So, let's continue OOG discussion. Has anybody gotten their Marble Hornets DVD yet? I ordered mine last week, so I'm hoping it's here by friday or so.

I keep obsessively checking my mail. So much so that not being able to find my keys has sent me into a state of panic. Absolute panic.

EMH: "Final bit should be done tomorrow night".

Very Happy

"this is all pending on the next bit of… oh, you'll see. "

o.O

Does this mean that the next video should be up tonight/tomorrow?

I think we're looking at an interaction we may need to unlock something, be it video or otherwise. This has been hinted at before.

Presumably it was not last night's intimate basement chat with Evan in #habitsangora.

Oh, I was cracking a joke. Um, Evan paid the Angora Chat-related tinychat channel a visit last night. He spent most of it playing SoulCaliber online but spoke to a couple of us briefly, those who were left late into the night. We swapped gross-out gore clips, had some nice small talk and that was about it. He seemed surprised to have stumbled into a fan chat and wondered if we were creators, but he might have been trollin. It was OOG. Just a Random Encounter, he was cool and quite nice. And Evan-ish.

Ah, okay. That's pretty cool.

Well, in pretty big news, it sounds like the guy who wrote Dreams in Darkness (you know, one of the biggest Slenderblogs out there) might have his blog adapted into a novel.

I'm fanboying so hard now Embarassed .

I heard that Slender is gonna be on some cable TV show coming up, and my mom who religiously watches IFC says she saw a commercial for something involving a tall guy in a suit stalking college kids on a webcam, so I've been trying to keep the TV on at all times in case I catch it. Any word going around about this?

If Slenderman becomes a money making cash cow will Victor Surge get a cut in the profits?

Well, Slenderman's not copyrighted to anyone or trademarked, and, if any legal classification could be assigned, is a public domain folk character, so anyone can use him and owe nobody a dime but the actor. That said, I'm sure Victor could get consulting or draft work on any Slenderman-based scripts (being that he not only made the first pictures, he also made the first text entries and set the tone for the entire concept so elegantly), and from that he could make money off the mythos, though I've heard he doesn't care to.

I use too many commas.

No you don't. You make me, Ayn Rand, and Chuck Palahniuk proud.

Victor Surge mentioned that in his interview with the Slender Nation site (He even said he was in contact with the producer of this show.). He also writing a script with some guy who works for a Hollywood production, but its only in the first draft (he says movie scripts go through tens of drafts before being made.)

I've said it before, but I do often think the big 3 (and others) need to protect whatever they can of their material. Not SLONDORMONS, who as noted is PD, but I've had visions for months of someone getting royally fucked as some big media giant puts out a slightly tweaked take on one of the existing series.

If I were one of them (...) I would almost want that to happen. Think about it: some Hollywood upstart takes the idea, then the media completely tears them apart. More attention to the former.

Perhaps. Or the property or subgenre remains forever tainted and sinks into obscurity.

Look at what became of Asian horror after numerous Japanese and Korean genre franchises, films, and directors were imported here and churned out through a series of remakes and bad sequels (they weren't all bad, just mostly). That genre is now a joke in the West and sadly, as a result many genre pictures from all over Asia cannot get Western distribution because the perception in our market is that that stuff is old, tired and a failure and that no one here wants to watch it. Worse, other non-genre pictures also can't get distributed because of the perception that the entire range is made up of nothing but swordplay and horror.

Roundabout point but what I'm trying to say is my concern is that the audience would not necessarily go looking for the source after a major media giant presents a failed mainstream take on the same material. There's nothing to really be done about it, though, at this point. Que sera sera.
