The following shows up here when I do a direct copy from the document to here but does not show up in the original
LHNVRNVXDT TCKARVZZDFSPD AQMVSZCWWCGH
This could be an artifact from the copy or it might be hidden code, I don't know. Seeing that gave me a bit of a chill, lol.

It's in the file. She typed it in white text or something you can find it in open office by highlighting it and selecting "default formatting". Doesn't appear to be base 64 or rot13.

OK... I don't have Open Office. I use MS Word Starter because I am cheap that way, lol. I am glad though that at least it IS supposed to be in there. Now to figure out what coding was used. To the BAT computer, Boy Wonder.

Well, Open Office is free opensource software so . . .

May just have to do that.

On topic, if this IS hidden code I don't even know where to begin. It MIGHT also be a cipher (sorta looks like it because of the long strings of letters) but we would need some type of keypad or base to work from. I am REALLY coming up short on ideas concerning the code in the document.

On a side note, and OOG

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Amy has used QR code before, which was noted by most as PROBABLY the first time QR had been used in a Slenderseries. Amy seems to be one smart cookie so I will definitely being giving many + internets to both her and the person who can figure this out.

All I have for looking at this is Text Edit, which strips out any clever formatting. Running on the suspicion that this is a cypher, is there any word in the doc that's emphasized in some way? I could try it as a key

There's no way those could translate into QR code and then back into anything other than the same letter string is there?

Try Dahlia. Or Amy. Pretty much the two most important people in TJ's life.

If that is a cryptogram, it's going to be a major pain to solve. Most cryptogram solutions start with identifying words like "the", "is", stuff like that. This has none of that.

All my (limited) skill can provide at this point is that NV appears twice in the first word, and another interesting combination in the third word is CWWC. I don't know which word of that length would have an ABBA combination like that.

Aaand that's all I got lol.

I've already tried a bunch of random stuff from the letter: dahlia, amy, xakk, knife, nightmare, dream, dreamlog, indiana, and slenderman...aaaand just now "stab" ;D

I'm just messing with a vigenere cipher applet though. It doesn't have to be that. It could be anything, really.
(except a shift cipher. that can be ruled out quickly by just running it through every iteration from +13 to -13)

I ran it through a shift cypher, just got gibberish on everything.

Right. That's why I said it can't be that.

What codes/encryption methods have we ruled out?

These are the ones I can think of:

shift cipher
vingere (sp?) cipher

autokey cipher
potential cryptogram
base 64
rot13
Qr code (is this possible?)

substitution
DES
AES

edit: so I crossed out the ones you guys have tried. Has anyone tried the others yet?

We're operating I think on the assumption that TJ intentionally put the code in there. What if it was somehow placed there by another, would it effect how we try to break it if we assume it came from Xakk, the Plague Doctor, Sight, or the tall skinny bastard himself?

Thank's for catching that as well Lanz. I got a bit freaked when I did the copy of the document and they suddenly showed up (laugh's nervously). Made me wonder about my own sanity for a brief moment then wonder if my comp was screwing up. I am so glad someone else caught it.

Hah, same thing happened to me when I posted it on Penny Arcade

Hi there; long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

It didn't occur to me till I read this post that each group of letters might represent a word. I had assumed that the letters were chopped into equal sections, like the WW2 Enigma ciphers which were put into 5-letter groups (eg "DTTZD TQYZT KLEIG").

But these 'words' are 10, then 13, then 12 letters long. Can we think of any phrases that might look like that? Might be worth trying one of those crossword solvers to see if we can find a list of words that are 13 letters long.

One ten-letter word does leap to mind: 'slenderman'...
