Keeping the creature from escape ice? Just something that came to me in my sleep deprived state, probably nothing but wanted to share my thoughts...brainstorming is never a bad thing here.
Gez over at Super8News said they heard something about ice over the loudspeakers during the Portal 2 side-game. We have a lot of information that could lead us to the creature/alien living in a water-based environment. What if it's captured with ice, more specifically, suspended animation? If this were true, Rocket Poppeteers (ice) would be a rather funny hint at it.

If you go to that second YouTube video walk through without the talking, you can hear the sound effects -- radio, golden ratio tones, background noises, etc.
The creature apparently likes bbq - cows, pigs, and what's a good bbq without cans of beans(scattered on the ground during the walkthrough)?

Thought this since seeing the first trailer and all but confirmed by reading about the 'incident' at the rocketpoppeteers factory that meant it was shut down. Figured it was being held in one of their big freezers, and that's why you see ice on the lens in the flashes at the end of trailers.

Keeping it on ice Speaking of ice pops and frozen power sources...err creatures..
The train car in the interactive trailer did appear to have a condenser on the car, you see it going off right before the cut scene.
RP.. freezer ice pops.....
Also if you want to get into this whole fusion energy concept..
"The injection of pellets of frozen deuterium into magnetically confined, hot plasmas is one of the most attractive methods for refueling fusion power reactors"
So .. is our creature the power source? Does it need to be cooled to be controlled or so it does not POP..heh...
Any how im off to peel the foil from my chocolate bunny's and add it to my ...err... well you know what im gonna do with it
Jane

Just thought of something. If our creature is in fact, an alien, it could be due to temperatures in space (I know radiation on planets and what not seriously changes things, but it's a movie). Other than the variances, the temperature in space is something like -455 F. I'm not saying the train car could reach such temperatures, but cooling things down could keep the creature comfortable/alive(?)

Off Topic--Re: Aluminum Jane An Ode to Aluminum Jane
Jane, Jane, Alcoa's heir,
Used the foil to cover her hair.
All was fine, though people would stare
At the girl reflecting the chromium glare.
And although she'd been warned,
And once nearly maced,
She wouldn't be foiled,
Nor put in her place.
For when push came to shove
She demanded to face,
Partaking the metal
With the none of a kind taste.

Thanks;
I suppose making your day is better than making your bed, but perhaps I'm merely making believe!?!
