One of Josh's facts about Bass fish. This ties in with the creature's attraction to electricity.

FACT: Bass fish have a sixth sense called electroreception. This sense allows them to detect chemicals, lights, electricity and vibration.

...and a certain other fish hon Wink

All those facts are interesting ..are they not?

Here is a theory.....The creature could shed its skin?

It was probably small inside the train but when it escaped it is possible it either evolved or shed to become huge.

Butterflies? Insects?

If you give people the genuine impression that there is an ARG to follow in May 2010 and in May 2011 they're wondering where the ARG is, then it would be Realistic to expect them to be a little pissed.

Maybe they stopped doing the ARG because something else (making as much $ as possible?) came up - so eventually they let the ARG go.

I really don't want to know more about the movie - I'd rather find it out at the theater. I would however like to know A LOT MORE about the "ARG".

Well before we start a picket line we'll have to come up with a list of demands.
For starters -

Let us fly the SSF1.
Explain vitas relic.
Disclose the DEVICE.
Reveal Josh's location.
Give us our physics degrees.

Kicking ass for the ARGing class!

On my Soap Box

Well, I'm feeling somewhat among the living and haven't assumed room temperature yet, but I'll go the Bill Cosby way of venting.

Resettito, what the foul filth foul foul filth foul foul can that Bozo (or Bozo-ette) know about the script. There were NO rough, semi-rough, abrasive, smooth, or velveteen drafts of S8. My friend's brother's ex-girlfriend's next door neighbor's cat that habitually wears the foul filth foul foul filth foul foul filth form-fitting feline foil fabrics and festooned with Faberge ornaments on her foul filth foul foul filth foul aluminum lingerie and knows for a fact that JJ does not dictate, nor write scripts, nor does he have that done for him. Some years back he was fitted with a foul filth foul foul filth foul foul usb port behind his left ear, and only the most aluminum foilistic-fetished of his foul filth foul foul filth foul minions are able to tap into his foil-shrouded flash drive to download directly important info. Bottom line--the IMDB guy may be one of our forum's own, who oddly seems to have dropped off the radar here--anyway, you're correct, it's BS (bogus script).

Jane, my conundrum-posing shiny side up, sonnet swooning, aluminum bonnet bearing roll of foil; what the foul filth foul foul filth foul filth foul fowl have we (yourself, Kelwhite, Melodyman, little ole me, etc.) become? In retrospect, what should we have expected this past year? Answers to an ARG that seems to be made up as the faithful (or is it gullible) gamers are led Helter Skelter, hither and yawn (?) Just a suggestion, this being my first ARG, why not have an acronym for something that initially intrigues and hooks you in, and then either 1) crams SO much in the remaining days before the film (that is supposedly related to the "game" opens, that's in fact, more like not getting a deserved Rocket Poppeteers popsicle once a month throughout the duration of the "game," but rather having a semi-truck drop off ten thousand at your front door, and your freezer has room for one ice cube tray and three frozen waffles, or 2) just leaves you hanging. It's no longer a game; it's become a "Clovie-sized joke," and we're the ones that are the buttocks of the joke, so how about for some "game" where the joke's on the gamer, calling it an "Alternate Reality Joke"--ARJ, or "prank"-- ARP?

No Jane, unfortunately, "where's Josh" doesn't matter---I suppose that's part of the Mystery in JJ's Box; there is no Josh Minker, Easter Bunny, or Sanity Clause. And as far as your "free" foul filth foul foul filth foul filth foul T-Shirt, popsicle, foil coupons, etc. at least I hope you still have your roll of foil, and I guess this is what one of the lessons of the ARJ is...it's not about viral marketing! Just try and explain what this game was all about from front to start, and don't leave out any of the monumentally important clues that we were on the verge of making road trips over, and after we've explained this to the best of our abilities, try explaining how this befuddled, as in Elmer B. Fuddled mess stimulates buzz over the movie Super 8. (and yes, you could have probably did a very good job on the "foil coupons."---but to make them accurate, you'd have to have them embossed, "Good for Nothing") on one side, and "There's One Born Everyday" on the other!

