I think we will see a mixed ending. Some will die, some will survive, there will be a comment about "going on" regardless of what happens. And their will be an implication that Slendy will come back.

Prediction: Dead Alex, Tim, Brian, Amy, and Jessica. Jay walks away damaged but alive.

You know, I have a question. Despite being on here a few months, I really haven't delved deeply into the various Slender-verses. Obviously, MH is pretty much the flagship of the slendy-vlogs (and maybe Slender culture as it is), but there's obviously a lot of other material out there.

So, here's my question: Have any of the other Slender blogs/vlogs/ARGs actually had an ending? I mean a definitive, curtain falls, "FIN" ending? I'm not counting an abandoned or failed series, or ones that merge with someone else. An ending can be a lot of things, it doesn't have to resolve everything or necessarily even be climatic, but should generally be considered a conclusion. I don't know that I've heard anyone mention another series as having done that.

I think if someone had, someone would have mentioned it on this thread at least (e.g. "Well as long as they don't do it like in 'Slenderstar Galactica'," or "I think 'Free Slendy' had a good ending, so they could do something like that"). And if no one has, I think that puts a lot of pressure on MH when they finally decide to tread into that ultimate groundbreaking moment.

This just reminds me of a diatribe I had the other day about the very idea of concluding a Slender-story. How would one go about that? The only logical conclusion would be, "Slender Man killed the main character(s). The End."

To do other than that, to have the main character(s) survive their chain of encounters with Slendy, or to even possibly win against him, would work against the whole idea of Slender Man. Say you've got Generic Slender Man Story, with Character A and Character B being stalked. This goes on for a while, the story gets quite a following, then the conclusion. The characters figure out how to defeat Slender Man. They do so and the story concludes, they survive and Slendy's been defeated.

That wouldn't sit well with the wider community, I think. The more well-known and accepted the story, the harder this would hit. Slender Man can be defeated. He has a weakness. That would go against the entire idea of Slender Man in the first place, that he is an invincible foe, that once he starts stalking, there is no hope for the target. Thus this would weaken the whole premise of Slender Man.

Now, putting this in context of Marble Hornets, I don't know how it could end, but, going with my argument, it could only end one way. Given how preeminent a story Marble Hornets is in the Slender Man mythos, however it ends will have a large and lasting impact on the mythos.

No pressure, lurking Troseph.

But The Operator and Slenderman are different entities. Which Troseph emphasizes often. So the Mythos as a whole would be unaffected since in the Greater Mythos MH is fictional anyway...Right?

That would be the case, but ask anyone outside the forums who just watch this show on YouTube when it pops up.
They still call Masky "TTA" and they call the Operator "Slenderman".
However this show ends will definitely impact the Slenderman's image...

The difficulty we have here (and in any story with a similar ARG format) is that we, the audience, are only being told the story beacause some of its characters upload videos to youtube. Whilst I know the creators aren't hugely worried about immersion, it would still be ridiculous to have Jay uploading a video of his own dramatic death! Basically, for us to get any sort of conclusion, either Jay or a TTA member has to make it far enough past the post to tell us how it all ended. There's been a few good suggestions of how that might happen in this thread.

An implied ending (like Just Another Fool) is still possible, but I'm not sure how well it would work in MH. Given as the whole thing is centred around the videos (in game as well as out) I can't see a twitter meltdown or the like being an ending very in keeping with the rest of the series.

A thought - since Jay started watching the videos from the blackout, I've been assuming that we will, at some point, reach the present day and start seeing Jay's new videos - the same as the first series. But is occurs that it might not happen that way.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The final revelation from the 7 months blackout is about Jay himself. He's done something... really bad. Maybe he ended up killing Alex himself, maybe its revealed that the Operators appearance was down to him, not Alex. Who knows. The final video from Jay reads something like... "This is the truth, and you all deserve to be told as well."

Maybe.... Rolling Eyes

Maybe we find out at the end that it was The Operator who was uploading the videos, maybe he just get's stronger if you think of him/watch him!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We are so dead if this is the case

I want this to exist. SO MUCH.

But regarding the ending... I think that an ending where they "defeat" the Operator (or successfully escape, etc) wouldn't make much sense in terms of the mythos. At best, the only way to "end" a series such as this one is to resolve the underlying mysteries presented in the course of the series -- for example, why Alex attracted the Operator's attention in the first place, who TTA is, why Tim was affected by the Operator, what Jay did during his missing seven months, and why Jay woke up in a hotel after that time with no memory of it. (Just to name a few.)

But the actual "danger" of The Operator would still have to continue (unless the characters are killed) due to the very nature of the creature.

