Jay and has been the entire series. He's just hasn't known it, and has been helping Alex, The OP, Tim, etc move on to the afterlife. Smile

Simple, it doesn't end. It gets passed down to another person, and it gets passed down from there, for the rest of time

For me it needs 3 main items to be explained:

#1. What is the operator
#2. What/why did he haunt Alex and what is Tim's role.
#3. What does the Operator need/want from Alex and/or Tim.

I like that idea of it getting passed down to another person. Very Happy

I hope Troy doesn't pull a Mass Effect 3. I want there to be closure, explanation, and definitely a revelation as to exactly who ToTheArk is. I don't expect The Operator to be explained, and I highly doubt the ending will be happy.

Placing my bet:
I) I don't think they will explain what the Operator is, but will explain his/it's intentions. Not in the "scientific shows up and explains everything" way so much used in the movies, but I think it will be something like Entry #19.5, Jay connecting the dots and showing us whatever he has found so far. Cue massive "OH SHIT" from all of us.
II) Alex will most definetly die. Probably via the Operator.
III) Something bad, not precisely death, will happen to Mr. Sideburns, AKA Tim.
IV) The last entry will be J saying something along the lines "I never wanted be a part of all of this, but I'm now glad it's all settled. Rest In Peace, Alex."
V) It WON'T be a cliffhanger. If the last frame is of J doing something apparently normal, and the Operator distortion subtly kicking in, that would certainly be a middle finger. Depends more on what kind of an ending we get, but I can't see it.
---
That's all I can think about, though I really have no real idea of what WILL happen.
Excited as hell for this final season.

The closer we get, the more I think the last video will be a TTA video. Probably titled "Conclusion" or something like that.

I think it will either be pants shittingly terrifying, OR will be much more heavily textual than previous TTA videos. At any rate, it will say something to the effect of "I'LL BE IN TOUCH" or "I'LL BE WATCHING" and then "REGARDS."

So, effectively how many people imagine Homestuck to end.

My first thought was immediately, "Son of a... So LOST, basically? Except I actually watched this one." My second thought was that the whole "moving on to the afterlife" thing seems like it would fit in better with Tribe Twelve. And the same goes for the "Passing it on" theory, since Tribe Twelve seems to revolve around his cousin getting stalked, and then him getting stalked. Or something. I don't know.

I think we're going to get one moment of blindingly brilliant stupidity on behalf of someone on these newest tapes (likely Tim) and that shows us how TO went down then we get a shot of Jay burning the tapes like Alex wanted him to in the beginning.

As long as Tim doesn't die, I'm happy. He can be terribly, fatally, herendously immorally injurred, I don't care, but he can't die. He's too sexy. I could say some kinf of spurlike occurance taking place, like Masky exhibiting aforementioned affliction from either trying to kill and/or save Jay (because there's a lot of speculation about whether Masky is a good guy or a bad guy), or if Tim is with Jay at night and has an Operator-induced seizure which causes him to turn into Masky, and yeah. I'm a dreamer. I'm pretty certain that Alex will die on the other hand, and to be frank, I really wouldn't mind such a chosen fate because...well, I cannot stand him and I don't see any incentive there would be to have him live through to the end and beyond. Even if he doesn't end up the victim of homicide, he'll probably end up killing himself because it's probable that his mind is futzed up to the point of no return.

I'm on the fence about everybody else except for Slenderator who I am almost certain will never be completely explained. I could see Jay simply ending the whole thing with a message that reads "I, nor has anybody else, come to any sensible conclusions about the spectre known as the Operator. My guess it, we never will." After all, I think a lot of us don't even want to know exactly who/what Slendy is. The mystery is what sets the spooky/mysterious factor.

This idea popped into my head today and I need to get it out! What if Jay does what any normal person would do and take the videos to the police? They arrest Alex and due to the nature of his crimes he gets put on death row (since Alabama has the death penalty.) Then Alex spends the rest of his life in maximum security prison and if there's a camera on him the Operator can visit him in his cell whenever he likes. Years pass and Alex is literally unable to escape.

Whatever happens after that point is pretty grim. Either Alex gets executed with the Operator watching over him (perhaps messing with the lights/electricity for maximum scary), or Alex ends up dead in his cell after the Operator feasts on him, or Alex gets declared insane and moved to a maximum security mental health unit where he lives for decades with the Operator watching over him.

Not the kind of ending we'll see, of course, but an interesting one. Shocked

Sounds like Seeking Truth, sort of.
