I thought you had to put the file name after "bomb/" in order to access the files...

Yeah, me too. Just found brutus.txt:

Quote:
ugh, rain.

ok, so we're seeing not only the time periods caesar mentioned earlier, but just a constant barrage of activity, everywhere. it's crazy - the fluctuations are not only peaking several times a day, but even the base level is much higher than normal. i'm pulling logs from some local machines here - even the cv, and it's just unreal. i also (cough) got into a local utility's meter logs, but even with a 24-hour turnaround, you can see the first several waves of this maelstrom. a few paranormal websites and message boards have also reported strange doings, which is alternately funny and frightening. i don't think they know, exactly, that this is all quite real.

speaking of the reality of these whomps, painkillers can't even dull the tension i'm feeling right now. i am not sure what scratch is up to, but i've talked it over with caesar, and we agreed that we have to proceed gently, yet firmly. what's reassuring - oddly - is the slightly more chaotic nature of the bursts. we're seeing immense power levels, but it's not ... ok, it's methodical. i can't quite explain. it's more random and experimental. i would almost say that you could begin to detect a pattern, but then the logs indicate a ceasefire for an hour or so, and then it all starts up again.

fickle data!

we're gonna see how close we can get. i've been hoping for some strange lights, or perhaps a nice cozy hotel to spring up out of nowhere so we can chill in comfort, but no dice. heh. guess i'll have to hobble into trouble.

please, all of you, be careful.

scratch, you most of all. i mean it.

Yikes!

Great minds think alike Yanka! Very Happy

So, ummm...what gives with textel then? I'm starting to think the next URL will have 'deathwish' in it.

Yeah, she's definitely talking about Beth's experiments with AI Man.

Looks like Beth is about to meet some friends. I wonder if that's why she hasn't been online all day...she's been really busy testing her AI friend? I really hope we find out how this meeting goes tonight. This game has gotten much better lately at updating in semi-real time. So if Caesar and Texel (and Random? he hasn't said anything) are getting closer right now, maybe we'll hear from Beth or from them (or both) in a little while. Yay...

Meanwhile, I really can't get my head around what's up with Scratch. He obviously knows all about Caesar's history... maybe he'll show up too and it'll be like a three way confrontation. Cool.

Hmm. I hope Random's ok. I think he's my new favorite character...why hasn't he posted some insightful randomness yet?

Well, if Scratch is roaming around whomphunting, it certainly explains why Caesar logged him on the move. Makes me wonder why though? Scratch obviously has no respect for C, so why risk his hide looking for whatever it is C is looking for?

The impression I'm getting though, is Beth and AI Man are off experimenting somewhere while the Monitors reload. If they're doing anything like what was suggested by the bulk of people here, it'll be things like moving around, lifting things, etc etc... Does this possibly mean that while AI man is affecting one section of reality, other bits of reality are negatively affected? ie, AI Man takes Beth's sense of taste away here, and over there the computing resources he used to take away Beths' taste are drained from the environment, resulting in green lights, levitating cats, red lakes etc etc?

In case it helps anyone, here's all the Brutus files I can think of that we have yet to see (in a handy piece of code):

Code:

<a href = 'http://www.cascadevortex.com/bomb/brutus2.kbp'>brutus2.kbp</a><br>

<a href = 'http://www.cascadevortex.com/bomb/brutus.qm2'>brutus.qm2</a><br>
<a href = 'http://www.cascadevortex.com/bomb/brutus.ypt'>brutus.ypt</a><br>

Maybe it'll help...

Why, what a handy piece of code, umdesch... with a handy piece of code like that you could even periodically scan for new files. Or, make a very neat bowl of ramen. If you like your ramen in HTML. And not real. Wink

Anyone using that or something like it: take care not to run it too often (like, every 2 minutes)... lets not get killbanned for bruting, eh? Wink

Laughing Yeah, I was trying to assemble a list of files to be hunting for, based on all the file extensions we've seen so far, and that came out of it.

I'm sure there are people out there with automated scripts to hunt for this stuff, but I opted for a lower-tech method. I'm only checking every so often, in between hunting for other site updates, running stegdetect on various images floating around, and especially turning all the audio inside out. I figure it's only a matter of time before they throw a 'spectral footprint' clue into an audio file...and I'll hopefully be right there when it happens. Wink

Wouldn't it be easier to do an "[img src=]" type thing?

Actually I guess that would only work for pics.

Speaking of which, where is the discussion going on for that good/bad list in Wongmo's writings? http://www.wongmo.org/writings.html

Did it get solved, and I just missed it? Or is it more gibberish?

Chris.
