OK, I know I already pitched in with an ending idea, but here's an alternate.

PENULTIMATE ENTRY: At the close of this entry we saw Tim, Alex and Jay getting into a knock-down dragged-out fight over control of the Ark, which was interrupted by the sudden appearance of the Operator, which prompted Jay to flee (with the Ark in hand), leaving one of his cameras behind (the handheld, he's wearing the chestcam). Said camera shows the Operator doing something horrendous to Tim and Alex; white text on a black background at the end explains that Jay came back and retrieved the camera later, and found no sign of the Operator, or Tim, or Alex, or the mysterious building/shrine/hole in the ground/whatever in which the Ark was stored.

FINAL ENTRY. Shot is of Jay sitting in a poorly-lit room. He is wearing a mask, but we know that it is Jay: he is wearing the same clothes he did in the last entry, and he has a very obvious wound which we got a good, clear shot of in the last entry, and it's his voice talking. We've also seen him wearing the mask in question in previous entries (perhaps because by this point he's teamed up with Tim against Alex, or because he's discovered the true purpose of the masks and is trying to exploit it). In short, it's pretty obvious this is Jay and not someone pretending to be him.

JAY: You've all seen what happened in the last entry. Jessica, Alex, Tim... everyone's gone except me. I've been trying to figure out the Ark for some time now...

[Jay opens the Ark. It is angled so that we, the viewers, can't see what is inside it, but there's a bright light of an unusual colour shining from inside it. Jay stares into the light for an uncomfortably long moment, before he shakes his head as if to clear it and closes it again.]

JAY: ...sorry... like I said, I've been trying to figure it out. I think I understand why Tim wanted it so badly, why he couldn't let it go after having just a taste of it... I mean, you've all seen what it let him do...

[The shots of Tim teleporting about Jay's room in season 1 are shown, as well as a shot of Tim doing something really quite impossible in season 3.]

JAY: ...but at the same time, I also see why that... thing was guarding it. Why Alex was guarding it. Why all the people in that book were guarding it. There's only me left now. The Operator can't touch me now that I have the Ark. Not that that's any consolation for anyone else...

JAY: ...but now I've got this box, and I don't know what I'm going to do with it. And what's worse is, you can do anything with this thing. There's... not much in the way of limits. And I don't know how long I'll stay in control of myself. It's already taken so much from me...

[Jay removes his mask. In the instant before Operator-distortion completely turns the image to shit, we see that Jay now has no face.]

^Besides that awesome ending, I don't see MH going that way at all, or the ark being a handheld object.

Oy. The possibilities aren't endless, but there's a number of ways it could happen. Here are a few off the top of my head:

1. Something about or pertaining to the "ark".

2. Finding someway to protect yourself from/kill The Operator
or
2. Everyone is taken/killed by The Operator

3. Everyone becomes a part of "Team Masky", a.k.a. totheark.
or
3. "Team Masky"/totheark is exterminated by either The Operator or an irate Alex (don't know how, but it could happen, given Entry 45).

4. Implied ending - but there's about a 99.9% chance that won't happen.

Like I said, these are just a few out of my head. There could be any combination of these endings, or none at all.

Season 2 Finale: At the end of Entry 38, we find out Alex IS the Operator and has killed Jay. We realize the present day Jay we know was Tim's sister: Jessica. Also, Amy was Skully.

I told people Troy was going to do a 3rd season, but no, I was wrong because "Troy had basically said this was it" and to accept it and move on. I love being right.
