Meh, as long as they get the message, then that's all that's important. But it looks like tomorrow's going to be a blast, from the transmissions!

Not sure what the motto stuff was about, if they just think it'd be cool, or there's a "correct answer" of some kind. I'm still boggled they're doing this kind of thing so close to the movie opening, but hey, NOT a complaint.

So going to send this along to them via email first, I had fun with some Latin:
lucem in tenebras ferimus (into the darkness we bring light)

I had veritatis lucem tenebras (truth's light in darkness) but I think the translation is dodgy grammatically. Never studied Latin. Just in case there are any Latin grammar Nazis lurking, we can't have that.

Secondly, once you've been to have a look at that, is how we're going to keep the Wall and her task force out of this in favour of some real scientists.

Happily, Robert has had a good idea about that. The plan is to use Wall's techniques against her and perform a little misdirection. (It's slightly scary getting a look into how Robert's brain works after five years of working for her, but lets put that to one side for the moment and remember that the end doesn't justify the means). If we make this too small no one would believe it, so we're going to the top. NASA top.

Think about it - what do you do with a highly trained, mobile task force who are used to operating in some of the most hostile terrain on earth? You send them out to some of the most hostile terrain on earth. They love that kind of thing, it's what they do best. So they'll be looking for gamma radiation that will supposedly tell them where this mysterious UFO will come down. Using co-ordinates we supply. We've started them off with places including Afghanistan and the Bermuda triangle, but we need to keep the pressure up. Mail any thoughts to us or Robert and we'll keep feeding them into the machine. The more outlandish and hard to get to, the better.

Meanwhile, we've got to appear neutered, not a threat - so when you see the next post on the blog, don't be surprised. Calm surface, frantic paddling beneath. Yes, we're breaking out the duck metaphors. Also, we're a bit hysterical. Can you tell? What we need is a contact with actual scientists at NASA - our error before was to go through Dr Waller, who got to control everything about that interaction. We need to grow the guild - the larger we are, the more credibility we'll have. It's great to have so many international members - do get the word out to any astronomy fans you know.