I think it would be interesting to see that Alex has been being possessed by the Operator at least some of the time. He doesn't remember doing this and has been trying to help Jay but when under possession, works against him. He is TTA, but doesn't remember posting the videos because he was under control of the Operator at the time.

Tim disappears and a few weeks later, his body is found. Jessica shows up at Alex's house, he lets her in, and she does that "open a door, teleport and not come out the other side, doesn't appear back on camera for extended period of time thing", except she doesn't reappear again at all.

Jay finds Alex, sets up cameras in the house to watch him, and that is how either he or Alex finds out that Alex is being controlled by Slendy. He shows it to Alex and when Alex realises he's horrified.

One day while they're looking for Jessica, the Operator appears. Jay turns to run but Alex stays put because he's been goddamn taken over by this force and is angry as hell and even though he's clearly terrified, he's going to confront him, because dying can't be much worse than what he's been going through the last few years.

When Jay turns around to see where Alex is, he and the Operator are gone. Again. That night, Jay wakes up to find Alex standing over him. After a brief struggle, Alex hands him a gun and tells Jay to kill him because he can't keep being taken over by this thing.

Jay says he won't, Alex grabs the gun, Jay jumps to try and stop him and knocks over the camera. You hear a loud gunshot and the film goes black. Jay is pretty much alone by this point. Tim is dead, Jessica is gone, Alex is dead, and he doesn't know what to do.

Then one night he's lying in bed, reviewing footage on a handheld camera. The Operator appears outside his house. He gets up and rushes to try and attack him because he's also now pretty messed up, seeing as people he cared about have been killed from this. When he opens the door, the Operator is right there - and then the camera falls. You hear only Jay's heavy breathing, see the Operator's shoes, suddenly a quiet sob, and a drop of blood falls next to the camera. Then another, and then a slow trickle that pools, all in the freaky negative or polarized colors that the camera shifted into when Alex got too close to the Operator.

The Operator takes a step backwards, and the film starts to clear up and unglitch as he disappears into the darkness step by step. We see the blood in true color, and no sound whatsoever coming from Jay.

The ending will be a "live" webcast. As in they will record the video beforehand, stream the video on justin.tv or something so it looks live, and it will be insane.

The Operator has little story ties to the overall Slender Man mythos. Therefore, they can do whatever the hell they want with the character.

He can be a horse in a costume for all we know.

Or a broom in a horse costume.

I think you'll find your "broom in a horse costume" theory holds little water.

No hats, masks.

First of all, you are awesome.

Secondly, I want it to end with sort of a happy ending, like Jay escapes and doesn't have to worry anymore but still knows that the Operator is still out there tormenting people. All I know is that if the Operator is killed in the ending, I will be REALLY pissed off.

The last entry will start off like this

Much of the questions we have are close to being resolved. we're almost certain of totheark's motives, which side Alex is on, and why Jay is even a part of all this. The last question to be answered is what is the ark?

Jay gets various clues as to its location. Turns out that it's hidden somewhere in Rosswood park so Jay goes searching for the ark. Then he hears a noise but no one is there when he turns around so he just starts running. During his run the camera starts distorting every so often but then with increasing frequency until the distortion becomes constant and very loud.

Then, in all that distortion you can make out a light of somekind. Jay runs towards the light and once he reaches it the distortion stops and turns to a very low soft hum. The area is a clearing that's very serene. Jay looks around and then notices a box. He starts to walk up to the box and we can see the operator symbol scribbled on it. At this point we hear someone yell "Jay!" and Alex, TTA, Jessica, and all of the rest of the marble hornets crew is standing at a different entrance to the clearing. Jay starts to run towards them but they all say "No!" and Alex tells him that he has to open that box because they had tried to find it and had searched this clearing before but the box only appeared when Jay was here, so it must be his job to open it. The TTA members tell him that they will be saved if he opens the ark. Just as they say ark the video starts to distort and the operator is seen on the other side of the clearing. He starts to walk towards the box and everyone except Jay goes to try and stop him. Jay then runs towards the box. The camera jolts up to see the crew members still charging towards the operator and then jolts back down to the box. Jay fumbles with it , trying to tear off the lid which he eventually gets open. We see the box half open, but we can only see darkness in the box at this point. The video flashes in between heavy distortion and clear pictures. We see Jay's hand rip off the lid and then the camera cuts to black for a few seconds...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
And then we hear "NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP."

I see the last entry happening in one of one ways:

It will be an upload with a strange name, similar to entry ######. It will feature each character of the cast who have died in some way wrought by Slenderman/people working for Slendy. Simple enough.

At the end of the video, Slenderman will do something Slenderman has never done before. He will turn and walk away.
