Interesting stuff. Good to have another potentially exciting ARG starting up.
Anyone have any ideas if the "chanting" is actual words, or just a noise generated to set up the Twitter hashtag?

The generated noise is the static you hear just above the chanting. I'm pretty sure the chanting is something.
Also if you mosaic on facebook and twitter and use the "find me" option, you will see there are different versions of the mosaic, which means a lot more people have signed on than it appears lmao.

also an interesting thing to note; I am not sure if this is the actual name or just one that was put on by superherohype, but on their news page about this the file name of the unaltered picture (the full non-mosaic one) is "banehires". so I am thinking that if that is the actual file name than maybe bane will be hiring all of us as mercenaries to help kill batman.
...Or, they could just be describing the high resolution photo of Bane/Hardy
But, by all means, your suggestion sounds tons more fun

The chanting sounds slightly like German to me.

German or Russian, the second would make sense for Baine. Also sounds like it could be "This is Gotham/Arkham" or something like that
Not sure either way.

Sound file Sounds like bats under the chanting...there's a pattern to the chanting. Surprised that no one is breaking the file down.....busy with end of the world prep?

It already has. If you run it through an audio program that has a spectrum view you'll see the hashtag of "#THEFIRERISES" the twitter account we're following.

Also the high pitch is the noise that patterns the hashtag in the view. Not bats... unless they are very well trained bats.
Mosaic just completed, btw.

Also, I tried to run alot of different tools to try and make sense of the chanting and/or find a way to decipher what was said, nothing. I've slowed, sped, reversed, modulated, adjusted, adjusted pitch, and nothing yet. Then again, I'm more of a field agent, not the intelligence side.
Also, complete pic is now my desktop.

YEah I'm playing with the image in GIMP but I'm still pretty inexperienced with image puzzles. The only pecular things I noticed is that
the image has the same marks on the threshold as the dark one on the fire rises twitter account
(No they just have the same odd dark area at the beginning, but it's probably not anything), and the threshold itself starts in an odd place for this image. I don't know if that means anything, but in my little experiences with image manipulation especially for args, I've not seen that.

strange markings on the spine...and a few dents on the head
but I really don't see a puzzle in this image per se

Figured as much. Thanks for confirming what my beginner's intuition was telling me. =)
Now to wait for the next step to show up I guess, lol. I wonder if I should be looking at TDK's timeline for what to expect. We have a photo reveal around the same time, but no hints at a story aside from possibly the chanting and the title. Perhaps that means the first interesting stuff will happen around San Diego comic con and then continue from there.
Well, we will see.
