What puts me on edge most is that this is not actually about Slendy Himself. Slendy doesn't appear at all, not even in maleordermans blog. So, well - Slendy not existing doesn't have to mean this is not really happening.

It's been discussed in Angora. As for why it doesn't get much discussion here, look around. The long threads are only for vlogs. A blog is lucky to get a thread at all.

Blogs are fucking gay anyway, nothing happens in them. Vlogs are 20% cooler. There's nothing scary about blogs AT ALL. Nobody that is straight actually cares about this dilemma.

Granted, I'm a fan of "Dreams in Darkness" but did anyone actually believe that bullshit story that it would be turned into a book? It was a good story, a great read, but his writing is not book worthy. The story also wasn't long enough, nor linear enough to prove to a publisher that it should be a novel. I'd believe "Oh Dude, I storyifyed the blog and it's being published in Weird Tales!" but not the bit about it being a book.

All that said, I like the concept, the short fiction at the beginning is alright, the writing in the entries is good enough and I think it's going somewhere. I'll probably keep track of this one for a bit.

ETA: I also think it speaks to our current culture with the "BLARG! BLOGS ARE BORING! VLOGS ONLY!" sentiment. Can't being yourself to read anything because the story isn't "in your face" enough to make keep your overstimulated mind hooked.

Personally, I like blogs better. They're easier to serialize because editing can usually be done quickly and painlessly, with nothing more than an open-source word processor. No fancy equipment is needed, except a computer and if you give a shit about Slender Man I'm sure you have access to one, thus it's open to a much broader group to create. And, of course, it's much easier to avoid the dreaded 6 minute chunk of footage-of-the-ground-while-walking segments that seem to plague vlogs.