And finally, StanSitwell, unfortunately (or fortunately, I suppose it's how you look at it), you wouldn't be put away into anal penitentiary; it'd be a simple penile institution, though not to worry, after this anti-viral marketing endeavor is over, there's plenty who should be institutionalized, and not for forcing some guy to repeat his big opportunity by reading dialogue.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Well, I certainly feel like a schlep for participating in this schlep.

To the victor go the foils

As for this ARG where IS our prize? Those of us who have blogged, searched, contemplated the insane, taken physics classes on our days off, flown a rocket ship, followed blurry pictures into an editing room full of black and white images and videos, found devices that go no where, found a man who had OCD about nearly extinct fish and Oscar Fish Fetishes. We have listened to audio files that have led nowhere, looked at photos that were interesting, found craiglists objects that we could not buy (despite email requesting to purchase the items listed), found maps to places we could no access because of snow drifts (and the chance that we might be collected as in-patients), followed from snow to desert, watched numerous hours of boring yet interesting archive video footage, been subjected to physics......oops getting redundant. We have worn foil hats, searched endless internet leads, broken down to code various web pages with no avail.

I believe that this breaks down this kafka of an ARG. Where 'smy black and white footage and code? Where's the DEVICE going? And, if the device goes somewhere, who's there? The Russian is dead. Will it be Josh's dad? Will the devices purpose be revealed in the movie? At this point does the movie, the monster or the cubes even matter? Who gives a flying crap about E.T. cubes! I want answers! "IS IT SAFE!!!!"

Just remember..

IT IS COMING!

Seems to be the mantra of this whole ARG.

We just have to wait and be spoon fed rather than find things for ourselves.

We see the monster a bit more when the clerk is being dragged out. I DEFINITELY see a leg that looks really human-like, but it's huge, the creature must be like 5, 6 meters high, and the roar seems bad ass as well. Pause at 6 seconds, you'll see the huge leg.

Oh and it feels like the roar is different when the other guy gets attacked.

Here's a few shots:

Monsters

Hey all.
Just a quick one to say I watched all of the footage out there in whole and frame by frame and I think you can see the face of the monster/monsters in at least two of the trailers.
I have picture grabs but don't want to spoil the fun for anyone so those who want to know can look for themselves.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The scenes you need are the much talked about one where the army officers are shooting in the air and the other is the guy on the cherry picker fixing the cables.
You will need to watch full screen, freeze frame, to see what I think I saw.

Happy Hunting.

Knowing Abrams he either had the CG team swap the real appearance of the creature for something different or eliminated almost its entire body from the trailers.

Hey Tim Very Happy

I actually played around with these in some picture software looking at contrast, shadowing etc and I now do not believe that either of these are the face. However, both still appear to be *pieces* of the monster which seems to have a seperate and reflective texture to the trees.
I don't know how to post an image off of my desktop.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The first image I spotted was in TV Spot 2 on the super8 site during timecode 0:18/0:33. I was double clicking play/pause as quickly as I could. Manged to get about 8 or 9 frames by doing this.
TV Spot 3 had blue frames - captured 0:28 only.
TV Spot 4 - Nice little homage to LOST @ 0:23 - Locke Very Happy
TV Spot 5 - 0:06 has a nice leg as previously mentioned. I have a clean shot before the glass smashes.
Trailer 1 has blue monster frames in the credit shots - 1 at 0:38 and also
046 and 0:48 have blue shots but I can't manage to grab it right!!
1:04 has a few too. Putting them together it looks like someone in an underground cave or something similar.Theres a lot of waterbands running down each frame. I think pretty much anywhere you spot blue there are hidden frames
Trailer 2 - 01:25, 01:52, 2:19 & 2:05 is just funny Very Happy

I haven't had time to do the rest yet.

Hey there, I'm new to this board and I figured this threat might fit the subject.. (English is not my mother tongue, so.. sorry in advance Smile

About the monster details.. I got to see a new clip on youtube and
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
there's one scene where we see something crawling upwards under the kid's shirt.. I figured it cannot be the cube, at least it didn't look like it.

Thought I just share Smile

You can see what I mean at 14 seconds.
