Im trying to talk to her.

Now, has anyone in this thread heard of self-defense...

You don't generally film self defense, crack jokes about it, and upload it to youtube to "entertain" people. As a matter of fact they were all inside, behind a closed door that the dog couldn't get through. That's when you call animal control or the local police.

So does this one:

I just don't understand how the idea that the people who make this fictional vlog would kill a dog (that you don't see) for real came about. I don't know them personally. Are they those kinds of people in real life? Who does that kind of thing? Is there any reason to believe that they would?

And because it's a fictional vlog, I'm going to assume the shooting of a dog never shown is make-believe. It's a shame that they didn't do something like post a title card at the beginning that said there was going to be something disturbing and animal-related in the video.

In case you're wondering, I was extremely disgusted by everything the make-believe characters did in the make-believe vlog. I'm not here to defend that. I'm here arguing--which, on the Internet, is pretty much a waste of everybody's time, because nobody's mind is going to change, regardless of what either of us says--is because I'm appalled that people would automatically assume this of them.

What the hell? Am I missing something?

Would they decided to kill a dog for their vlog? I highly doubt it. If this situation came up in their real lifewould they film it and include it? I don't know. They've done such a good job of blending their real life with their series that unless what's happening is overtly supernatural I can't tell (hell the only reason I assume real life Amy isn't on the anti-psychotics it seems series Amy is supposed to be taking is the fact that real life Amy is supposed to be going into the army along with TJ. I'm pretty sure the army wouldn't take someone who gets as crazy as series Amy if she doesn't take her meds). Which is great, until the series includes something that could so alienate portions of their fan base.

It's not about if this was real or not, it's how they were treating the whole situation. I lived in the south for a good period of time, I realize that there are places were animal control is unavailable and in a situation like this, most people would just take their gun out and take care of it themselves. I don't think they were wrong for that. However, filming it, wither it was pointed at the dog or not, and wither it was even real or just faked, was in very poor judgment, and then on top of that, they were laughing about it as well?

If they were trying to show that Slenderman can effect animals, they could have done it in a tasteful way, not to mention, even had a different situation in which that was better understood.

People are freaking out because of OOG stuff. They actually did run into a rabid dog OOG and someone did actually get bit. Of course, that's not to say they really shot the dog. But for some it's all too real and are wondering where fiction stops and reality begins.

Time to stop lurking -- made an account because of this.

Something seems off. And by "off", I'm not referring to this whole dog-shooting episode being on youtube. Something seems off. Why would they put this up? Throughout the video, the girls seem to be acting...well, "off". I don't know how to put it. This doesn't feel like a TJAProjects video. As weird as this may sound, it reminds me more of the "Behind the Scenes" video they did recently. The opening text makes it clear this wasn't an accident, but I just can't place it... This video is too out-of-place for this series.

It's as if they're trying to look bad -- they took Kick the Dog Up To Eleven. Honestly, I want to say this is proxie/Sight/Plague Doctor/Slendy fuckery. This is probably just me wanting to believe there's hope for this series.

In the likelihood of this video being deleted, I'm downloading it for archive purposes.

Yep and I'm done arguing.

FWIW I never said it's the best taste. I don't think it's something to get all worked up about. I grew up in the middle of nowhere in a spot that looks similar to where this was filmed.

I've put down or witnessed dogs, cats and all kinds of animals like this more times than I can remember. I've seen it enough I'm sure I've joked around during it at some time. Did I ever film it and put it on you tube. Nope I'm a little old for that, but it's not that big a deal. The dog was likely suffering and it needed to be put down. Letting it run around the streets waiting for a vet or animal control (which I seriously doubt exists there) just lets it suffer longer and risks it running into and harming someone.

People praise this series for being more real and showing more or an inside glimpse into their real life. Well that's real life.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and by the way it was real

The oddest part to me is that it had nothing to do with anything in the series really and I'm guessing they'll take it down.

I'm done with the subject. Feel free to go back to discussing the series. I'll go back to lurking.

I can't speak for everyone arguing my side but my point at least is that

A: If a real dog were killed and they filmed it then they shouldn't have filmed it, they shouldn't have been cracking jokes during the filming of it, and they shouldn't have posted it on youtube.

B: If this was faked for the series then they should have been more obvious about it being faked, and still shouldn't have been cracking jokes. Basically it could have been done in a more tasteful manner and not left us wondering if they'd shot a real dog.

People can bring up the screen at the beginning all they want but it's not like people can just skip this video and expect to know what's going on in the next one.

That's helpful to know. I don't follow OOG stuff, and some of the confusion makes sense. I don't understand the assumption that the filmmakers would actually get off on filming this stuff--and that's the really messed up part here: that they actually seem to be getting off on it--but at least I understand the why the discomfort level is so elevated.

That's pretty much where my mind is going. Lord-of-the-Flies Amy is Insanely Sane and they're both sitting around and joking about Quarantine, and I'm trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

My stomach has been churned, which I think is the idea (given that stomach-churning is something TJA does well)

I hear you on that. Something just beyond description seems wrong here. Maybe we're so used to seeing TJ sad, and her being somewhat happy is setting off alarms. The whole thing just seemed weird, including TJ's casual attitude about getting bitten by a potentially rabid animal. You'd think a nurse would know the danger there. Unless she's already contracted rabies, in which case she's screwed if she doesn't get treatment soon.

By the way, welcome to Unfiction!

What?

Because when it's not make-believe, it's messed up, and I honestly didn't think they would do that. I don't even know what kind of person would do that. This is what I get for giving people the benefit of the doubt. I am kind of sick to my stomach.

OOG: I can understand putting the dog down if it had rabies, or out of self-defense, I can understand that where they are, culturally, whatever, it's in the norm to deal with it like that. I still think it's really bad taste to put a video of it up on Youtube (even with a warning, even if it doesn't directly show it), and to use the recording of the event in their fictional Youtube series. That's taking the realism to a really appalling level.

IG: I'm with LegoAlchemist; the tone of this entry if fucking bizarre. If it stays in canon I think it's definitely going to be a game-changer, and maybe not in a good way.
