This just in!
It's Mountain Dew sponsored rotten though.

DewGotham is an apparent part of the ARG which is heavily, and annoyingly so, bias towards advertising 'Mountain Dew'.

On the site there is the chance to read the Gotham Observer which contains a few titbits of info relevant to the upcoming movie.

An advert on the third page points towards Rykin Data a security firm which can supposedly remove all mention of a person from the digital realm.

The patent for this particular software dates back to 2004.

Here's the image:

Dammit.

I've been persevering with http://thefirerises.com/ but after an hour I still can't actually get the game to run properly in either IE9 or Chrome.

I get various glitches such as:
- Level starts but background appears bright pink.
- Level starts but screen goes blank. Soundtrack continues. I close the window and for an instant as it's closing I see a frame from the game.
- Intro page with "Start" button appears then suddenly disappears whilst music continues.
- Intro page appears but then locks up, apparently waiting for some content from Facebook/Akamai.

Not sure if my machine's the problem, someone's servers are overloaded, or the game itself is flaky.

After a bit of Googling it appears the only thing people are talking about is the MUSIC. Has everyone just given up on the game? Sad

Well to entertain myself - I'm going to go paint something and watch it dry.

Game ran fine for me from day one.
Windows 7 PC using up to date Firefox and Flash.

Didn't run so well on Mac but mostly just seeing debug strings.

I reached level 5 but if there is a puzzle/clue in the game I haven't seen it.
Reminds me very much of the Inception game.

Between this and the awful Mt. Dew site I don't know where this ARG is going, if anywhere at all.

Probably just one more "event" that leads up to the 19th/Dark Knight Rises Day.

Barcode

Did anyone figure out the barcode data?
According to my handy-dandy scanner app, it resolves to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
US 20110302487A1

I searched to see if anyone had anything on it, but the only link I got was to another forum and I haven't got the fortitude to slog through page after page of wtf.

So talking it out,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it looks like a date. 2011, 03, 02 = March 2, 2011. and 487A1. and the US.

But I have no idea what that might be. any thoughts?

Haven't been able to glean any other clues from the Rykin patent application.

The numbers in brackets are USPTO code for different pieces of information and are standard. From what I can tell, these are accurate per USPTO code.

The barcode is also standard for a patent for USPTO tracking purposes.

Guess we just need to wait for the Rykin site to not be "under construction"

Lucius Fox's letter to Bruce.

If you go to the Dew Gotham City website, click 'Hit the streets' and then 'Applied Sciences' and finally 'Secret Letter' you get the following information:

Which according to accepted translation is (in text):

Quote:
Dear Bruce,

I hope this letter finds you well. Although I would have liked to have had this conversation with you personally, Alfred tells you I am better off writing as you are not having any visitors at the moment. That being the case, I'll detail what I feel is becoming a situation within the company.

It's a given that in the current economic environment our investors have become increasingly concerned about how their money is being spent. As such, profitability is being judged and analyzed, particularly by the board itself, in the past we haven't given them any reason to worry as both our earnings and spending have been consistent. This allowed me the autonomy to dedicate resources to the Wayne Foundation philanthropic programs as well as R+D endeavors. But over the past five quarters our earnings have been on a downtrend. Meanwhile, our R+D spending has been on an astronomical uptrend. And the black grows fainter around the entire company, I am being put into a position where I have to answer some questions, particularly about your energy project.

No one is going to dispute the fact that innovation is key to our growth and success, it's a mainstay of our business, which is the main reason why the board have begun to scrutinize our R+D budget, and set their sights on your machine. Since they don't know exactly what you are up to, all they understand is a vast amount of capital.

The last time we spoke, you expressed your reluctance to move the project forward and initiate the next phase of trials. I understood your argument as to why. But if you want the company to continue to fund your efforts, I think it is time we give the board more than just the overview you have, enlightening them on what their project will mean to Gotham if you are successful. On a personal note, I would also like to let them know that with age, Bruce Wayne has decided to fill his father's shoes, using Wayne Enterprises and all its resources to readily and reliably support our city.

Nothing bad can come from this, Bruce. But if you decide not to address this issue at hand, I am not sure how long I can hold the board at bay. Making matters more difficult in your absence, I am assuming you have your reasons for it and not my job to question those, but I fear that if you are going to drop off the radar for an extended period of time, we may risk another Bill Earle situation. I can see a couple board members already maneuvering to build influence around the table, most notably John Daggett, who I feel is the last person we want to engage in a power struggle.

When I argued the table on their role I know full well what the job and our arrangement entailed. I am also well aware of your preferred way of handling all matters relating to Wayne Enterprises, however I must tell you we are quickly approaching a set of circumstances that will unfortunately call for a change if we do not address the board. Change in most instances is not a bad thing, but in this regard I am worried.

I'm sure you consider my pessimism to be just another part of my charisma. That may be the case, but let's remember: you didn't hire me for my charm. I look forward to hearing from you. With luck it will be in person.

Regards,

Lucius Fox

I'm not a fan of the Mountain Dew campaign personally, but here's what we've got so let's try our bests with it.

So every location has had a "secret" to find:
AS - Lucius Fox letter
Convenient Store: Gotham Observer that leads to Rykin Data site
GCPD: Harvey Dent Act Press Release

Looks like the Bat Cave is the only "location" remaining to be unlocked.
At 1% of codes redeemed it looks like we will be waiting until July 8th for the unlock.

- the Fox letter mentions John Daggett.
- in Batman: TAS, Rolan Daggett ran the pharma company that was responsible for Clayface and was an all-around d-bag.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Daggett

Not a clue but an interesting reference.

The buttons control the downlights along the wall (haven't found anything else for that yet.

[Not sure if mentioned yet] In the store if you turn off the OPEN sign and wait a camo tumbler (Bane's I'm assuming) pulls up and Bane is on the TV full time (instead of flickering on and off). You can also turn on/off the mtn dew sign, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
