Re: Answers

First off, I'm going to answer whatever questions get asked. That being said, I am going to be super sensitive with the spolier tags just cuz I dont want to ruin anything for anyone. Haha just in case you think I am adding spoiler tags to things that dont need it.

They are both very different movies. Therefore I love both for many different reasons. As it has been stated,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Super 8 focuses more on the kids and the town rather than the monster. I went in to the movie expecting the it to revolve around the monster and was very surprised by how little you see the monster do anything. The story truly revolves around the kids.
As far as the monster design, the design of the super 8 monster is very original. I loved it! That being said, for me, its hard to beat cloverfield. I still say cloverfield is my favorite monster.

I will definitely be seeing it again!!!
The audience applauded after the movie. I will say though, I went with 3 friends and I was the only one that truly loved it out of the group. They said they enjoyed it, but not loved it. One of my friends said he would give it an 8 out of 10.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
But then again, I think they went expecting to see alot of the monster attacking things and stuff and its just not like that. You definitely do see the monster attack in certain scenes, just definitely not as much as a movie like cloverfield. It just wasnt what they expected.

This whole thing is going in spoiler tags haha.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Its face has black markings on it and is shaped almost like a grasshopper (in a cool way). Its nose is like 4 small squares. Think of a graph with quadrants. I couldnt count exactly, but it looked like it had 8 "arms". It was able to grasp things really well and the hands looked like hands, not claws. Not really sure what else to say about it. It appeared gray in color to me.

Im gonna go ahead and point out something cool so nobody misses it. If you want this to be a surprise please don't read this. But for those who want to be sure they don't miss it...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the beginning of the movie, when they are discussing the film festival and production value in Charle's bedroom, a Rocket Poppeteers poster can be seen on his wall!

Only reason I say that is because everyone I saw it with missed it. I guess I was just looking at the right place at the right time.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1. Well I loved the storyline. It really focuses the most on the relationship between joe and alison, but there is definitely action scenes that are intense. That being said, it was a perfect blend of action suspense and drama.

2. They show some of the editing room footage in the movie that explains a little bit about the monster. It says that the creature is Subterranean. Which makes it make sense that the monster has a hole that it climbs into to an underground "lair". That being said, the ship that turns itself into cubes is the monster's. So somehow it's Subterranean, but then it came in an aircraft?

3. I was satisfied. It tied things up well I thought. And during the credits they show the finished version of the movie the kids had been filming throughout the movie. Its very funny! Also, there is nothing after the credits. If I go into why people may be dissapointed I would ruin probably the entire movie. If someone wants to know I guess I would pm a response but I would advise you just wait and see.

And I just realized I didn't answer the question "Does it lead to a sequel?"
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I didn't walk out with the feeling that there would be another one. It doesn't end in a way that blatantly points to a sequel.

Here's a question. Did that hunter nightcam picture thingy (this: http://www.movieviral.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/berwick2.jpg ) have anything to do at all with it? Or am I just behind?

Also in terms of Spielbergness how does it compare to things like E.T.? Would you say that it has the potential to become a classic on the level of things like E.T. Close Encounters of the 3rd kind and others? Or will it be a movie that once its out of theaters everyone will forget it existed?

Haha I almost forgot about that thing. No I did not see anything that even remotely referenced that.

This is a tough question because it is based solely on my opinion. It was a memorable film for me. I truly loved it! However I don't know if others liked it as much as I did. Its tough to say if it would reach the level of ET and the others you mentioned. I absolutely loved it but its hard for a movie these days to get as much respect as movies like that.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It didn't eat anybody on the spot. It took people back to it's underground lair. Almost like it has a purpose for capturing them. However, I didn't really pick up on that purpose so it wasn't obvious (if there even was one). We only see it eat 1 person in the lair but as people try to escape the lair it snatches them back viciously. And other than that, it did not mention a food source other than that meat stuff we saw in the editing room video (They show that clip in the movie). I dont think it said anything more though than we have seen in the editing room. I could have missed something though. I was really excited haha.

Unless I missed something, the only thing I saw that was Rocket Poppeteers was the poster I previously mentioned.
