Slendy goes Mainstream? Minneapolis Star Tribune Article

So fairly major metropolitan newspapers are interviewing teenagers about Slender Man now?

http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/120717934.html

Read the comments... the locals are a bit pissed that this ended up on the front page apparently.

I wouldn't call them pranksters, lol. I wonder if there will ever come a day where journalists understand some of the stuff they write about.

And yeah, none of the commenters sound that happy about it being front-page, which is understandable. Was it a slow news day or something?[/quote]

A group of pranksters? Calling themselves Marble Hornets?

So much fail.

Kinda cool to see though, other than that.

Interesting article. The way it was written made it sound more like a joke it's a trap then an article on the phenomenon and its effect on people, but people have different opinions on these sort of things.

I think this article raises a good question though. What if slenderman becomes main stream and gains the status of freddy krugar. What reaction would everyone here have if there was a movie and the mythos were turned to shit because of it?
I feel like if he becomes too out there he would just be a joke( but it would be bad ass to see him in a tree house of horror).

I actually think it was relatively accurate, considering how often facts are completely botched. Sure, some of their facts are off (Troy and Joseph call themselves "Marble Hornets?" They're pranksters? Masky is a demon?), but a lot of it is pretty accurate. They summarized why exactly he's so popular, and more importantly, why exactly he's so scary.

A movie could be made if you had people who knew their stuff dictating, (troy etc)

If hollywood got hold of it I would cry.

Then hang myself consequently.

Barging in to let you guys know that the chasechan05 comment was me. (always safe to assume that chasechan{numbers} is me), but from what someone said (I'm unsure if you wanna be know XD; ), the writer didn't have much room for the niche article :/

I was the one who called her that Chase mentioned. She was very interested in the fact that we've all sorta found each other and created these enormous communities about Slenderman. She found out from a friend whose son called late at night while driving through a rural area and called him, saying "Dad, I'm scared of Slenderman out here." From there it snowballed.

The Slender Man having ears is now canon.

Why is this news? The fictitious Slender Man? WTH? What our youth should be scared of is the deteriorating world they're about to grow up in and have to be responsible for down the road.

Oh, neat. So now we can make a Slenderman Wikipedia page, right? Since it's been mentioned in an actual published source? Although we may have to keep the inaccurate "facts" of the article, because anything unsourced is invalid on Wikipedia.

The speedy deletion marker has been removed and the page is beginning to be fleshed out. This is excellent news.

You know what they say. All news stories are totally true except for that one story you just happen to have personal knowledge about.
