aha! I knew something didn't quite sit right. The poem just seemed a bit... detached from the story? It just didn't feel like an end in and of itself to me. Excited to see what this new parchment is.

Nice one on working out that message, completely missed it meself

I found those Axelrod references a bit too persistent to be unrelated and took a liberty to look it up. And yep, I got something: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_of_Innocence

Quote:
Song of Innocence is a 1968 album by David Axelrod. The album was inspired by Songs of Innocence, a collection of poems by English poet William Blake.

'Songs of Innocence and of Experience' is the name of the book which had 'The Echoing Green' in it, and there is also the second album named 'Song of Experience'. Not sure if we are to make something out of it though, I think it's just one more Blake reference.

Well, concerning the parchment, there is some text blended into it. If it is a scan of invisible ink, we should tell Howard to try and heat it up or look at it under UV light.
If that is not an option, there is always photoshop =)
Ramping up the contrast on the Cyan and Magenta channels, I got this :

What I would say to this is try flipping the picture on certain axis. It may have been written backwards or upside down. Sort of how Da Vinci wrote it.

Also, when I ran the library error code through Base64, I got this:

"save him save me do not let them catch himsave him save me do not let them catch him"

I'll see what else I can pick up soon. Sorry that I wasn't logged in. In a hurry at the moment. :p

Oh, sorry for the double post. That's also Venus' symbol on the right? Maybe Uranus? I know it belonged to one of the planets/greek god.

It's the symbol for mercury. Minz, genius idea on the cyan & magenta thing. I got the e-mail too, I zoomed in on the jpg file and you can definitely see the letters don't need to be rotated or anything, they're written forward but they don't seem to make any sense. I saw "geb" in there, so thought it might be needed to be read backwards, but other words appear to be random, such as "bixb" or "fiiloqxifqu (or v)" which to me suggests some kind of code

Attempted to get what letters I could from the parchment... some of them are tricky to distinguish because of the script used (for example b/h, i/j). Others are tricky because of the coloration.

What I have extracted is:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
cfkafkd eb tfqe qeb
clroqe ibqqbo xp efp kxjb
qeb bkqoxkzb ql qeb dobbk
ilzxqba yv qeb zeroze lc
qeb pxjb. jlqebo ql plk.
jloqxifqv ql fjjloqxifqv.
zljb tebk qeb prk pefkbp
ilkdbpq xq qeb qfjb.
?b ilf?d qvfkd.

Which is a rot (23 I think) of:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
finding he with the
fourth letter as his name
the entrance to the green
located by the church of
the same. mother to son.
mortality to immortality.
come when the sun shines
longest at the time.
?e loi?g tying.

Not sure about the last line, too hard to read.

I couldn't locate anything matching this, hopefully others have more luck.

I was thinking a vignere, due to the randomness of characters.. but no luck so far.. can we make out the text fully? its ROT-3

I have sent a mail to howard asking if he has a UV light to get a better show of the text, but in the meantime we need to work with what we have..

Theory I'm going to throw out here:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the fourth letter of the alphabet is 'D'. Or, sounding it out, Dee... as in John Dee, the famous Elizabethan mathematician and magician? From the wiki page about him: "Dee straddled the worlds of science and magic just as they were becoming distinguishable"

Ahh. Good one! That explains the alchemical symbol.
Now we have links to Sacred Geometry and the Knight's Templar:
