Well, that certainly would have been an ending.

Ya, they ultimately decided it wouldn't work. Largely because if they tried to do that effect with the Operator, they'd crash their car, but also because they just didn't think the whole "Jay never posts again" worked well with the way the plot was developing.

I either fail at searching or I just can't seem to find the interview. Would anyone happen to have the link?

Directors do kind of do that all the time. You don't wanna let plot devices loose too early.

Edit: Anyway, they only weren't supposed to film there anymore, from what I got. They could have just snuck in/#58 could have been making a joke about that.

afaik they only said they couldn't use the location of #13 anymore, and people here thought the basement of doom was inside of that pumping station on account of all the pipes. I could be wrong though.

I'm willing to bet that most of you are going to hate the ending. When it comes to a series that prides itself on making the viewer ask a ton of questions, the viewer is going to want a ton of answers. However, not every single question can be answered because that would ruin the mystique the series was founded upon. For some reason or another though, people hate that. Everyone wants every single question answered. Look at how people reacted when Mass Effect 3 ended (before extended cut was released), or when Lost ended. I don't think this will be any different.

However, I'm open minded about these stated issues and realize that this is Troy and Joseph's creative outlet. I believe they said they had the ending in mind during or even before season 2 started. So just remember, this is something they're putting a lot of time and effort into. Whatever the ending is, it's not going to be cheap or uninspired.

Probably, but I'll burn that bridge when I come to it. However, that's a widely-stated strawman. Rarely do people "want all questions answered," usually, they want a few of the major things explained. When you get an ending that doesn't explain anything, it's annoying, though a lot of people act like it's deep, which is even more annoying.

Ya that's not why people hated the ending to Lost, the ending to Lost sucked for like a billion other reasons.

And Troy and Joseph have been saying they have the ending planned out since before Season 2, but they've also said since before this season they're gonna answer most of the questions. They've said there's some specific questions that they want to keep unanswered, the only example we know of is that they won't have an Operator origin story. They gave two random examples for other questions they will answer, 1)What really happened to Brian and 2)What happened to Jessica.

Also, the main reason most of Unfiction is gonna hate the ending is because a lot of us are really specific about what we want from it. They think "The ending needs to match these factors in these specific ways, and if it doesn't EVERYTHING IS RUINED." The problem is those people all have different ways they think the factors need to go. For instance, if one factor is if the Operator is alive, then factor one is yes, factor two is no. So, even if there's only three factors we base our opinion of the ending on, there's still 8 possible endings, and Marble Hornets can only match one. 7/8 of you are gonna be disappointed.

The way to get around that is to not be attached. Don't feel like they need to do _______ in the ending and that otherwise it RUINS EVERYTHING. Just accept that we don't know what the ending and try to enjoy it when it comes out. If you make preconceptions about the ending and then insist they have to be true, then a lot of you are gonna be disappointed, because you can't all be right.

I generally do "go with the flow." I don't really like setting definitive standards, like "If X happens, then I quit," because what if X happens but it either wasn't that bad, or actually kind of interesting? I just have this vague feeling that I'm going to find the ending disappointing, regardless.

There are the people who want the series to end in a certain way and then there's the people who just want the series to end in a way that it "ties up all the loose ends." It's annoying when a series leaves open plot holes and just blatantly doesn't address them (ex, for now, #29), if they aren't just red herrings. MH can both end mysteriously (ex: The Operator's lack of an origin is not a plot hole) and satisfy the people who want an ending that effectively wraps up the series. As long as it all connects/makes sense, people will be satisfied.

Which, going by the Lost analogy AND the Mass Effect 3 analogy, is something that both those stories failed to do. ME3 left you with this HUGELY problematic ending whereas Lost completely ignored half of the issues and events that occurred throughout the series. Also, the creators pretty much lied to the audience when they said they were going to answer anything about the island...

Like, we need to know what happened to Alex, because his just having disappeared would be kind of cheap. We need to know what happened to Jessica for the same reason. #29 should fit in with the continuity of the story (not really gonna be surprised or let down if it doesn't though), and Totheark's/Hoody's identity really should be revealed.

Also, if the series doesn't tell us what "the ark" is, or give any legitimate implication concerning it, then yeah, I quit. Razz

That's kind of different from "if X dies I quit," because that's just a matter of where they decide to go with the plot, that's their decision. But the plot they have given us, they need to make coherent and logical. Fair, no?

Yes, but can I just ask, what is the problem with Entry 29?

Currently we can't seem to fit it logically into the canon (no visible timespace for it, clothing is incorrect for any entry, things like the shirt, rocks, and puddle mess up attempts to connect it to the Bruce murder), we have no idea who recorded it (assumption is Alex obviously but still not when), and we don't know how it ended up on Jay's laptop, or what its true relevance to plot is except as a teaser for the things to come in Season 2.
