I hate to quell creativity in its bloom, but I have to side with Bawwing, in a way, here; it is an interesting find, but the overall art style means that trying to interperate features of that figure is pretty much an odyssey in vain. The art style of TTA is not only creepy, but extreme vague and demented; trying to figure out if something is human is enough of an achievement, might as well trying to decipher facial features

That's what I'm trying to convey here. I do it a lot in my own series too (create odd spooky doodles that are open to speculation while not really explaining what they mean) MH just gives me a strong Hitchcock/Abrams vibe.
Put simply: TTA is the Super 8 monster.

and yes I am in the Tim = Masky = TTA. Deal with it haters Cool

It DOES look familiar! (because you drew in all the features yourself.

Dude, seriously. If you can't seriously contribute to the discussion, just don't post. You don't have to constantly make fun of/troll/put down every single post that doesn't agree with what you think.

Knock it off.

I've contributed plenty already and I'm sorry for being one of the supporters of good old Occam and his razor.

Ahem... Occam's Razor doesn't stipulate that the most simple answer is always the right one, just that we should "tend toward" the simplest answer while leaving ourselves open to newer theories. I've noticed you ripping into people a lot and to newer people, it doesn't create a friendly environment. I for one think that the mask can be clearly seen, and it could end up leading to something.

Obviously Marble Hornets is complex enough to disregard Occam's Razor entirely, since good writers will often try to intensify their plots by taking you off course with twists and turns.

Try to keep an open mind.

Thank you Smile For what it's worth, while taking the Occam's Razor approach (ie Timasky = TTA) is the simplest answer, nothing about Marble Hornets is easy, like Tao said, and I for one would be disappointed if they chose now to take the simple way out.

On a side note, there's nothing that says that TTA is doing anything but toying with Jay and the rest of us by putting a masked figure in his drawing. It could mean that yes, it is Masky, or it could just as easily mean that TTA's identity is still secret, and that he can't be recognized so easily.

And remember, TTA is obviously a bit on the crazy side, so for all we know, he just tossed the masked figure in there to get us good and confused about who it was.

A random thought.

The figure in the drawing gives a "man, I'm fucked" vibe. Only if the figure in the drawing is more than TTA saying "someone was there", though.

^ Agreed. That picture definitely gives off the "I'm dead but I just popped up to say hello" other than the vibe of "Lol I was behind the tree the whole time!"

Since we're discussiong Occam's Razor, I thought to bring this up again.

OOG
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I would like to take this oppertunity to coin the phrase Joseph's Razor.

In the Radio interview, (on the topic of endings) Joseph made a point in saying that there shouldn't have to be a big twist to make something good. If your story is relying on a twist or something like that, it's just weak. It should be about the ride of the experience, no matter what may or may not know about the end.

Thus, Joseph's Razor may apply here.

Applying Occam's Razor to the drawing, it's TTA. That's clear anyway, unless you're just grasping for straws.

Applying Joseph's Razor to TTA in general, Tim is TTA.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's all about the ride.

Ooh, I was going to bring that up earlier, but then I forgot to do so. It's a great point!

Sad You're right - that would be the simplest solution. But I still hope it isn't true! **not giving up hope** And I feel like they've maintained enough plausible deniability that it wouldn't be a huge twist if TTA turns out to be someone else. After all, breaking Tim's leg before Entry #39 and Forecast - while not indisputable proof that he's not TTA- does provide an excellent out.

I guess I just don't understand all the animosity toward the Tim = TTA theory. It was established early on that Jay assumed Masky and TTA to be the same entity; it's not like it would come out of left field.

The only thing that kinda makes me think they're not the same entity is that, as someone mentioned before, the reveal of Masky wasn't followed immediately by some sort of acknowledgement of Tim being TTA.

But there's not a whole lot of solid evidence against Tim being TTA either. People keep bringing up the leg thing, but just because Jay said that Alex broke his leg doesn't mean that it was really broken. I doubt they stuck around to examine him to make sure.

Anyway, like I said, I'm kind of unclear about why the idea of Tim being TTA rankles so many people so badly. Why would that be the "easy way out"?

Since we're discussing TTA's identity, i'd like to point out a theory i read once and wouldnt be entirely shocked to find to be true.

If you review TTA's videos, you'll notice they take a very large, very sudden shift in style several times throughout the course of the series. This leads me to believe that TTA could be not just one person, but several people fighting for control of the account, or perhaps sharing it. Not to say that there's multiple maskies or anything, but i think the idea of several people fighting for control over what messages Jay gets makes a good bit of sense to me.

@sjhartsfield:

Hm. Well for me, the idea of Tim being TTA doesn't rankle me per se... And I don't feel any animosity toward that theory. I guess it's a matter of the plot becoming almost too simple if that turns out to be the case. Marble Hornets started out with a lot of different characters introduced to us in the tapes, and most of them dropped out never to be heard from again. Except for Tim - he's the only person involved with MH that Jay was able to talk to face to face. It was great, a huge step forward plotwise! We'd already been introduced to TTA, and that was super exciting! Then Jay got Masky-tackled, and bricks were shat! So we had three elements added into the story beyond just Jay, Alex, and the Operator. I was in the camp who suspected Masky was Tim from the start, so for me, there were two distinct personas driving the story and moving Jay along. For them BOTH to be the same individual is simply not as cool to me. I want there to be more going on than just one crazed individual creeping around and making cryptic videos. Also, as I've said before and you even mentioned, there are certain things pointing toward Tim not being TTA, such as the broken leg (which we're pretty sure was actually broken due to Masky's limp in #33) and Jay failing to conclude that Tim is TTA after the Masky reveal. None of it is conclusive, sure - but it's just enough that I was never fully convinced they were one and the same.

So yeah, it's not that I would find Tim being TTA to be offensive or illogical or wrong. It's just a matter of what would be most interesting to me personally. I hope that helps explain the Tim =/= TTA position a little, at least my take on it! Smile

The way I see it, Tim is likely to be TTA. Look at it this way:

Almost immediately after both Tim and Masky showed up in the series, there were clues, numerous clues, that they were the same person. A lot of people didn't really believe it, but in the end, there you go.

At the same time, Jay has speculated that TTA is Tim, and a lot of people don't like it, or don't believe it. But here's the thing. Tim appears in a TTA video, and that video uses the phrase "come find /me/". It clearly implies that Masky /is/ TTA.

We'll just have to wait to see for the reveal.

Occam's Razor, Joseph's Razor, any razor you want, that's what I'm waiting for... the big reveal. They did it with Masky, so I'm hoping they'll do it again with TTA, though they obviously want to keep us guessing, otherwise we would have clearly seen his face in forecast.

I'm not stating that I think it's anyone else (besides Masky), since the way this story has built up has always centred around four "people": Jay, Alex, Masky/Tim, and Slenderman... if you wanted to be really Liberal, you could include Jessica in this, but to be completely honest, I think a character that randomly popped up for a few episodes and has yet to be mentioned again, might have just been a catalyst for something involving the plot.

So with these four characters pushing the entire story up to this point, why would they suddenly throw a curve ball at you by including another?

I don't know, just my two cents.

Just as a prevention system, before we get too far into this TTA discussion, keep in mind there is a Who is totheark thread.

The thing is, the big reveal already happened in Season 1, episode 18. Remember, totheark and Masky did not appear at the same time. It first started as a bunch of cryptic warnings, and then after saying "Find me", Jay goes back to the house and Bam! There's Masky.
