Someday, when someone is really bored, might be interesting to create a spreadsheet of the types of spam uF gets. This thread is just the tip of the iceberg, folks. Would have to be one of the spam patrol - we've been posting the names & IPs in an Admin thread and now up to 156 pages since we started patrolling (and most of the time we've noted the type of spam).

Regarding the large amount of UK kitchen spam: Bang Head

On principle, there should be a place our members could go to give any of these spamming companies poor online reviews.

The next time we get Kitchen spam, don't delete it, just lock it... I need it for my KYM entry... I want to know how is doing this and why.

Nope, sorry, not how we handle things. Locking spam doesn't hurt the spam/spammer. Spam gets deleted, not memorialized.

And the only "KYM entry" i am aware of is a "know your meme" thing, so.... That can't possibly be what you are talking about, right?

as for "How" and "Why" it's spam, there isn't rhyme or reason. And while it looks like all we get is kitchen spam, as Kona said we actually get a TON more spam than that. Nike, Abercrombie & Fitch, Pandora, etc etc etc

Lots of WoW Gold spam as well.
My comment was that it seemed all the kitchen spam was for online UK sites.
As Pixie wrote, I can't imagine why you would need to see spam locked in here.
How? They find an online forum, create an account (cause the Admins probably have blocked guest posters from creating links), then write a post that includes open (or hidden) links. Sometimes they create a post without spam then come back in a day or two to edit and insert (thinking it will get past the spam patrol).
Why? To increase traffic to a web site. They might get paid based on posted links or on clicks, hard to tell.
