Slendy from MH: Scary.
Slendy from TT: Less Scary.
Slendy from EMH: Misterious, not so threatning. Absent, most of the time.

Other series: Overused. That is disgracing it.

I'm not going to say I'm not scare by the myth. As I posted earlier Slendy terrifies me in ways other things have not been able to do.

When I'm in my house (I live alone) and it's night I am constantly glancing at the windows dreading what may be lurking in them. I think that anything that has the effect on you has frightened you whether you realize it or not.

I do however think Slendy should take a much more direct approach to taking down his victims, actively chasing them. The whole slendy moves slowly thing I've never understood as it lessens the experience if you believe that he wouldn't be able to catch you if he started stalking you.

Yes, it has gone. I'm still trying to think of a way to bring it back.

Varies from story to story.

Marble Hornets stopped being scary with the start of season 2 due to the pacing problems(too much don't know what's going on for too long).

Tribe Twelve didn't get scary until the A Scanner Darkly vids came into play, then lost it a bit with the latest entry(Slendy not convincing enough).

MLAndersen is probably the scariest for me, just because of the focus on the emotional strain the creature puts on the characters. People abandon their family, get locked up in institutions for most of their life and pretend so hard that nothing's going on that it looks like they're the delusional one.

I'm going to have to disagree with the Tribe Twelve point, there costume might not be convincing but the use of tentacles gives a freaky factor of "shit, this thing is even more unbeatable than I thought"

A lot of people have already said it, but its turned more into a morbid fascination than anything. Sure, Marble Hornets scared the living hell out of me the first time I watched it, but even then it wasn't so much as the Operator as it was Masky that freaked me out. I guess it's the mystery surrounding Slender Man that makes me so interested and continuing to watch vlogs and read blogs. I enjoy the storyline and what people can do with the mythos without completely recycling what other series have done.

There are moments where he still induced terror in me but those are the moments it's dark out and I'm out walking around and hear something behind me when somewhere is completely deserted or there is no one close behind me. He started out pants-pissing terror inducing then slowly over time became more of a sick fascination for myself.

However I think those of us heavily in the mythos and games will never find it as scary as we did in the beginning. My friends who don't play or look into it and just watch something or read some pieces of the mythos are still terrified of him. I think it all depends on your exposure and how much you've spent deluding yourself into he's something that can be studied because of everything we read and watch.

Okay look, humans want explanations for things. Do you think ancient people came up with creation myths just because they got high on some ancient magic mushrooms? Well, maybe that's it a little bit, but if you look at something like THUNDER, and you have no idea what the FRICK it is doing there, that is pretty terrifying. However, if you have an explanation, even if its totally erroneous (myth), you feel better because as a human that means you can fit this thing inside your head, what was once an impossibly huge concept has become manageable and all through a story.

Slenderman is no different. When there's no explanation for him and he's just THERE, he is terrifying. We don't understand, we can't fit him somewhere in our heads, and that scares the living daylights out of most of us, as humans. However, where creators of Slendystuff should be trying to keep up this anonymity and fear (and there are a variety of ways to do this and still keep it interesting) most, since they are human as well, simply begin to explain or define him. And that weakens him.

And THIS is why I do not read any of the blogs anymore, they were ruining it for me with their Proxy nonsense.

I have never really been too afraid of Slendy. Maybe a bit when I first watched MH. I think if you want to be really scared by this whole mythos and you're reading this, it's too late. The less you know, the better for fear, and uF is the epitome of SlenderTMI. (Yes, I just put a made-up suffix on a chatspeak acronym. But you know what it means, so however you're judging me applies to you as well.)

As many people have said, nothing can compare to the terror of when you first started watching Marble Hornets. I'm guessing that most people have become desensitized to it over time, though there are other factors that could contribute to that. *coughcough$20coughcough*

In the beginning, of course I was completely terrified by it. I was just told the original story of him, and shown a couple pictures, at say around three in the morning on a summer's night, then left to deal with the creeping fear of imagining him outside my window.
Every time I passed by a window, I would swear that out of the corner of my eye that I saw something with a pale head and dark body at the last second. Thought that the noises I heard were being caused by something, something I could never catch at the final moment when I dared to go and see what it was.

After watching the entries, the vlogs, reading some of the blogs, the scariness seemed to be sucked out of him. I was able to fill the daunting questions I had with answers- thus rendering him no longer spooky as I knew what he was.
Though the vlogs continue to put me on edge at times, it is simply because of the fear of the unknown.

TL;DR: Not scared of him anymore.

I was never really that much scared of him. I'm mainly following certain video series because of the atmosphere and the feeling of mystery about it. In others words, I'm curious about how it will end. It also makes you wonder what is the motive of Slender Man (And his minions?).

All the parodies about that phenomena makes it less scary overall.

As the great Oscar Wilde once said:

"The moment you think you understand a great work of art, it's dead for you."

As Nimbus said, he's found not so scary anymore because we claim to understand him. We can still van Him scary, we just need to move away from the last generation of blogs, even though I greatly respect people who have the balls to write on a trol-infested internet. They're just a buzz-kill. But it's not too late! I still see things popping up on the internet on a weekly basis that still give me the chills. It's because I don't understand them. We can make that jump as a community, move away from the idea that we can "understand" a diety older than God. We could go to the streets and put stencils of him up whilst wearing white masks (no, I have not consumed any hallucenogetics), we can write gruesome things once more about people and animals being strung up with their guts cut out instead of that "boohoo my dog died" stuff. All it needs is a good push haha

Personally, I think some of the fear has left the Mythos, but I don't particularly mind so much. It's got a lot of potential in other capacities, if nothing else, and the parts that are still terrifying after this long deserve to be remembered as some of the most pants-browningly-horrifying parts of any series on the face of the Earth.
