It looks good, but it is a completely different part of London to Greenwich. Of course, just because Howard works at Greenwich, that doesn't mean that the meeting place is there. Anyone e-mailed Howard to ask if that's the right place?

Reading this thread has been very interesting. Consider this trail being followed!

I did send an email to confirm but haven't heard back yet.

Is there anyone that is available to go out and scout around the place? Or maybe even show up at the meeting time? Are they even open that late?

This page has another picture of the possible arch. Also there's a link to a PDF that describe exactly how to get to the church.

Of course, must stress to always be careful and to not take unnecessary risks when going to a location IRL. Won't blame anyone at all -- who really wants to be in a graveyard when it gets dark? Brrr!

yeh, that's my thought. I would be able to go, it's a bit of a trek (even tho I'm also in London, i could still take me up to 2 hours to get there), but I don't mind that too much. But if it would be just me going, I'd probably stay away. There's a lot of weird people on the internet, and I'd rather not take unnecessary risks (even if Howard's legit, this is an open forum and you never know who might be reading it :/ )

Definitely, Jeho. Do not want you to go alone. If you could convince a friend or two to come with you, I would feel much better about the whole thing. But as you are the one that would be taking on the risk & time, of course it's up to you.

OOG: It does look like quite a trek away from London proper, and I don't know what else may be out there that you could entice your friends to join you. The Royal Botanical Gardens, perhaps?

The problem is I live on pretty much the other side of London. My friends all work (I'm still studying, postgrad ftw Very Happy), so they wouldn't want to go all the way across London for something that doesn't really mean much to them after a day's work, bearing in mind that to get back to my bit of London from there, the easiest route would still be two trains and a bus. Ah well, might have to let Howard know that the meet up'd be a no-go (assuming we get confirmation that that is the right place)

Hmm, so we did get the right location. But, like I said, with no-one else coming, I think I'm gonna play it safe and let Howard know I won't be going. Sorry guys and gals, but I'd rather not risk it as it stands (normally I might have risked going alone, but currently on a crutch so more caution levels are higher than they usually are). Hopefully the PM'll understand.

Don't feel bad Jeho, in your position don't think I'd go either.

There was talk of making up a "Dead drop list" awhile back of people here listing their locations and volunteering to aid in dead drops in their area. Wonder if that came about?

Failing that maybe a lurker here may make the meet and post their discoveries here as a guest?

There is a twitter account for this: http://twitter.com/#!/arg_deaddrop, but it's not very alive. Somebody with a twitter account might give it a try.

New e-mail from Howard, I guess in lieu of the RL meeting

subject: "AUTOMATIC CREATION OF MESSAGE"

Quote:

IF YOU ARE READING THIS THEN I HAVE NOT ENTERED THE PASSWORD TO
PREVENT THIS MESSAGE BEING SENT.
MY NAME IS HOWARD FAIR AND MY LAST LOCATION WOULD BE IN MORTLAKE--

I WAS INVESTIGATING A RELATIVE'S WORK...
SHOULD YOU BE RECEIVING THIS THEN YOU ARE ABLE TO RECEIVE MY TELEPHONE
MESSAGE/VIDEO, SHOULD IT BE RECEIVED BY THIS EMAIL ACCOUNT.-
TO RECEIVE, INPUT YOUR EMAIL AND THE FOLLOWING ANSWERS....

YOUR NAME-.
YOUR EMAIL FOR LARGE FILE.
MY RELATIVE'S NAME.
THE COLOUR OF THE PROJECT.-.
THE TWO WHO DIED WHEN 'SHE WITH GOLD' VISITED--.

AUTOMATIC RESPONSE COMPLETE.
....
-

all relatively straightforward until the last one. no idea about that. "she with gold" didn't return anything useful from google :/

edit: also, felt it would be a bit cold to not mention that it appears something rather major's happened to Howard. Bad times. Guess that means he won't be appearing on chat for the forseeable future.

Did a little digging around. Richard Francis Burton is buried at St Mary's in Mortlake, so maybe he's one of the two? Nothing on his wiki page had anything to do with gold tho, and he died of a heart attack

edit 2: @punxtr, if Howard hasn't responded, I'm guessing it's coz this thing's happened to him!

It probably has something to do with the poem from before:

Quote:

When Autumn is balanced and the sun leaves the trees
The ladies underneath sign their names off in threes
One who is crowned in gold and horn
Meets another who bore he crown-ed in thorn
Young salmon dance in the river strong
Dee's churchyard: the arch: at horzion long...

Howard.

It doesn't look very clear though, but there is a 'she with gold'. There was a possible fae reference before ('make sure not to bring any metal, coins, or keys '), and 'fae gold' is actually a color (which would make sense because we have that Munsell thing), but it doesn't really look plausible.

I hope Howard responds soon. I didn't use code for my last message. Maybe that will jolt whoever is monitoring him.

It seems Howard Fair has set up an auto message as a way to get help in case anyone kills him or otherwise. Since he didn't enter the password, the bad news got through. I wonder what he recorded.
