirit.com
and it looks suspiciously like some in game sites I've seen before. There's a pic there - maybe it's stegged. I'm not great with the crypto stuff - Takers?
I also replied to the post. I sent an empty email with "What do you know?" in the subject line. awake replied immediately with an email that said
truth
that's all I got.

I'd tend to take anything from the comments on paintover with a liberal pinch of salt.
Also, there's no _ logo on lightspirit.com, so I'd tend to think that's out of game... curious that you got a quick reply though.
The source is singularly uninformative, and there's bubkis on the site... at this stage (and I've been wrong before, so don't let this dissuade you) I'd say that's a herring.

hmm ok
did a lookup on whois and the domain was registered in 2001 - too early for the game so its probably nothing. Dang pranksters..
Off topic fun fact: I looked up lightspririt on google, and found this woman doing dolphin retreats in Hawaii under that name lol

Looked briefly at the source code, didn't see anything special. If you want to analyse this more I found these:
http://www.lightspirit.com/servlet/DeRedirect
http://www.lightspirit.com/204000m.jpg
http://www.lightspirit.com/TextureBackground.gif
noticed that
http://www.lightspirit.com/
is titled "www.lightspirit.com" where as
http://www.lightspirit.com/servlet/DeRedirect
(which is the same) is titled "Home"

Um, aware, you might want to edit your subject and change "UPDATE" to "SPEC". Because it really is just spec. And I doubt those are ingame websites. Unless it has the on the page somewhere chances are it's not ingame.
Please refer to Underscore Hosting another ingame website. At the bottom it says:

UPDATE: We have been experiencing extremely high traffic over the last several days and we believe this to be due in part to malicious and unapproved branding of non-affiliate sites with the Underscore Hosting logo. This unauthorized use of our trademark symbol causes unnecessary traffic, blocks our legitimate affiliates' access to their accounts and in some cases has caused affiliate payments to be misapplied.
Effective immediately, and continuing until such time as we are accepting new members, we are issuing site-specific USH Affiliate Plan logos to our member sites.
You can identify an authentic Underscore Hosting Affiliate logo by checking the Properties of the logo image (usually by right-clicking on it). The "Address (URL)" of the image will be located on our servers and include that site's domain name.
For example, if John Smith is an approved affiliate, the properties link would look something like this:
http://www.underscorehosting.com/affiliates/logos/johnsmith.com/ush.jpg
If you have an active USH affiliate account with us, you should have already received your new image link via e-mail. Please apply this new code as soon as possible.
Thank you
Underscore Hosting
I won't jump all over you for doing this. Simply because I feel for you. When this game first started I made just a little itty bitty remark that maybe the might be a clue, and people tore that theory apart as if I had just said girls can pee standing up.

They can't?
I mean, it might be a little messy, but you can do it, right?
(ok, sorry, no more sarcasm )

Yes, we can. And I'm not going to get graphic on how it can be done without it being messy. Use your imagination.
EDIT: Jesus, I didn't even know there was a website, Diandra.

If this doesn't leak, erh, lead us to the next in-game clue, I don't know what will

Game over: This all leads to Beth's discovery, with the help of AI man, that she can pee standing up.

Does this mean we now know who was behind the tree at the Cascade Vortex?

Yeah, but where's the fun in that if you can't write your name in the snow?
I think when Zoroaster or whoever was divvying stuff up, he said, "OK, the women will be smarter, wiser, and better looking than men, plus they'll be in charge of that whole childbirth thing. But we'll give the men the ability to sign their name in yellow snow from 5 feet away, that oughta keep them too entertained to notice."
"But Zo'Money, you really think that's all it will take?"
"Yeah, after the 50th time they've crushed a beer can on their forehead, they'll be all out of the really important neurons. Plus...get this, I swear I'm a genius - when they get really horny, all their blood rushes from their brains to their loins!"
"Ha! That's great! Quien es mas macho?"
"ZoBaby es mas macho!"
